1 Introduction

Once you have successfully launched ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S or ATMdesk/Remote on an ATM or ATMdesk/Repair on a PC (for details, please refer to appropriate ATMdesk Installation or Setup and Handling Manual), there's little to learn. As an experienced ATM service engineer, you'll immediately recognize most of ATMdesk features.

ATMdesk product line consists of the following products:

ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S is a standalone Linux-based ATM application booted entirely from a removable media (floppy, CD or USB flash disk). ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S is designed to test live NCR ATMs in the field or in the workshop. ATMdesk//Pro, /2 and /S does not install on the ATM's hard disk and it leaves no traces within the ATM. It does not depend on the software installed on the ATM's hard disk either1

ATMdesk/2 is designed to test NCR 56xx, 58xx (Personas) and 53xx (Easypoint) ATMs. ATMdesk/S is designed to test NCR 66xx (SelfServ) ATMs. ATMdesk/Pro is the top-of-the-line product designed to test all NCR ATMs.

ATMdesk/Remote is an online version of ATMdesk/Pro which is connected using a GSM modem or phone. ATMdesk/Repair is designed to test live NCR ATMs in remote location from a web interface at www.atmdesk.com.

ATMdesk/Remote is a standalone Linux-based ATM application booted entirely from a removable CD. It is not installed on the ATM's hard disk and it does not depend on the software installed on the ATM's hard disk either.

disk, but it is mandatory that a legal NCR Platform Software for this ATM has been installed and booted at least once prior to re-booting the ATM with ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S and ATMdesk/Remote.

ATMdesk/Repair is a Windows application installed on a desktop or laptop PC. ATMdesk/Repair is designed to test individual ATM modules on the table during repair process in a workshop.

ATMdesk/Repair is a desktop equivalent of ATMdesk/Pro designed to test all NCR ATM modules. It is ideal for companies dealing with ATM spare parts.

ATMdesk/Demo is a function-limited variant of ATMdesk/Pro. If you wish to see what ATMdesk looks like and what it is good for, you can freely download ATMdesk/Demo from www.atmdesk.com.

All products share the same interface and features. This manual explains some

important things you need to know while using your ATMdesk and also describes tests which are currently supported by ATMdesk.

2 ATMdesk User Interface

ATMdesk is controlled through a hierarchical menu system. Typical menu screen is shown below:

ATMdesk user interface is minimized to fit limited input ability of an ATM:

• Digits 0-9 are used for menu item selection or digital entry. If information spans across several pages, 0 and 9 are used to scroll up and down. Current/Total page counter is displayed in the top right corner.

• FDKs (buttons along both sides of the screen) usage is context-dependent;

current FDK assignment is displayed next to the button. o Bottom left FDK is commonly used for negative-style actions (BACK,

CANCEL etc). CANCEL/CLEAR/ESC keys on the main keypad can be always used instead of this FDK.

o Bottom right FDK is commonly used for positive-style actions (CONFIRM, OK etc). ENTER key on the main keypad can be always used instead of this FDK.

Actions can be also triggered by a mouse click (ATMdesk/Repair only) or by a

touch screen, if present (ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S only). ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S can use either Front (Customer Monitor/Keyboard) or

Rear (EOP or GOP – Extended or Graphic Operator Panel) ATM interface. If EOP/GOP is found during ATMdesk boot, it will become initial active interface to facilitate work on through-the wall ATMs, where engineer usually stays at the rear. Active ATMdesk interface can be changed (transferred) via menu whenever required.

NOTE: BOP (Basic Operator Panel) is not supported as an ATMdesk interface,

however it can be tested as an ATM device. If your ATM is equipped with BOP, you can only run ATMdesk from the front interface.

3 Main Menu

First screen shown upon successful ATMdesk start is Main Menu:

Main Menu contains the following items:

• Supervisor Functions provides control functions like interface transfer (front/rear), device re-scanning, ATMdesk info and so on.

• Device Diagnostics submenu. Each device found by ATMdesk will be listed in

this menu. Here you can execute desired test and view detailed test report. This submenu is similar to NCR S4i/APTRA Device Maintenance menu.

