ATLANTA FOREST MANAGEMENT UNIT COMPARTMENT REVIEW PRESENTATION COMPARTMENT # 129 ENTRY YEAR: 2008 Compartment Acreage: 1615 County: Presque Isle Revision Date: December 19, 2006 Stand Examiner: Barber Legal Description: T33N, R04E, Sec. 10, 11, 15, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23 & 24. RMU (if applicable): Management Goals: Timber and wildlife management. Soil and Topography: Soils range from muck to well drained sands. Habitat types run heavily to unclassified wetlands and PArVHa. PArVVb is occasional on shallow oak ridges. Non-wetlands are mildly rolling. Ownership Patterns, Development, and Land Use in and Around the Compartment: Mostly other state land and scattered hunting camps. The lakes have tight subdivisions around them. The Royston to Hawks farm belt lies one mile to the east. Unique, Natural Features (include only non-site specific and non-sensitive information): MNFI reports listings for this compartment. Archeological, Historical, and Cultural Features (include only non-site specific and non-sensitive information): Reported. Special Management Designations or Considerations: Access is poor on several of the scattered holdings, and even on one of the larger parcels. Wet soils, drainages and lakes further complicate matters. Watershed and Fisheries Considerations: Sportsman’s Flooding on the Ocqueoc River is a popular fishing sight, as are Lakes May, Ella and Ferdelman.

COMPARTMENT REVIEW PRESENTATION

COMPARTMENT # 129 ENTRY YEAR: 2008

Compartment Acreage: 1615 County: Presque Isle

Revision Date: December 19, 2006 Stand Examiner: Barber Legal Description: T33N, R04E, Sec.

Page 2: ATLANTA FOREST MANAGEMENT UNIT COMPARTMENT … · between 10 and 200 feet. Beneath the glacial drift is the Devonian Traverse Group. The Traverse is quarried for limestone and cement

Wildlife Habitat Considerations: Mineral Resource and Development Concerns and/or Restrictions: Surface sediments consist of glacial outwash sand and gravel and postglacial alluvium and coarse-textured till. The glacial drift thickness varies between 10 and 200 feet. Beneath the glacial drift is the Devonian Traverse Group. The Traverse is quarried for limestone and cement products. Gravel pits are not located in the area, but potential is good on the upland areas. This area is located south of the Niagaran reef trend and north of the Antrim Shale play. None of the State land is leased for oil and gas development and potential is limited. Vehicle Access: Roads to be closed are shown on the compartment map as closed or abandoned. Survey Needs: Surveying will be required for timber sale preparation. Recreational Facilities and Opportunities: Public Access Sites are maintained at Lakes May, Ella, and Ferdelman, With a primitive site at the flooding. Fire Protection: Adequate. Additional Compartment Information: Ø The following 5 reports from the Operations Inventory System (OIPC) are attached:

♦ Cover Type by Age Class ♦ Cover Type by Management Objective ♦ Compartment Volume Summary ♦ Proposed Treatments – No Limiting Factors ♦ Proposed Treatments – With Limiting Factors

Ø The following information is displayed, where pertinent, on the attached compartment maps:
