Safety Rules

As with all machinery there are certain hazards involved with the operation and use. Using it with caution will considerably lessen the possibility of personal injury. However, if normal safety precautions are overlooked or ignored, personal injury to the operator may result. If you have any questions relative to the installation and operation, do not use the equipment until you have contacted your supplying distributor. Read the following carefully before operating the machine:

1. Keep the working area clean and be sure adequate lighting is available.

2. Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, bracelets, necklaces or ornaments. Wear face, eye, respiratory and body protection devices as indicated for the operation or environment.

3. Be sure that the power is disconnected from the machine before tools are serviced or an attachment is to be fitted or removed.

4. Never leave the machine with the power on. 5. Do not use dull, gummy or cracked cutting tools. 6. Be sure that the keys and adjusting wrenches have been

removed and all the nuts and bolts are secured.

Limited Warranty New woodworking machines sold by Laguna Tools carry a one-year warranty from the date of shipping. Laguna Tools guarantees all new machines sold to be free of manufacturers’ defective workmanship, parts, and materials. We will repair or replace, without charge, any parts determined by Laguna Tools, Inc. to be a manufacturer's defect. We require the defective item/part to be returned to Laguna Tools. In the event the item/part is determined to be damaged due to lack of maintenance, cleaning or misuse/abuse, the customer will be responsible for the cost to replace the item/part, plus all related shipping charges. This limited warranty does not apply to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, normal wear and tear, product failure due to lack of maintenance or cleaning, damage caused by accident, neglect, lack of or inadequate dust collection or misuse/abuse or damage caused when repair or alterations have been made or attempted by others. Laguna Tools, Inc. is not responsible for additional tools or modifications sold or performed (other than from/by Laguna Tools, Inc.) on any Laguna Tools, Inc. woodworking machine. Warranty may be voided upon the addition of such noted tools and/or modifications, determined on a case-by-case basis. Normal user alignment, adjustment, tuning and machine settings are not covered by this warranty. It is the responsibility of the user to understand basic woodworking machinery settings and procedures and to properly maintain the equipment in accordance with the standards provided by the manufacturer. Parts, under warranty, are shipped at Laguna Tools, Inc's cost either by common carrier, FedEx Ground service or a similar method. Noise emission. Notes concerning noise emission: Given that there exists a relationship between noise level and exposure times, it is not precise enough to determine the need for supplementary precautions. The factors affecting the true level of exposure to operators are clearly the amount of time exposed, the characteristics of the working environment, other sources of dust and noise, etc, for example, adjacent machines, in other words, the level of ambient noise. It is possible that exposure level limits will vary from country to country. Specification sheet ATSAW2000-0180.

Receiving your Router Table Attachment. Note:- It is probable that your machine will be delivered by a third party. Before you unpack your Router Table Attachment, you will need to first inspect the packing, invoice and shipping documents supplied by the driver. Insure that there is no visible damage to the packing or the Router Table Attachment. You need to do this prior to the driver leaving. All damage must be noted on the delivery documents and signed by you and the delivery driver. You must then contact the seller [Laguna Tools] within 24 hours. Note:- It is probable that you will find sawdust within your Router Table Attachment . This is because the Router Table Attachment has been tested prior to shipment from the factory and or Laguna Tools. Note:- Laguna Tools endeavors to test machines prior to shipping to customers, as movement can take place during transportation. It must be noted that additional machine movement can take place between Laguna Tools and the end-user, and some adjustments may

have to be undertaken by the customer. These adjustments are covered in the various sections of this manual. Introduction to the Router Table Attachment. This router table attachment is designed to give you years of safe service. Read this owner’s manual in its entirety before assembly or use.

1. Table. The table is made from cast iron and has four miter slots to allow the fence to be fitted in any one of four orientations. Underneath it has four “T” slots to allow the router clamps to attach almost any router to the table. 2. Jointer shims. The jointer shims are fitted behind the out fence to allow the router to be used as a jointer. 3. Fence plate. There are two fence plates [one on either side of the cutter]. They are adjustable sideways to suite the job in hand. The out put fence plate can be adjusted with the use of shims to move it away from the aluminum fence and turn the router attachment into a jointer. 4. Pivot pin. There are two locations for the pivot pin to suite the set up that you are using. 5. Blanking discs. Two blanking discs are supplied to suite the router and cutter that you are using. 6. Guard.

The guard is made from clear plastic to allow the cutter to be viewed and is adjustable vertically to afford maximum protection. 7. Dust hood.

The dust hood has an out put tube of 2 ¼ inches for attachment to your dust collector. The dust hood should be attached to a dust collector with a minimum capacity of 1000 cu ft per minuet. The stronger the dust collector the better, as the router generates a lot of sawdust and wood chips. 8. Clamp handles. The router fence is fitted with two clamp handles to allow the fence to be adjusted and clamped is the position to suite the job in hand. 9. Aluminum fence. The aluminum fence supports the fence plates and the dust hood. 10. Router clamps. There are three router clamps that fit into “T” slots on the under side of the table. They are adjustable and will fit most routers. 11. Table support leg. A support leg is supplies that attaches to the table.

