Effective repellent combinations to be applied directly to birds andpoultry as proactive ‘on bird’ deterrents to infestation or to rectify anexisting problem.A liquid ‘Concentrate’ - For knapsack application directly onto the

birds. Dilute contents of container in one go - Ongoing maintenance - 1part product to 50 parts water and where Infestation Exists – 1 partproduct to 20 parts water and repeat within 7 days. Regularly check your animals for ticks, particularly around the head, ears, legs and paws, as the presence of a tick isvery uncomfortable and can lead to skin problems and disease.

Several species of tick have been reported in the U.K. Ticks have complicated four life stages: Egg, six-legged larva,eight-legged nymph and adult. Visible with the naked eye at all stages, they become active in spring, early summer and

autumn, when temperatures are above 70C.

Ticks prefer the moisture and protection of uncultivated pasture, but can quite easily be picked up in parks andgardens. Brushed off grasses and shrubs by passing animals they spend several days as blood-suckingtemporary parasites. Unable to jump or fly, they crawl into position, pierce the animal’s skin with their mouths;squirt saliva to act as an anti-coagulant and firmly fix themselves with their backward-pointing barbs, that preventeasy removal. Attempts to remove ticks without making them relax; is painful to the animal, can result in themouthpiece being left behind under the skin and cause infection to set in. Once engorged with blood the tick willdrop to the ground to continue its lifecycle that can take up to 3 years.

Due to the slow, blood sucking nature of a tick, they are among the most efficient carriers of disease. The best way toprotect your animals against tick-borne diseases is to avoid tick bites.

Scaly LegMite cause pain and intense irritation for the bird as they burrow under the scales and into the skin of the legsand sometimes the comb and wattles. Check for the tell tail signs of crusty, white deposits on enlarged, roughand lumpy legs where the scales have become raised. Scaly Leg Spray repels mite, whilst soothing andcalming irritation. Effective control for Red Mite and other insect pests in poultry and animal housing with a high dilution rate of1:20 parts water (One 500ml bottle produces 10L of treatment). Barrier Red mite X Concentrate is non-toxicand safe to use around feed areas, egg layers and foodstuffs and controls red mite using a physical mode ofaction. It has a slightly sticky consistency which when applied directly to insect pests, breaks down the waxcoating causing dehydration and death. Poultry can be returned to treated housing once area has dried.
