A waiter is one who serves food and/or beverage in a food and beverage outlet.

Other terminologies used for waiter steward or in French; commis-de-rang.

A waiters' skill includes job skill social skill behavioral skill and communication skill. Other qualities that a waiter should have

a pleasing personality, salesmanship, right attitude to serve.

The quality of food service organization depends upon the quality of the waiting staff working in that organization. The role of the waiting staff in making a guest's meal experience is really vital. Interior decoration, posh ambience can do nothing if the waiting staff is poorly performed. so that the skills that possess by a waiter is very important for the success of the food service

Personal Attributes is related to the personal well being of a waiter, which includes two aspects.

1. Personal hygiene and

2. Personal appearance

The personal hygiene is all about the being excellent in his/ her physical well being.

Personal appearance is very important for a waiter, because he/she should be at his/her best during the duty time.

They forget to thank the customer or fail to acknowledge a tip.

They cadge for tips count tips or jingle coins in their pockets.

They are bad tempered or indifferent . They talk too much to guest at their

table, when guests are talking to each other.

They ignore guests by talking among themselves

They hurry customers to get their “stations” clear in order that they can leave early.

They don’t speak formally. They spill food on the guest, while serving

it. They add up bills wrongly (against the

customer) They eat during the service. They don’t carry the “waiter’s cloth” in the

designated manner.