• Confidence Tests submenu. Each device found by ATMdesk will be listed in this

menu. Here you can check if a device or the whole ATM is operational without the need to run more technical diagnostics.

• Logs and Tallies submenu provides access to Error Logs and Device Tallies

maintained by the ATM platform (S4i/APTRA) (ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S only).

To exit from ATMdesk press EXIT while in Main Menu and confirm your choice.

4 Supervisor Menu

Supervisor Menu provides access to several control functions of ATMdesk.

• Restart ATMdesk repeats devices enumeration (scan) process and searches for software updates via internet (ATMdesk/Repair only). Use this option if a device was re-connected to another port or if a new device was connected. CAUTION: ATM devices are NOT designed for hot swap. Before disconnecting/connecting a device, please switch device power OFF.

• Restart ATMdesk (Quick) repeats devices enumeration (scan) process but only

re-scans those devices which were found during last full scan. Use this option if device/port configuration has not changed (e.g. IMCRW was replaced on the same COM port); this will drastically reduce scanning time.

• Transfer Interface swaps user interface from front to rear or vice versa. This option is only available if rear interface (EOP) is present (ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S only).

• Dump Debug Logs stores internal ATMdesk logs on a floppy disk or USB flash

for further investigation by the ATMdesk Support Team. If you encounter a problem with ATMdesk, please use this item to save logs on a blank floppy or USB flash and then send all saved files along with your request to the ATMdesk Support Team (mail to [email protected]).

NOTE: The logs saved with this menu item are NOT

ATM Error Logs. They are internal ATMdesk debug logs required by the Support Team to track the source of a problem in case of abnormal ATMdesk behavior.

5 Printing Reports

ATMdesk can print reports (test results, error logs, device tallies and so on) on available printers. The following printers are supported:

• 40-column printers (Matrix/Thermal Receipt/Journal) • Windows printers – ATMdesk/Repair only • Virtual “printing” to a file on a floppy disk or USB flash – ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and

/S only The following printer choice is typically available on an ATM:

The following printer choice is typically available on a PC:

When “printing” to a file, you can use either floppy disk or USB flash. If saving to a floppy disk you may need a blank floppy disk - although data can be saved on the ATMdesk floppy itself, there’s usually not enough free space there. If the floppy becomes full, remove it, insert another blank floppy disk and repeat printing operation.

If you wish to save ATMdesk/Repair reports into a document instead of physically

printing them, please install a “virtual printer” service like Adobe PDF Writer, Microsoft Office Document Writer or similar.

6 Confidence Tests Menu

Confidence Tests Menu provides quick “one touch” testing for all ATM devices found during initial scan process. This chapter describes confidence test sequences for all supported devices. For detailed description of each test refer to Device Diagnostics Menu chapter later in this manual.

Confidence Tests can be run for one, several, or all devices. Selected devices are

marked by “+” sign on the left. You can select/deselect all devices at once using appropriate FDK buttons. To run the tests on selected devices press bottom right FDK or ENTER button.

During the test sequence you may be prompted for some actions (insert a card,

press a key and so on). A screen like this is displayed at the test completion for each selected device

(when more than one device was tested, first screen shows summary across all tested devices). You have an option to print confidence test report:

6.1 Printing Confidence Test Reports

When printing Confidence Test reports on an ATM, each device test results are

printed on separate page. If several devices have been tested, first page shows overall test summary across all devices.

No additional information (such as MSTATUS/MDATA) is printed even if a test

fails. Use Device Diagnostics menus (see sect [7]) for printing detailed test reports.

When printing Confidence Test reports in the ATMdesk/Repair, the printout is similar to Diagnostic Test report (see sect [7.2] for details).

7 Device Diagnostics Menu

Devices Diagnostics Menu provides full “in deep” testing for all ATM devices found during initial scan process. This chapter describes diagnostic tests for all supported devices.

Each device submenu provides access to that device tests. All diagnostic output such as MSTATUS/MDATA/TDATA is printed in the same format as NCR diagnostic prints. MSTATUS/MDATA bits and bytes are also decoded and printed in clear text below their numerical values:

NOTE: Main diagnostic outcome is MSTATUS, shown in yellow at the top of the

screen. Even if MSTATUS is 0 (No Error), MDATA may still contain additional information, such as sensor status or command just executed. In this case MDATA will be decoded and printed; this does NOT indicate any errors.

