IT IS ASTONISHING THAT:
Jonah Resented The Compassion Of God
Jonah 3:10– Jonah 4:1-5Matthew 23:37
Acts 17:16Romans 6:17
Slide 1 Jonah 1:1-3 p.1330 Psalm 139:7-12 Joshua 7 – Achan Genesis 4–Cain & Abel We might think we can hide from God, ….but god is everywhere at all times Slide 2 Jonah 1:4-6 These were heathens who did not believe in the one true God, ..Praying to their gods Philippians 4:6 p. 1856 – we are to pray to God for everything Psalm 55:17 p.55 But we find this man of God sleeping, those who did not know God have to ask him to pray. We should be ashamed if we are the last to call on God in time of need, we should be the first to call on God. What about in the workplace, when among friends and some denominational person invites someone to church, but have not done the same. Do we pray always or are we afraid that we will appear like denominations and don’t give God his praise, glory and pray to him. Slide 3 Jonah 1:7-16 - We see these heathens who now appear to believe in the one true God, have compassion Matthew 5:7 – Jesus said blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy Matthew 7:12 – What ever you want others to do to you, you should do unto them If you want mercy, you must be merciful We should have compassion on those in sin..Homosexuality, adultery, liars, thieves, immorality and so on.. We have to see a soul that’s headed to hell and have the same companion that Jesus had for us Slide 4 Jonah 1:17 – Jonah 2:1-10 God Is Not A Convenience Store Philippians 4:6 – already mentioned, we are to pray to God for everything It should not take a catostrophy for us to pray Slide 5 Jonah 3:1 – Jonah 4:1-5 read 3:1-3 So Jonah goes this time and the people of Nineveh repents, All the people from the King to the least of the people, but Jonah is displeased. He would rather that God had destroyed them. Matthew 23:37 Acts 17:16 Romans 6:17 Instead of being happy for God mercy Jonah is displeased. We should be happy when a lost sinner comes or returns to God.
