Organisations also face greater requirements to report progress on diversity and inclusion, whether that be from regulators such as the Australian Securities Exchange or the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, in government tenders, or from increasingly discerning employees and customers.

Effective management of workplace diversity and inclusion is clearly linked to improvements in organisational performance, effectiveness, profitability and revenue generation.

Leaders in managing diversity and inclusion continue to demonstrate that effective diversity and inclusion management leads to significant business benefits.

Harnessing diverse talent in all its forms is going to be essential to meeting the challenges of skill shortages, global labour market competition and an ageing population.

Organisations need to look beyond traditional ways of accessing talent to generate the innovation and performance needed to meet these challenges.

Attracting and retaining talent is becoming increasingly difficult and more organisations are finding that their talent pipeline does not reflect the breadth and depth of capabilities that will be required to deliver on medium and long term business plans.

Diversity Council Australia is the independent not-for-profit peak body leadingdiversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Diversity Council Australia has over 400 members, many of which are Australia’s business diversity and inclusion leaders and biggest employers.

Our members are drawn from across the corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors and vary from small to large workforces in size. Our founding members who are still with us today include ANZ, AMP, BHP, Boral, Coles, IBM Australia, Myer, Orica, Rio Tinto and Westpac.

We provide unique research, inspiring events and programs, curated resources and expert advice across all diversity dimensions to a community of member organisations.

– Lieutenant General (Retired) David Morrison AO, DCA Chair

Diversity Council Australia is the only organisation in my mind that proactively works to understand today’s diversity issues in the workplace but, more importantly, how they might help organisations adapt their leadership and strategies to educate their people more effectively.