7.1 Control Menu

Control Menu can be selected (by pressing bottom right FDK or ENTER button) on all Device Diagnostics (see below) screens. Control menu sets up how diagnostic tests are performed and how test results are logged.

• Loop when set to ON enables test looping. Loop mode can be used to exercise device stability.

• Logging when set to ON starts accumulating diagnostic test results which can be

printed later. • Halt on Error when set to ON forces test loop to halt whenever an error is

detected. • Print Log prints accumulated test results. You will be prompted to select report

type (short or full, see sect [7.2]) and which printer to print on (see sect [5]). • Clear Log clears accumulated test results after a confirmation.

Two most commonly used options (Loop and Logging) are also mirrored directly

on all Device Diagnostics screens and can be toggled by pressing appropriate FDK. NOTE: Loop mode is automatically reset to OFF after a test has been executed.

7.2 Printing Diagnostic Test Reports

Diagnostic test reports can be printed in two modes – brief and full. The above picture is for a brief test report:

• OK – test passed. No additional information about passed test is printed. • FAILED – test failed. Additional information about failed test (such as

MSTATUS/MDATA) is printed below test result. • SKIPPED – test not performed. Some tests further explain the reason of being

skipped (such as “CARD NOT ENTERED”, “CASH NOT ENABLED” etc). No additional information about skipped test is printed.

The only difference between full and short report is that full report always prints

additional information (MSTATUS/MDATA) regardless of the test result.

7.3 Encryptors

Tests offered in this menu depend on the type of the encryptor currently connected. ATMdesk supports the following encryptors:

• SDC BAPE • SDC EKC/EKCSM • SDC EPP-E/EPP-B (DAPI1, DAPI2, DAPI4, DAPI5, DAPI7) • SDC EPP-Z (ZT598J) • USB EPP2

7.3.1 Identify Display encryptor information such as (depends on encryptor type):

• Encryptor type (BAPE/EKC/EPP) • Encryptor serial number • Security Module identification number • DAPI type and version • Firmware modules currently loaded • SDC Firmware version

7.3.2 Key Detect Wait user to press a key on customer keyboard and display key code and matrix

code of the key pressed. This test is run continuously and is stopped if no key is pressed within 7 seconds.

MDATA byte represents matrix code (hardware position code) of the key pressed

(see figure for keyboard matrix layout):

7.3.3 Check Health Check communication channel between SDC controller board and Security

Module. NOTE: This test doesn’t check if encryptor (security module) works properly. Use

Test Key Loading or Test Secure Key Loading test (see below) to verify security module.

7.3.4 Test Key Loading Load a DES key into the encryptor and perform key verification. If this test passes, encryptor in question is OK and can be used in ATM. If it does

not, encryptor is probably locked due to possible tampering or dead battery or whatever reason. Usually encryptors are not repairable but Reinit Security Module test (see below) can be tried as last resort.

NOTE: This test may be unavailable on a live ATM due to ATM Application setup

of the EPP. If further key loading is restricted by the ATM Application, the only way to pass this test is to perform Clear Keystore test first (see below), but be aware it will erase all ATM Application’s keys.

NOTE: This test is not supported by DAPI7 SDC EPP and USB EPP. Use Test Secure Key Loading test instead.

7.3.5 Test Secure Key Loading Similar to Test Key Loading but the key is prompted to be entered directly from

EPP keyboard. Use this test to verify DAPI7 SDC EPP and USB EPP.

NOTE: This test may be unavailable on a live ATM due to ATM Application setup of the EPP. If further key loading is restricted by the ATM Application, the only way to pass this test is to perform Clear Keystore test first (see below), but be aware it will erase all ATM Application’s keys.

7.3.6 Test PIN Entry Load a DES key into the encryptor and perform PIN entry and PIN encryption. If this test passes, encryptor in question is OK and can be used in ATM. If it does

not, encryptor is probably locked due to possible tampering or dead battery or whatever reason. Usually encryptors are not repairable but Reinit Security Module test (see below) can be tried as last resort.

