Boat Tour of the Peconic River
On a cold, windy morning we began our day with a boat tour of the Peconic River. We talked about the difference between the sea, rivers and the bay. Emily D., Caitlin & Luke examine a horseshoe crab.
Checking Out a Trap
Next we stopped to pick up a trap. There were crabs in it. We learned how to tell the difference between male and female crabs. Brendan couldn’t wait to hold one.
Handling Crabs
Patrick carefully holds the crab by it’s claws. This is so it doesn’t snap at him.
A Welsh Mollusk
Rosanna and Stephanie took a closer look at a Welsh Mollusk.
An island
The boat stopped and we got off on a small island. We were able to see some of the plants and marine life that are native to the island.
Inside the Aquarium
We were glad when we made it inside the Aquarium. It gave us a chance to warm up and check out the cool tanks full of fish.

Sea Turtles
One of the most exciting things to see was a large sea turtle. He was very friendly and kept swimming up near the glass. He must have liked having his photo taken.
Sea Lions
Before we left we saw a sea lion show. The sea lion clapped, tapped it’s flippers, and even kissed it’s trainer.
