Attracting Young People to the Industry Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 1:00 p.m. Moderator: Pete Miller, CPCU CEO The Institutes Malvern, Pa. Peter L. Miller is president and CEO of The Institutes and is a member of The Institutes’ executive council. Peter leads the boards of directors of the CPCU Society and the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, as a result of the affiliation of these organizations with The Institutes in 2012. Miller also serves ex-officio as a member of The Institutes’ board of trustees. Before he was named president and CEO in July 2006, Peter served as the interim and acting president and CEO, with full management responsibility of The Institutes. Previously, he was executive vice president with responsibility for the organization’s business operations. Before joining The Institutes in 1992, Peter worked as a computer consultant and as a project coordinator for Intracorp, a subsidiary of CIGNA Corporation. Peter is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in economics and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and has completed an extensive amount of Ph.D.-level work in computer information systems. Miller holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation from The Institutes. He serves as a member of the board of the Insurance Institute of Switzerland and Gamma Iota Sigma. He is chairman of the Institute for Global Insurance Education. He is a member of the University of Farmers Board of Regents and a member of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America InVEST board of trustees.

Noelle Codispoti Executive Director Gamma Iota Sigma Norristown, Pa. Noelle Codispoti joined Gamma Iota Sigma as its first employee in January 2011. She previously spent six years with ACE USA in its New York City and Philadelphia offices. Most recently, she served as underwriting manager for ACE Professional Risk, managing the general partners’ liability underwriting unit. Noelle received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University in 2005 with a dual major in actuarial science and risk management. She held various officer positions within the Sigma chapter, including serving as president from the fall 2003 semester until the spring 2005 semester. Additionally, Noelle served on the executive committee of the Grand chapter as the international student representative during the 2004-2005 academic year. Noelle was recognized for her leadership with Gamma Iota Sigma as a student through the receipt of the Warren L. Weeks Award in 2004 and the Alan C. William Leadership Award in 2005. She holds the Associate in Risk Management designation from the Insurance Institute of America. Noelle has been a member of the executive committee of the board of trustees of GIS since 2004. She also serves as a member of the Griffith Foundation Leadership Council and the Risk and Insurance Management Society's Student Advisory Council.

Sue McNab VP & Chief People Services Officer PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company Seattle, Wash.

Sue McNab is vice president and chief human resources officer for PEMCO Financial Services. In this role, Sue is responsible for human resources, learning and organizational development, enterprise services, and community relations. She is also a member of the executive committee. Sue has an MBA from the University of Puget Sound, a master’s degree from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. On the professional front, Sue has worked as an executive for Fortune 500 companies, such as Monsanto, P&G, and Starbucks as well as for successful startups such as Wizards of the Coast. Sue took a sabbatical from 1991 until 1996 to circumnavigate the globe as part of the first all-woman sailing crew. The crew attempted a world-record sailing expedition to traverse the Canadian Arctic’s Northwest Passage in 1996, and Sue narrated and photographed for the PBS special “Five in the Ice.” Sue currently serves on the Ethnic Heritage Council, the KCTS Public Television advisory board, and the Center for Wooden Boats board. She is a past board member of Seattle Rotary, Intiman Theater, and the Girl Scouts of Western Washington. She has also been a keynote speaker for the SHRM state council, Girl Scouts of the USA, Cruising Club of America, and the Rotary Club of Seattle.

Jason Terrell Program Director Griffith Insurance Education Foundation Columbus, Ohio

Jason Terrell is a program director for The Institutes. In his role, he works closely with the Engaging the Next Generation programs, which include the Society, Loman, and the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation. He also manages the Griffith Foundation’s K-12 and higher-education programs. Through his work, Jason developed and implemented a national Insurance Literacy certification program for teachers and students, created and implemented a federal Insurance 101 course for congressional staff, led the development of an enterprise risk management program for academics, and most recently oversaw the Insurance Education and Career Summit, with the goal to create an industry-wide millennial talent attraction program. Jason joined the organization in 2005. He also serves on several boards, including the National Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, the Society of Insurance Research, and Gamma Iota Sigma.