NOTE: This test may be unavailable on a live ATM due to ATM Application setup

of the EPP. If further key loading is restricted by the ATM Application, the only way to pass this test is to perform Clear Keystore test first (see below), but be aware it will erase all ATM Application’s keys.

NOTE: This test is not supported by DAPI7 SDC EPP and USB EPP.

7.3.7 Clear Keystore Erase all ATM application keys from the encryptor. This test may be useful when

installing used keyboard into an ATM. WARNING: Use this test only if your encryptor doesn’t work properly or prior

installing the encryptor in an ATM. All ATM Application keys within encryptor are erased.

BEWARE!!!

After using this function the ATM cannot be put back into service,

unless the bank re-loads new keys into the EPP!!!

Once clearing procedure is completed, there’s an option to print the report for

audit purposes. Use appropriate FDK button:

7.3.8 Reinitialize Security Module Erase all ATM application keys and internal encryptor variables. WARNING: Use this function only as a last resort when your encryptor isn’t

working.

BEWARE!!! After using this function the ATM cannot be put back into service,

unless the bank re-loads new keys into the EPP!!!

7.3.9 SDC Turnaround SDC communication channel echo test. This test sends a data block to the device

and expects the same block in response.

7.4 Card Readers

Tests offered in this menu depend on the type and variant of the card reader currently connected. ATMdesk supports the following card readers:

Read Track tests are only offered for the tracks readable by the reader currently connected.

Write Track tests are only offered for the tracks writeable by the reader currently connected.

Smart Card tests are only offered if the reader currently connected has Smart Card

feature. CROPF tests are only offered if the reader currently connected has CROPF

feature. CIM tests are only offered if the reader currently connected has CIM/MM feature.

7.4.1 Identify Display card reader information such as (depends on card reader type):

7.4.2 Set Features Configure various card reader features:

• Non magnetic cards accept • Jitter on card entry/eject • DASH card read on exit/entry and card latch • CIM/MM test card accept

NOTE: Depending on reader variant some features may be unsupported. NOTE: Depending on reader variant settings may be destroyed by power-off.

7.4.3 Enter Card Enable the card reader for card entry. A card is expected to be inserted within 15

seconds. Appropriate action prompt (e.g. “insert card” or “insert/remove card”) is displayed according to current reader type and configuration.

7.4.4 Eject Card Open the shutter and move the card to the entry slot for removal. The card is

expected to be removed within 15 seconds. The test is only offered for readers capable of holding the card inside (e.g. motorized or DASH).

7.4.5 Capture Card Move the card to the capture bin. The test is only offered for motorized readers.

7.4.6 Read ISO Track 1 Read Track 1 data and display them in ASCII format including start and end

sentinels. If track is read with errors, corrupted data (if any read) will also be displayed.

7.4.7 Read ISO Track 2 Identical to the Read ISO Track 1 test but reads/displays Track 2.

7.4.8 Read ISO Track 3 Identical to the Read ISO Track 1 test but reads/displays Track 3.

7.4.9 Write ISO Track 1 Write two tests patterns (all zeroes and then “0123456789=” repeated up to

maximum track length). Original content of the track is restored after successful test. WARNING: In case of a write/read error track data may be left corrupted. Do not

use any live card for write test.

7.4.10 Write ISO Track 2 Identical to the Write ISO Track 1 test but writes Track 2.

7.4.11 Write ISO Track 3 Identical to the Write ISO Track 1 test but writes Track 3.

7.4.12 Write All ISO Tracks A combination of the Write ISO Track 1, 2 and 3 tests; test patterns are written

simultaneously to all 3 tracks.

7.4.13 Speed Test Check card movement speed. Use special card (P/N: 009-0003479. This test is

only useful for SDC MCRW; for IMCRW it does nothing and for manual insertion readers it is not offered at all.

7.4.14 Shutter Test Open the shutter and verify shutter switch indicating opened; then close the shutter

and verify shutter switch indicating closed. The test is not offered for manual insertion readers.

