General Considerations • All sessions are open and voluntary for all!! • While there is still an inherent risk of infection for

those participating, everyone in attendance should be actively working towards decreasing the risk of transmission to others.

• Risk Mitigation Strategies will include: – Spread out schedules – Increased cleaning protocols – Pre-participation screenings – Activity modifications to allow for social distancing – Gradual return to avoid overuse injuries/exertional

illnesses

Screenings FAQ’s • What happens if I don’t answer truthfully?

– The obvious answer is that in addition to potentially making your condition worse, you could be putting your teammates, coaches, parents, and community at risk of developing COVID-19.

– Additionally, fighting through symptoms could mean an outbreak in our community which could put fall sports in jeopardy.

• What if I always have a cough due to allergies?

– Answer these questions to the best of your knowledge compared to your normal self. For example, if you know you have been waking up for the past few months due to a dry cough from allergies, then that is not a new symptom that would require you to check yes.

• How will my temperature by taken?

– Coaches will use school provided Temporal Thermometers. They are no contact. A fever is registered at 99.5 and above.

Screening FAQ • When should I complete the screening?

– The screening should be completed once every 24 hours within 2 hours of arriving on campus. For example, if you workout is at 10:00am, complete it anytime after 8:00am.

• Can the student athlete participate if they answer yes to a question? – NO!!! The student athlete must be sent home and the AD must be

contacted for further actions. After August 10th the Athletic trainer will need to be notified as well.

• Where do I find the screening surveys? – The surveys will be broken down by sport and sent to all coaches and

will be at shanahan.org • Since we are screening, we don’t need to socially distance right?

– No, you still need to practice social distancing. A screening just tells us whether you are symptomatic or not, but there are still cases of asymptomatic individuals spreading COVID-19.
