Supervising Pathologist DR SUZANNE DANIELETTO MBBS (Hons), BSc, FRCPADr Danieletto studied medicine at the University of Sydney and since completing her pathology training in 1987, has been associated with the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Her main areas of interest are Anatomical Pathology and Cytology. “My main aim is to provide a quality service and to establish and maintain a good rapport with all referring doctors,” said Dr Danieletto.

Consultant Haematologist DR JENNIFER POSEN MBBS, FRACP, FRCPAAfter completing her medical degree at the University of New South Wales, Dr Posen undertook postgraduate Haematology studies at Westmead, John Hunter and Mater hospitals. Following several years in private pathology, Dr Posen has continued her clinical Haematology work as a consultant Haematologist. “My special interests include Coagulation Disorders, Non-Oncological Haematology, Haemaglobinopathies and Immune Flow Cytometry. I am happy to conduct clinical consultations for both inpatients and outpatients,” said Dr Posen.

Immunopathologist DR CATHERINE TOONG BMed (Hons), FRACP, FRCPADr Toong is an Immunopathologist at Sydney Adventist and Liverpool Hospitals. She is also a Clinical Immunologist at Concord Repatriation General and Liverpool Hospitals. Her main interests are in Autoimmune diseases such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and the various Vasculitides. She also has an interest in Immunodeficiency, including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). She is able to provide phone advice on the interpretation of immunology tests performed through San Pathology if required.

Histopathologist DR EVA FONG MBBS, FRCPA Dr Fong graduated from the University of Sydney in 1988, spending her early clinical years at Westmead Hospital. In 1992 Dr Fong commenced training as a registrar in general pathology. Her training included Clinical Biochemistry, General Haematology, Microbiology and Anatomical Pathology. After working for Central West Pathology Services for two years, Dr Fong took up a position at Sydney Adventist Hospital in 1999. Her special interests are surgical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry.

Histopathologist DR MONICA PEDUTO MBBS (Hons), FRCPADr Peduto studied medicine at the University of Sydney before completing general pathology training at Concord Hospital (1991). She has held a number of appointments in both the private and public sector including a specialised Dermatopathology appointment at the Skin and Cancer Foundation in Darlinghurst and several years as Senior Staff Specialist at Concord Hospital. She then completed two years of research and work experience in Chicago and San Diego. Her main areas of interest are in Gastroenterology and Dermatopathology.

Histopathologist DR BANUMATHY BANUTHEVAN MBBS(Hons) MD FRCPADr Banumathy Banuthevan studied medicine at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka and completed her pathology training in 2005. With a move to Australia she furthered her training at RPA and Prince of Wales Hospitals before joining Sydney Adventist Hospital in 2010. Dr Banuthevan enjoys the diagnostic challenges of being a Pathologist.

Histopathologist DR FAY CHAMBERS MBBS, FRCPA After graduating from Sydney University, Dr Chambers trained in pathology at Sydney, Royal Prince Alfred, Hornsby and Concord Hospitals. She has worked as a Histopathologist in various practices in the private sector and has also held teaching positions in the Departments of Histology and Pathology at Sydney University. Dr Chambers previously held an appointment as a Dermatopathologist at the Skin and Cancer Foundation, Darlinghurst. Her special interests are in the areas of Dermatopathology and Gastrointestinal pathology.

Histopathologist DR KIM TRAN MBBS, FRCPADr Tran graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 1988 and spent several years in Clinical Medicine at St George and Hornsby Hospitals. She commenced training in Anatomical Pathology in 1994 at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after one year of general Haematology training at John Hunter and Mater Hospitals in Newcastle. She has held appointments in both private and public sectors and is currently a Senior Staff Specialist in Anatomical Pathology at St.George Hospital and conjoint lecturer at the UNSW. She holds a part-time position at Sydney Adventist Hospital. Special interests are Surgical Pathology and Dermatopathology including Epidermolysis bullosa.

Consultant Microbiologist DR ROSS BRADBURY MBBS, FRACP, FRCPA A graduate from the University of Sydney, Dr Bradbury has held a host of postgraduate appointments in Australia and overseas. He holds several concurrent appointments including the Clinical Microbiologist and Infectious Diseases Physician at the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Dr Bradbury’s current clinical and research focus is in Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, infection control, antibiotic therapy and adverse drug reactions.