7.4.15 Cleaning Cycle Open the shutter for up to 10 seconds and wait for a cleaning card to be entered,

then moves the card under the magnetic head several times and ejects it. The test is not offered for manual insertion readers.

7.4.16 Relay and Battery Test Check current voltage of the backup battery and verify that relays (if fitted) work

properly.

7.4.17 Smart Card Stage Move the card under smart card reader head and bring reader contacts down to the

card.

7.4.18 Smart Card Reset Apply power to the smart card as required by the ISO-7816 and EMV

specifications, then receive and display card’s ATR (Answer-To-Reset).

7.4.19 Smart Card Release Raise reader contacts and move the card out of smart card reader head.

7.4.20 Initialize SCIF Reset Smart Card Interface. Power is removed from reader contacts, stopper pin

solenoid is deactivated.

7.4.21 SCIF Solenoid Check Stopper Pin and Contacts solenoids operate properly by switching them

ON/OFF. NOTE: For the DASH and USB DIP readers the test exercises card latch solenoid. NOTE: For the DASH reader a card must be inserted in the reader for this test to

run. Observe solenoid activation yourself, there are no sensors to verify solenoid operation in software.

7.4.22 SCIF Identify Display Smart Card Interface EPROM ID and power supply info.

7.4.23 CIM Verify Perform CIM/MM card verification. NOTE: The CIM Verify test must follow Read ISO Track 3 test; otherwise “Out of

sequence” error may occur. The “CIM/MM test card” feature must be set to “OFF” before inserting a card for this test. It is recommended to use Run-To-Run 2 or Run-To-Run 3 instead to maintain correct sequence of tests.

NOTE: The CIM Verify test only checks that verification procedure can be

performed. The test does not fail if the card does not actually pass verification.

7.4.24 CIM Turnaround Perform CIM/MM module communication turnaround test. This test can be also

run with turnaround plug connected instead of real CIM/MM module.

7.4.25 CIM Self Test Perform CIM/MM module self-test. This test does not require any card to be

inserted in reader.

7.4.26 CIM Service Test Perform CIM/MM module service test. This test requires special CIM/MM test

cards (numbered T-1 to T-11). NOTE: The “CIM/MM test card” feature must be set to “ON” before inserting a

card for this test. It is recommended to use Run-To-Run 4 instead to maintain correct sequence of tests.

7.4.27 Run To Run Sequence 1 For motorized readers: perform the following tests in sequence:

7.5.1 Sensor Test Display current state of printer sensors and switches.

7.5.2 Print Quality Print the following:

• LDTX pattern repeated five times double wide • LDTX pattern repeated ten times single wide • full character set single wide

On the receipt printer the paper is cut at black mark or at configured receipt length

and the receipt is delivered. On the Dual Side Thermal (2ST) receipt printer “DUAL SIDE THERMAL”

message is printed on the rear. This will be only visible if two-side thermal paper is loaded into the printer.

7.5.3 Print Alignment Print 22 numbered 40-character lines single wide to allow verification of line

spacing and alignment. On the receipt printer the paper is cut at black mark or at configured receipt length

and the receipt is delivered.

7.5.4 Slew Test (Receipt Printers only) Print LDTX pattern ten times, slew nine lines and then print another ten LDTX. The paper is cut at black mark or at configured receipt length and the receipt is

delivered.

7.5.5 Slew to Mark and Cut Test (Receipt Printers only) Slew paper to the next black mark, cut the paper and deliver the receipt.

7.5.6 Paper Transport Forward (Receipt Printers only, except 60mm) Run paper transport motor forward for three seconds. NOTE: Paper must be removed from the printer before executing this test.

7.5.7 Paper Transport Reverse (Receipt Matrix Printer only) Run paper transport motor backward for three seconds. NOTE: Paper must be removed from the printer before executing this test.

7.5.8 Cut Knife Test (Receipt Printers only, except 60mm) Activate cut knife for a moment to verify its state. NOTE: Paper must be removed from the printer before executing this test.

7.5.9 Carriage Motor Test (Matrix Printers only) Move carriage from home position and back to home position. NOTE: Paper must be removed from the printer before executing this test.

