♦ Here we see thethief pretending tohelp. What he isreally doing is tryingto gain the“customers” PIN, nowthat he has capturedhis card.

Gaining access to the PIN♦ The good

Samaritanconvinces the“Customer” He canrecover the card,if he presses hisPIN at the sametime theSamaritan press“cancel” and“enter”.

Situation Hopeless, “TheyLeave”

♦ After severalattempts the“customer” isconvinced his cardhas beenconfiscated. The“customer” andthe Samaritanleave the ATM.

Recovering the CARD♦ Satisfied the area is

clear, the thief♦ returns to recover

the confiscated cardfrom his trap. He notonly has the card, healso has the PIN the“customer” providedunknowingly.

THE TRAP♦ The trap is made up

of XRAY film, whichis the preferredmaterial by thieves;Simply because ofthe black color whichis similar inappearance to theslot on the cardreader.

Placing the TRAP♦ The trap is then

inserted into theATM slot. Care istaken not to insertthe entire film intothe slot, the endsare folded andcontain glue stripsfor better adhesionto the inner andouter surface of theslots.

INVISIBLE♦ Once the ends are

firmly glued andfixed to the slot,it is almostimpossible todetect byunsuspectingclients.

♦ Slits are cut intoboth sides of thetrap, Thisprevents your cardbeing returnedprior to completingyour transaction.

“Customer” has gone,and they have yourPIN , The thief canremove the gluedtrap, by grasping thefolded tips, he simplypulls the trap outthat has retainedyour card..

RECOMENDATIONS.♦ 1.-Once your card

has been confiscated,observe the ATM slotand the card readerfor any signs oftampering. Shouldyou see the film tipsglued to the slot,unglue, pull the trapout and recover yourcard.
