Audience Feedback

QuestionnaireWe gave out a questionnaire after we had a screening with around 40 people in the media room. We showed our short film and held a short speech afterwards.

The feedback was very positive, people liked the fact that we tried something new and went crazy with the camera.

So we evaluated the answers and made some statistics.

What Age classification would you give this movie?

12 (7 people)15 (20 people)18 (3 people)

We agreed with the majority of people that our film would be rated 15, not only because of the bad language, but also the message of the film. More about that is on the Age classification power point, which I made.

What genre would you class our film?

Drama (8 people)Action (12 people)Comedy (3 people)Thriller (7 people)

Our film is a Crime Thriller, but still people saw it as an action/drama film. We asked around why that is and the answer was that the drama and action aspects stuck out. We believe that the reason for that is the fact that most of the drama and action was at the end of the film, which is the most memorable part of the film.

Over all rating out of 10

8910

The results of that were amazing, because all the ratings were 8 or higher, which shows us that we were able to target our audience successfully and we were able to entertain for 20 minutes.

The over all reaction was that our film didn’t need any cutting, even though some individuals thought that some scenes were dragged out like the fight scene or the library scene.

People really enjoyed the music and the over all look of the film, because it reminded them of real media products.

The bad language had a rather positive effect on the audience, because it was mostly students in the room. Instead of being offending, it sort of added a bit of flavour. Some students said that the swearing was slightly over done but they didn’t mind it.

Everybody was surprised on how good the acting actually was, because they knew the actors personally and didn’t expect such a degree of talent.

Everybody in the audience actually watched the film in their free time and gave us positive feedback on Facebook or via text.

After we posted the video on YouTube, we shared it on Facebook and got a massive amount of feedback back. People were talking about how surprised they were, because they didn’t expect such a great amount of acting and shot selection.

ConclusionIn most cases our expectations of our audience feedback were fulfilled, but we also got constructive criticism. For example some sound effects were too loud and a few cuts were not timed right.

All in all the feedback was great and constructive. So we could say that we did a pretty good job with our media studies production.