7.5.10 Feed Motor Test (except 60mm Receipt Printer) Run feed motor forward for three seconds. NOTE: Paper must be removed from the printer before executing this test. Also, on

Axiohm thermal printers mechanism must be open too.

7.5.11 Take-up Spool (Journal Printers only) Run take-up spool forward for three seconds.

7.6.9 Feed Motor Test Run the paper feed and print head motors for five seconds (USB printers only).

7.6.10 Knife Test Activate knife mechanism (USB printers only).

7.6.11 CAM Motor Test Run the CAM motor for five seconds (USB printers only).

7.6.12 Bunch N Forms Prompt the user to enter number of forms to bunch; then cut and stack specified

number of forms and present them to the user. NOTE: This test is only available if buncher feature is supported by the printer.

7.6.13 Buncher Clamp Test Activate buncher clamp for three seconds and then deactivate it (SDC printers

only). NOTE: This test is only available if buncher feature is supported by the printer.

7.7 Currency Dispensers

ATMdesk supports the following dispenser variants:

• SDC original Stacking Dispenser • SDC IE (Improved Electronics) Stacking Dispenser • SDC Enhanced Stacking Dispenser • SDC P86 Stacking Dispenser • SDC NID/NID2 Stacking Dispenser • SDC “Bantam” Spray Dispenser (5870 Bantam) • RS232 “Hawk” Spray Dispenser (53xx Easypoint) • USB S1 Stacking Dispenser

Presenter and stacker related tests are only offered for stacking dispensers. Divert gate test and analogue sensor readings are only offered for spray dispenser. Dispense and Present tests require that one of the cassettes or the purge bin have

been reinserted to confirm that user has access to the inside of the safe. If this was not done prior to the test, user will be allowed up to 20 seconds to reinsert a cassette before the test fails.

NOTE. Software Version 6.4 and earlier used cash enable switch (located on the

dispenser control board) to authorize Dispense and Present tests. Software Version 6.4.1 and later use cassette or purge bin reinsertion as more secure and universal option; cash enable switch is not used anymore.

Dispense and Present tests are not offered if the Key Device used to authorize

ATMdesk was configured in Safe Mode (see ATMdesk Installation Manual for details). Extended cassette types are supported if the dispenser recognizes them. However,

only 4 cassette types at a time can be configured to maintain consistency of ATM Tallies. If a cassette type is detected that was not used in this dispenser previously, the user will be asked to confirm introduction of new cassette type; ATM Tallies may become invalid after that and should be discarded or cleared.

7.7.1 Clear Move any bills left in the dispenser transport into dispenser purge bin. NOTE. Most ATMs are equipped with dispenser interlock, which disconnects AC

power when dispenser is pulled out from the safe. The interlock is typically located near dispenser racks and must be closed manually when dispenser is tested in pulled out state. If this was not done prior to the test, user will be allowed up to 20 seconds to close the interlock before the test fails.

7.7.2 Set Notes Set number of notes to be picked from each cassette type installed for future

Dispense and Stack tests. By default five notes are set for each cassette type.

7.7.3 Dispense Dispense notes (as set by Set Notes; 5 by default) from each cassette type

installed, equivalent to Stack and Present in one operation.

7.7.4 Stack Pick notes (as set by Set Notes; 5 by default) from each cassette type installed and

stack them for presentation.

7.7.5 Present Move previously stacked notes to the exit slot where they can be collected.

7.7.6 Learn Bills Learn bill parameters (size and singularity) or enter them manually. Presentation

order can be also changed from this menu.

Current bill sizes, singularities and presentation order are shown on the screen for all configured cassette types.

To learn bill parameters automatically select desired cassette type or select “All Cassettes”. Uninstalled cassette types are skipped; for installed cassette types you will be asked for number of bills to pick (by default 40 for stacking dispensers and 70 for spray dispensers).

To enter bill parameters manually select appropriate menu item. You will be asked for size and singularity values for all configured cassette types; you can press Enter to keep current values which you don’t want to change.

New bill sizes, singularities and bill presentation order will be displayed on the screen but not saved until you exit the Learn Bills menu. On exit a prompt will displayed to confirm saving of modified parameters.