Unpacking your Router Table Attachment. 1. Dismantle the box. 2. Using the knife, cut the plastic wrap. 3. Remove all the parts that have been packed with the Router Table Attachment. Note:- If you have any doubt about the described procedure, seek

professional assistance. Do not attempt any procedure that you feel is unsafe, or that you do not have the physical capability of achieving.

Packaged Router Table Attachment.

Cleaning the Router Table Attachment. Remove the rust protection grease with WD 40 or a similar solvent. It is important that you remove all the grease and re lubricate with a Teflon- based lubricant, as Teflon has less tendency to attract sawdust and cause clogging. You should also wax the fence as this also protects and reduces friction.

Assembly and set up.

The Router Table Attachment can fit on most table saws, either using the existing holes on the side of the table saw, or by drilling and tapping 3 or 4 holes. The table has three holes on one side, and on the opposite side it has four holes. It is not important which set of holes are used and it is suggested that you select the set of holes that is match your saw.

1. Remove your existing side table from your saw [if fitted]. 2. Measure the centers both vertically [from the top of the table] and horizontally [along the length of the table] 3. Check if the hole centers are the same as the holes in the router table. 4. If the holes do not line up, holes will have to be drilled in either the

router table or the saw table [see methods A, B, and C]. 5. If the holes line up, fit the support leg to the router table as shown above. This will give stability to the router table, and take most of the weight so that you will be stabilizing it, and not holding the full weight. 6. Hold the router table against the saw table with the top of the

router table level with the top of the saw table. 7. Fit the socket head bolts and washer [do not fully tighten]. 8. Adjust the table vertically so that the router table is level with the saw table and fully tighten the fixing bolts. Should the holes not line up, mark the position of the holes, three methods can be used. A. Spot through the existing holes in the router table onto the saw table. B. Spot through the existing holes in the saw table onto the router

table. C. Mark the saw table or router table with the required hole centers,

centre punch and drill. Note:- Which ever method is selected care should be taken and the procedure should never be rushed.

Method ”A” 1. Fit the support leg to the router table as shown above. This will

give stability to the router table and take most of the weight so that you will be stabilizing it, and not holding the full weight. 2. Hold the router table against the saw table with the top of the router table level with the top of the saw table. 3. With the two table’s level, spot thought the router table hole with a

drill. 4. Remove the router table and drill a small pilot hole in the saw table. 5. Open the hole to a size that will allow clearance for the screw. 6. Fit the router table and clamp with the bolt and nut. 7. Repeat the procedure for the right hand fixing hole. 8. Once both outside fixings are complete repeat for the central hole or holes. 9. Adjust the table vertically so that the router table is level with the saw table. Note:- You may have to elongate one or more of the holes, either up

or down to ensure that the router table is level with the saw table. Method B. This is basically the same as method “A,” but spotting through the saw table onto the router table. This may not be practical depending on the access inside of your table saw. Method C. Mark the saw table or router table with the required hole centers, centre punch and drill.

1. Slide the two “T” bars into the selected “T” slots. 2. Place the router fence over the threaded studs and assemble the two clamp handles. Note:- The router fence can be fitted to any of the “T” slots to suit

your preference and the job in hand. Fitting the router to the table.

Router attachment

The router is attached to the underside of the table with the router clamps. The clamps can be fitted to any of the “T” slots to suite the router that you are fitting. The clamps have jacking screws to aid in clamping the router.

Note:- The clamps should be spaced equally around the circumference of the router to ensure equal secure clamping. Note:- Align the spindle of the router central to the hole in the table. It

is not important that the spindle is exactly central. Fitting the dust hose.

Fit a 2 ¼ inches diameter dust hose between your dust collector and the to the dust hood. Ensure that the dust hose is securely clamped. Note:- The dust collector should have a minimum capacity of 1000 cu feet per minute, but the stronger the dust collector the better, as the

router creates a lot of wood chips and dust. Blanking discs.

Two blanking discs are supplied to suite the router and cutter that you are using. The discs are a snug fit and may need to be sanded to suite the router table hole. When sanding ensure that the location tag is not removed or damaged. This is used to locate the disc in the router table hole. Pivot pin.

The jointer shims are fitted behind the out fence to allow the router to be used as a jointer. By selecting either all or single shims, the fence can be adjusted for different thicknesses of cut. To fit the shims, loosen the fence plate clamp screws, Insert the required shims and re clamp the screws.

Fence plates To adjust the fence plates to the required position, loosen the screws, slide the plates to the required position and re clamp. Guard. To adjust the guard, loosen the clamp screws, adjust the guard, and re clamp. Weekly maintanince. 1. Check all nuts and bolts are tight 2. Clean the machine. Make sure that all moveing parts are clean and free from saw dust and dirt. 3. Lubricate all moveing parts with a Teflon based lubricant. 4. Wax the table and all none painted parts.
