The sheer scale and the beauty of Vasa is breathtaking, almost 700 wooden sculptures and figures adorn her length and breadth. The Vasa, the pride of the Swedish navy makes her maiden voyage. The museum tells the story of how she was built and sunk, and how she was lifted from the murky depths in order to be preserved for future generations to experience.

The Butterfly House Haga Ocean includes one of Scandinavia’s largest shark aquariums. Large and small reef sharks as well as numerous exotic, colourful fish swim together in the 30 meter long aquarium that holds 1.2 million liters of water. At the aquarium you can see the Sandbar Shark, one of the biggest coastal sharks in the world easily distinguishable by its very high first dorsal fin.

The factory started in 1833 by Knut August Almgren. On a health trip to France he learned to use the latest weaving technology, with the fabric pattern translated to punch cards. At its peak in 1864 the mill had for buildings at Södermalm, a 196 looms and over 280 employees, mostly women.

Welcome to the Swedish Postal Museum! The museum is housed in the oldest building in the Swedish postal organisation, dating back to the 17th century. It was purchased by the Post Office in 1720, and until 1869 housed Stockholm’s only post office. The museum was opened in 1906 and is owned by PostNord.

Sweden’s most beautiful art museum, formerly the residence of Prince Eugen, is today a popular art museum, with varied and extensive exhibitions and events to match. Prince Eugen was among the finest landscape painters of his generation and an art collector of note, with special emphasis on Swedish art. The Collections number around 7,000 works and comprise paintings, sculptures and crafts objects.

Sven-Harry’s art museum, a wonderfully golden building designed by Gert Wingårdh and Anna Höglund, unites a variety of activities: in addition to the art gallery and Sven-Harry’s “home”, it also houses a restaurant, apartments and commercial premises. The museum has a broad and varied spectrum of contemporary and classical art and endeavour constantly to expand with exhibitions and collaborations.

The Thiel Gallery is a museum filled with turn-of-the-century Nordic art. Symbolism and national romanticism are on display here in a contemporary setting, in the form of works by among others Anders Zorn, Bruno Liljefors, Carl Larsson and Edvard Munch. The park surrounding the Gallery contains sculptures by among others Auguste Rodin and Gustav Vigeland.



20 SKYVIEW

From the apex 130 meters (425 feet) above sea level, you´ll get a fantastic view encompassing all of Stockholm. The two SkyView gondolas departs every 10 minutes, and the entire visit takes about 20 minutes. Restaurant, café and souvenir shop are adjacent to SkyView. SkyView was inagurated in 2010. The roof construction of Ericsson Globe was reinforced with 42 tons of steel and then mounted a further 70 tonnes of rails.