7.7.7 Cassette Status Display type and state of each cassette installed in each pick module.

Cassette can be in one of the following states:

• OK – Cassette installed and is not low on bills. • Low – Cassette installed but is low on bills. • Empty – Pick failure condition was detected while cassette was low on bills. • Fatal – Too many notes were rejected, pick failures occurred or dispenser was

unable to learn bill parameters for this cassette type. • Disabled – Cassette position is disabled. • Not Installed – No cassette installed in the pick module.

7.7.8 Sensor/Switch Status Display state of all available dispenser sensors.

7.7.9 Sensor Analogue Readings Like the Sensor/Switch State test, but sensor analogue values are returned instead

of clear/blocked state. The test is only available for spray dispenser.

7.7.10 Sensor Blocked Thresholds Like the Sensor/Switch State test, but sensor threshold values are instead of

clear/blocked state. The test is only available for spray dispenser.

7.7.11 Self Test Pick one bill from each cassette installed and move them to the purge bin. Exit

Shutter (on stacking dispensers) or Divert Gate (on spray dispensers) is also exercised.

7.7.12 Main Motor Test Run main transport drive motor for several seconds.

7.7.13 Exit Shutter Test Open exit shutter and verify shutter sensors indicate opened; then close the shutter

and verify shutter sensors indicate closed.

7.7.14 Divert Gate Test Open divert gate and verify gate sensors indicate opened; then close the gate and

verify gate sensors indicate closed.

7.7.15 Presenter Bill Drive Test Run presenter bill drive in two speeds (fast and slow) in forward and backward

directions.

7.7.16 Presenter Clamp Test Move presenter clamp to home position if it’s not at home; then move it to the

present position and back to the home position.

On P86 dispensers the bill alignment mechanism also checked. It is moved to home position if it’s not at home; then it’s moved to the smallest bill position and back to the home position.

7.7.17 Pick Valve Prompt the user to select pick module to be exercised and then activate main

motor and pick valve of selected module for ten seconds. NOTE: All currency cassettes should be removed before this test. NOTE: No feedback is provided for this test. Check state of the pick valve yourself.

7.7.18 Run To Run Sequence 1 Perform the following tests in sequence:

• Clear • Presenter Clamp • Presenter Bill Drive • Exit Shutter or Divert Gate • Self Test • Dispense (skipped in Safe Mode) • Clear

7.8 Envelope Depositories

ATMdesk supports the following depositories:

• SDC PPD Envelope Depository (with optional Envelope Dispenser) • SDC P86 Envelope Depository and Dispenser • USB Envelope Depository and Dispenser

If Envelope Dispenser is present (as separate option or as integral part of the

depository), Envelope Dispenser tests will be offered in a separate menu (see Sect. [7.9]).

Tests offered in this menu depend on the type and variant of the note acceptor currently connected. ATMdesk supports the following note acceptors:

NOTE: Sort to front/rear tests are only offered if the note acceptor currently connected has two deposit cassettes (UD-50 and UD-686).

IMPORTANT: Most ATMs are equipped with BNA interlock, which disconnects

BNA power supply completely

when safe door is opened and/or BNA is pulled out from the safe. The interlock is typically located near BNA racks and must be closed manually when safe door is opened and/or BNA is pulled out from the safe. Because all power is disconnected by the interlock, the BNA will be effectively switched OFF and will not be found by ATMdesk if interlock is not closed.

7.20.1 Identify Display information about the device type and firmware version.

7.20.2 Accept Enable the note acceptor for bills entry. A bunch of bills is expected to be inserted

within 15 seconds. Recognized bills stay in the escrow; recognition results are displayed.

7.22.1 Identify Display device information such as (depends on device type):

7.22.3 Eject Open the shutter and move the document to the entry slot for removal. The

document is expected to be removed within 15 seconds. For a multi-cheque device (SCPM with ERBM), all cheques currently present in

Infeed, Main Transport and Rebunch Module are ejected in that order. Every presented document or bunch of documents is expected to be removed within 15 seconds.

