VOCABULARY REVIEW

GENRE: Realistic Fiction Realistic fiction is a made up story that could have happened in real life. Characters and setting are realistic and believable. Events in the story are things that really could happen.

STRATEGY: Make Inferences Authors do not always directly tell the reader everything that is happening in a story. Good readers use their own prior knowledge and clues from the text to make inferences, or draw reasonable conclusions about the characters and the plot. To make inferences, readers analyze, or think critically about, the characters experiences and compare these to their own experiences.

SKILL: Character

Authors provide readers clues to a characters personality by telling what the character does and says. Readers can also learn about a character through his or her dialogue with other characters.
