I 1 AT! EVENTS - VOL. 51 AUGUST 15, 1994 News from the Director: just received OSU's 1993-94 Annual Statistical Summary from the Office of the University Registrar, which includes some interesting OSU-ATI student information. During Autumn quarter, 1993, of 713 total students 8% were married; 17% were part-time; 27% were 25 years old or older; and 26% were female. The average age of male students was 22.9 years; average age of female students was 26.0. Twelve percent of the students designated Wayne County as their permanent address when they applied for admission. Three percent were from other states. Three students were from other countries. I'll gladly share my copy if you are interested in reviewing it. Special thanks to Mark Thompson, Bill Bauer, Terry Sprott and too many others to mention for the highly successful and enjoyable alumni golf outing on August 10. There were many winners: Barry Garrod and Richard Dobec for precision placement of tee shots; Kim Sayers and Pat Stull for popularity; Bob Rupp for greatest number of holes played (27); those of us who rode in Mark Thompson's van and made it safely to the tournament site; and best of all, the students who will benefit from the scholarship monies raised! I'm sure you will be hearing more about this year's and next year's alumni society golf outings. Just be careful about which stories you believe. News from Admissions: Farm Focus Fraternization: Many thanks to Richard Dobec, David Munn, and Gary Coffing for their help at the Farm Focus booth in Van Wert. Farm Science Review Sign-up: Are you ready, willing, and able to help with the booth at the Farm Science Review, September 20-22? Please see Jill in Admissions to sign up for your booth time. Cleveland Metroparks Visits Ohio State AT!: Thanks to Gary Anderson, Dale Bradshaw, Barry Garrod, Kent Hammond, Barbara LaMoreaux, and Terry Lanker who assisted Lori Faur with a visit day for a group of staff and student employees from the Cleveland Metroparks. Calling All Prospects: Wesley Greene is talking, talking, talking on his office phone behind closed doors these days! He is assisting with our summer telemarketing efforts--arranging conferences for prospective students, updating their files, and answering their questions. Thanks, Wesley, for all your help! Where the Rubber Meets the Road: Fall recruitment travel begins September 6-- just around the corner. We look forward to our loyal assistants signing up to help with college fairs and high school visits. Of course, we are looking for new assistants, too, so you can volunteer even if your schedule didn't permit it in the past. For the best selection of events and locations (surely there is a resort hotel in Franklin Furnace), see Bill Bauer or Jill Byers ASAP. News from Academic Affairs:

We have decided to pursue a Cooperative Demonstration (Corrections Education) grant to assist with the prison program at Grafton and Mansfield. We have retained the Academy for Educational development to assist in preparing the proposal. If our proposal is successfully funded, OSU-ATI would be one of the 4-5 national model programs.

It is not too late to impact enrollment for Autumn Quarter, Advisors are encouraged to contact people who were here last year but have not registered yet for Autumn quarter. Our new freshmen continue to be down slightly, new transfer students are up and the prison program could double over last years numbers. Thanks for any help you can provide.
