WAITING FOR THE RAIN

Waiting for the Rain is the second

production of Meeting the Odyssey. Opolski Teatr interprets the symbolic universe of the Odys-sey, and especially the destiny, fear and desire of Penelope. Through Penelope, a world waiting for metamorphoses and emancipation is depicted. Waiting for the Rain offers visual theater with puppets, video, dance and live music.

Meeting The OdysseyMEETING THE ODYSSEY

THE PROJECT

Meeting the Odyssey is a social and artistic collabo-rative project sailing from the Baltic to the Mediterra-nean Sea. Each summer from 2014 to 2016, artists and orga-nizers from different European countries will travel together, giving workshops and performing theatre pieces. The project will combine elements of the Odyssey, contemporary themes relevant to Europe and stories collected through exchanges with the local population. But Meeting the Odyssey is also a journey in itself: Bringing people together through long- term collaboration, and discovering new artistic landscapes and cultural attitudes to develop synergies at the European level. The Project Meeting the Odyssey embark Copenhagen at Asteroiden in 2014 and 2015.

FOR BETTER AND FOR WORSEACROMETRIAPSiRC

Three people caught in a time-

less reality. Nobody

knows when, or if they will get out. They begin to create new hu-man geometries, a sort of new language to un-derstand what is going on around them, and accept the existence of unending realities to survive.

Contradiction and harmony

influences Victor and Kati’s production. The

acrobatic pair manages to make the audience forget the physical excellence, when they create poetic or farce-like situations. Almost without a word, they show their fragility and their emotional relation, their trust and com-mon breath.

INDOMADOR WONDERS

Wonders is a walk in an undefined room,

that reacts to the audiences curiosity and fantasy. The confrontation of acrobatics, set-design and costumes brings forth seeming-ly impossible scenes. A show about percep-tion.

Wonders is a MOVE-AWARD show.

Quim discovers his animal instinct

by transforming the scene into an animala-rium.A story, which shows the uncontrollable primodial force, which connects us to our deepest animal instincts. Transgenic organs, hand-stands, acro-batics in high heels, a spoon in the nose, cockfight and ritual dances.

PLANET EGG TE ODIERO

Planet Egg is a fascinating show,

which is performed and filmed live, and screened with music by Foley Sound. Planet Egg creates both a theatrical intimacy with miniature-puppets and filmic greatness, which feels like an epic space odyssey.

On the verge between myths

and reality, a story of failures and bodies

exploring their boun-daries. Candelaria Antelo and Arthur Bernard Bazin are a highly skilled duo raising awareness on the interna-tional scene for new circus. A very powerful and special crossover between dance and circus.

Last year, This Maag came to the festival, and

we are thrilled to have him here again this year. He will play the role as a sort of Odysseus, who leads the audience through the festival with his humoristic view on European cultural differences, and his talent to improvise with an audience.

Naghol is the name of a test of man-

hood on the pacific island, Pentecost. In the duet, Naghol, Mute Comp. dives into the worlds of rituals and en-lightens different cultures’ rituals, their meaning and qualities.

MY ROOM LABYRINTH

In this solo perfor-

mance, we are invited into Tilde’s

universe. She dances with shadows, hides in the

lights, play with objects, and through her own diaries she reexperiences emotions from her youth; rage, hap-piness, sorrow and perflextion. She shines a poetic light on moments and people, who has formed her personality and influenced her artistic journey.

With wood and

diabolic inspi-ration, with recycled

wood and loads of pallets Lügen Museum builds labyrinths, and eventually burn them in the end.

The audience is invited to a stroll through the labyrinth. An hommage to Odysseus and the greek myths.

EXHIBITIONS

A site-specific presentation of the

workshop’s result, where participants

with varying backgrounds have been invited to interpret and communicate modern stories with inspiration in the episode of Odysseus at Thrinakia Island.

A site-specific presentation of a creative workshop organised by Meeting the Odyssey, where participants from vari-

ous backgrounds have been invited by Klodiana Tsiamati (GRE), Alessandro Mascia and Giancarlo Biffi (ITA) to work on an interpretation of the Odyssey in the present time, especially the dilemma between the respect of the law and the necessity for survival in reference to the

episode of Odysseus at Thrinakia island.

EU

On the occasion of Meeting the Odyssey’s

visit to Copenhagen, we have asked photographer Franck Pourcel to design for the whole Bunker a device previously showned at Marseille European Capital of Culture, entitled Constellations, which is echoing plural identities of the Mediterranean region.

A photographic trail round the Bunkers will show the first stops of Meeting the Odyssey’s journey in the Baltic and Eastern Europe.

Artists will be celebrated in the café, where photographer Ingrid Bugge will show her photographies of the Royal Ballet.

OPEN STAGE BONFIRE PARTY

We love a good party, and what bet-ter way to take advantage of having many talented guests than to host a party with an open stage.

Again this year, that multital-ented This Maag will act as conferencier at our small stage in the garden. Wheth-er it is a song or a play, we encourage everybody to take the stage, and make the night extraordinary.

The open stage is for every-body, both our audience, who wishes to give something back, and playing guests, who have something extra up their sleeves. So feel free to burst into singing a folk-song from your country, or break out your accordion in an AC/DC cover-song, the stage is yours and ours and a great

night is at hand.

We close the festiv

Come and join us!
