‘The Rule of Thirds’
Composition
When you talk about the composition of something, you are referring to the way
in which its various parts are put together and arranged.
A strong composition creates a sense of balance and harmony for the
viewer because the objects in the image look attractive in their
particular positions to each other.
The rule of thirds
The image is imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines,. Important subject matter should be placed along these lines or within the gridded areas. It is thought that this composition creates more tension, energy and interest for the viewer.
The rule of thirds is a guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films, paintings, and photographs.
