Linen

Microscopic test:

Under the microscopic, the hair line flax fiber shows several sided cylindrical with fine pointed ends.

Linen, infact look like a bamboostick having joints that result into a little unevenness.

Chemical test:

Solubility test

Soluble in 70% of sulphuric acid with in a second because linen is cellosic in nature,at 38*c in 20 mnutes.

Burn test:

A cellose fiber, it takes longer to ignite. It is easily extinguished by blowing on it.

RayonsMicroscopic test:

Rayon fiber has uniform diameter with glass like shine.if delustered then rayon fiber marks similar to peper, when viewed crossectionally viscose fiber of rayon looks irregular.

Chamical test:

Solubility test Soluble in 38% concentration hydrochloric

acid at 24*c in 5 minutes.

Burn test:

Rayon burn rapidly and leaves only a slight ash, the burning smell is close to the burning leaves.

AcetateMicroscopic test:

The cross sectional view has a bulbous or multi global appearance with indentations.

These indentation appear as occasional markings.

chemical test:

solubility test

Acetate is soluble in 100% concentration acetic acid in 5 minutes and at 25*c.

Burn test:

It is a protein fiber which burn quickly and can flare even after flam is removed.no ash is left by it, and is smell is like isvinegar.

PolyesterMicroscopic test:

Generally, polyester fiber is smooth straight.it looks round cross sectionally,

its appearance changes in context of of texture and luster.

Chemical test:

Solubility tes

Polyester is soluble in concentration Meta cresolat 139*c and take 5 minutes.

Burn test:

It is a polymer produced from a coal, air, water and petroleum products, it burns quickly and shrinks away from

flame, may also flare up it leave hard, dark and round beads.

NylonMicroscopic test:

Generally, it appears fine, round, smooth and translucent. Some time it has shiny appearance. If it looks dull, it will also be dotted under the microscope.

Chemical test:

Solubility test

It dissolves in concentration Meta cresol at 139*c and it also take 5 minutes.

Burn test:

It quickly burn and shrink flame.the beads are hard, grayish and uncrushable.after flame it burn slowly and melt.

SilkMicroscopic test:

It has elliptical shape under the microscope the two fine and lustrous filaments are shown clearly looking like transparent rode with triangular shape.

Chemical test:

Solubility test Silk is dissolve in 5.25%of

concentration sodium hypoclorite and takes 20 minutes.

Burn test:

This protein fiber burn slowly and curls away from the the flame. It leaves dark beads which can be easily crushed.

WoolMicroscopic test:

Wool fiber has irregular, roughly cylindrical, multi cellular structure with tapered ends.

Chemical test:

Solubility test It also dissolves in 5.25% concentration

sodium hypochlorite and takes 20 minutes.

Burn test:

It is a protienic fiber burn quickly. It sizzles and curls away from the flame. It leaves beads that are brittles, dark and easily crushed. It is self extinguishing and leaves harsh ash from crushed beads.

SpandexMicroscopic test:

Spandex fiber has the out standing characteristic of appraring like groups of fiber twist together.

Chemical test:

Solubility test

Spandex dissolves in diethyl formamid of 100% concentration at 90*c and takes 10 minutes.

Burn test:

It burns and melts, but does not shrink from the flame. It has a chemical type odor. Its residue is a soft black ash