Haematologist DR TUULI STEPHENS MD (Oslo) and FRCPADr Tuuli Stephens is a Haematology specialist with a special interest in laboratory Haematology, Thrombosis and Haemostasis. She has worked as medical doctor in Norway and Denmark before specialising in Haematology in Australia and holds the Fellowship of RCPA.

Director of Pathology DR BEVAN HOKIN BSc, MApp Sc, PhD, COP Forty two years as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, including 29 Years as Director of Clinical Laboratories at Sydney Adventist Hospital has given Bevan a wealth of experience and a thorough understanding of the intricacies of running a modern medical science laboratory. “We are proud of our state-of-the-art instrumentation and the technology we use, and enjoy the challenge of innovation and maintaining the highest scientific standards.”

Deputy Director of Pathology GREG WATTS MSc (CLIN BIOCHEM), MA (Leadership & Management) Greg has spent 28 years at San Pathology, 24 years as Senior Hospital Scientist, in charge of Clinical Biochemistry. Prior to this, Greg spent seven years in a large public hospital laboratory. His special areas of interest are Information Systems, Thyroid Function, Electrophoresis, Blood Gases and Automation.

Blood Bank, SHELDON LAMEY BAppScFor the past 20 years Sheldon has worked as a scientist in a range of supervisory capacities in the State Red Cell Reference Laboratory at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and at a number of hospital laboratories in Sydney and Saudi Arabia mainly in Blood Bank and Haematology.

Clinical Chemistry RICHARD SHIRLEY MSc (Clin Biochem), BAppSc Richard has spent 30 years at San Pathology. The first 5 years were spent as a generally trained scientist. Then 19 years as Second in Charge of Clinical Biochemistry with the last 17 years also running the Immunoassay section. Prior to this, Richard has spent 3 years working in hospitals in NSW and Papua New Guinea. His special areas of interest are hormone and drug testing.

Haematology JILL CROFT BSc, DipEd.Jill has been at San Pathology for 19 years with wide ranging pathology experience in both the private and public sectors. She has been working in Haematology for the past 15 years and is interested in all aspects of Haematology and Flow Cytometry. Through close involvement of the Consultant Haematologist, Dr Posen, Jill leads the department in providing a personalised quality of service.

Histopathology BELINDA SERAFIN BAppScBelinda has 22 years experience working in Pathology both in Australia and the UK. She has been working at San Pathology for the past 12 years, initially in Microbiology and Haematology/ Blood Bank and subsequently in Histopathology for the past 7 years.

Clinical Microbiology NOLA HITCHICK BSc (Hons), MPh Nola has been working at San Pathology for the past 19 years, initially rotating around all departments before settling in Microbiology/Serology. Nola’s role is to ensure the smooth running of the Microbiology/Serology department and provide the highest quality service in line with NATA accreditation.

Clinical Microbiology NATALIE MILLER Dip Med TechNatalie has been working at San Pathology for the past 19 years. After rotating through all departments, Natalie settled in Microbiology/Serology working weekends and evening shifts. She has since been appointed joint Head of Microbiology/Serology with Nola Hitchick.

Compliance Officer BELINDA POPE BSc, MEnv Sci After graduating from University, Belinda worked as a Research Assistant and as a Bone Marrow transplant scientist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for 10 years. In 2002 she was involved in setting up the Stem Cell Unit for the processing and storing of Umbilical Cord Blood. Belinda has since taken on the role of supervising the Pathology Department’s compliance for accreditation purposes.

Collection Services Coordinator KATHY JAYS Dip Med Tech Kathy has had a long pathology career after having worked in both laboratory and collection roles at San Pathology for over 30 years. Kathy’s current role is as a mentor and trainer of pathology collection staff. She also supervises all aspects of collection services within the hospital, at our collection centres and our Home Collection service. In addition she manages our courier services and patient accounts.

Pathology Liaison Officer DIAN KAZANDJIAN BAppSc, MASM, Dip Info Tech Dian’s role is to provide an interface between the laboratory and referring doctors and ensure that any service delivery issues are resolved in a professional and timely manner. This role also includes co-ordination of electronic downloading of results, request form orders and general practice requirements. Dian has previously worked as a Scientific Officer at the Centre of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Laboratory Services, Westmead Hospital and in Public Health.