Before ejecting from rebunch, one cheque is moved there from escrow (if escrow is not empty). Please note that the eject test does not attempt to return all cheques from escrow via rebunch due to uncertainty of remaining rebunch capacity. If you need to return all cheques from the escrow, first perform REBUNCH test manually until escrow is empty or rebunch is full.

7.22.4 Endorse The cheque from the transport (or one cheque from the escrow for SCPM with

ERBM) is printed with “ABCD…WXYZ” on the rear. For CPM2/3/4 the cheque then remains in the transport; for SCPM it is moved to

capture bin 1. This test is not offered for UDPM.

7.22.5 Capture Bin 1 Move the document from the transport to the main bin. It is the only bin (for open

bin module), stacking bin (for stacking bin module) or the largest bin (for powered pocket bin module).

For a multi-cheque device (SCPM with ERBM), one cheque from Main Transport, Escrow or Infeed is captured by trying the modules in that order; operation stops as soon as first cheque is captured. Please note that the capture test does not attempt to capture all cheques from anywhere in the transport. If you need to do so, perform CLEAR test.

7.22.6 Capture Bin 2 Same as Capture Bin 1, but moves the document to the reject bin. This test is only

offered for stacking and powered pocket bin modules.

7.22.7 Capture Bin 3 Same as Capture Bin 1, but moves the document to the auxiliary bin. This test is

only offered for three-bin powered pocket bin modules.

7.22.8 Rebunch Move one document from the escrow to the rebunch. This test is only offered for

multi-cheque device (SCPM with ERBM).

7.22.9 Clear Move the all documents from anywhere in the transport to the reject bin (bin 2), if

present, otherwise to bin 1. For a multi-cheque device (SCPM with ERBM), all cheques from Main Transport,

Escrow and Infeed are captured in that order. Note that cheques already stacked in the

7.22.11 Read Front Image Read scanned image data of the front side of the document and display picture on

the screen for up to 10 seconds or until a key is pressed. The picture is displayed as 256-level grayscale by ATMdesk/Repair and as 16-

level grayscale by ATMdesk/Pro, /2 and /S. Please note that displaying color image (produced by the SCPM) is not supported by ATMdesk at this time.

For a multi-cheque device (SCPM with ERBM), the image of the last scanned cheque is displayed.

7.22.12 Read Rear Image Same as Read Front Image but reads and displays rear side of the document.

7.22.13 Read MICR Codeline Read scanned magnetic data and perform codeline recognition. For each character

the recognition confidence level is also displayed (‘9’ – best quality, ‘0’ – worst quality). Unrecognized characters are shown as ‘-’.

Only E13B font is supported by ATMdesk at this time. Please note that codeline recognition is done in software and therefore the

decoding results and misread ratio produced by ATMdesk may differ from what would be produced by ATM software. ATMdesk makes no attempt to compensate for poor quality MICR data or misoriented cheques by applying any OCR-related technologies.

7.22.14 Reset Re-initialize device; this is also known as “Device Integrity Test”.

Error Logs menu allows ATM Error Logs to be examined.

Depending on the ATM Platform, the following logs are available: S4i (OS/2-based):

• Hardware Logs • Communications Logs • Processor and System Logs

APTRA (Windows based): • Hardware Logs • Communications Logs • Software Logs

Hardware logs can be filtered by service (device) name. You can browse complete

log (all devices) or only records for selected device.

8.2 View Tallies

View Tallies menu allows ATM Device Tallies to be examined.

The tallies are displayed in two columns.

First column displays tallies maintained by the ATM Platform (APTRA/S4i). Second column displays tallies accumulated by ATMdesk during current session.

NOTE: ATMdesk own tallies accumulated during current session are volatile: they

are not saved between sessions, nor they added to ATM’s tallies maintained by the ATM Platform.

8.3 Clear Error Logs and Tallies

Clear Error Logs and Clear Tallies menus allow to clear selectively one of the ATM’s Error Logs or Device’s Tallies. This will clear appropriate information maintained by the ATM platform (Aptra/S4i).

saved to a floppy disk or USB flash (see sect [4]) • For ATMdesk/Repair they can be found in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\atmdesk.log
