Vocation General Intercessions January 2019/Cycle C

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God -- January 1, 2019 [Holyday of Obligation] That Mary, the Mother of God and patroness of Vocations will nurture, guide and protect all those called to the priesthood, diaconate and the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord. The Epiphany -- January 6, 2019 That, just as the Magi were inspired by the Holy Spirit, young men and women will be inspired to follow in the footsteps of the Lord as priests, deacons and consecrated religious, we pray to the Lord. The Baptism of the Lord -- January 13, 2018 That, like John the Baptist, all those called by the Lord to serve his church will accept his invitation, we pray to the Lord. Second Sunday in Ordinary Time -- January 20, 2019 That all those especially chosen by Christ for the unique paths of holiness as priests, deacons or in the consecrated life, will heed our Blessed Mother’s counsel to do whatever He tells them in loving obedience, we pray to the Lord. Third Sunday in Ordinary Time -- January 27, 2019 For all men and women called by Jesus to teach the Gospel as priests, deacons, sisters and brothers, that the joy of the Lord will remain their strength during their discernment, formation and mission, we pray to the Lord.

Stewardship Bulletin Inserts for January 2019

English and Spanish

January 6, 2019 - Epiphany of Our Lord “…the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body, and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel.” (EPHESIANS 3:6)

Today we celebrate that Christ came to all of us, not just the Hebrews. He has given each of us unique gifts. We all have different yet equally valuable roles to play in the Body of Christ. Pray daily and ask God how He wants you to use your gifts so that we may all “be one”. January 13, 2019 - Baptism of the Lord “John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming…he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit... ’” (Luke 3:16)

The Catholic Catechism states that “Jesus’ immersion in the water is a sign for all human beings of the need to die to themselves to do God’s will.” In other words, as baptized Catholics there is only one gift that we need to give to Jesus – the gift of ourselves. Surrender yourself to God, place your trust in Him and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you for the greater glory of God. January 20, 2019 - 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time “To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” (1 CORINTHIANS 12:7)

St. Paul tells us that God has blessed each of us for a reason. How has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God’s plan? How are you helping to build God’s kingdom here on earth? Remember that if you don’t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it. Live the life God has intended for you, feel His love, peace and joy! January 27, 2019 - 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time “Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared…” (NEHEMIAH 8:10)

Ezra’s instructions to the people show us that God does not forbid us from enjoying the good things in life. He wants us to be happy! However, God expects us to be grateful for all that He has given us and to generously share our blessings with those who are in need without expecting anything in return.

Stewardship Bulletin Inserts for January 2019
