Questionnaire results

3. What have you learned from your audience

feedback?

Page 2: Audience Feedback Graphs

1. Are you male or female?

Four members of the group were male, and four were female. This is good because our results represent both males and females, and are therefore more valid, as we

were targeting both sexes.

2. How old are you?

We chose to survey people in our school as this was convenient, however this age group represent the

majority of our target audience, as people of this age may be able to relate to the context of our film slightly better

then others e.g. through the school setting.

3. What would you rate the video out of 10?

It is pleasing to see that our video averaged at an 8 out of 10. For a first time attempt at creating a short film, I

would say that this is more than satisfactory.

4. Was the genre of the film clear?

100% of the people surveyed said that the genre (action-comedy) of the film was clear.

5. What do you think was the weakest part of the production?

Most of the criticism for our film was about the sounds and music, with the general view being that they were too loud or

overpowering. I made the sounds this way for a particular reason (as mentioned above), but if were to edit the film again, I would

definitely take this into account. However, as this was the only weakness mentioned during the focus group discussion, it is

possible that this weakness was the only one members of the focus group could think of.

6. What do you think was the strongest part of the production?

Half of the focus group said that they thought the story line was the strongest part of the production, this is important

because we wanted the storyline to be clear due to the possibility of it being confusing. Pleasingly, they also picked

up on the editing, acting and camera angles.

7. Was it clear who the protagonist (Hero – Jon) and the antagonist (Villain – Arran) was?

100% said yes. This is important as we tried to keep our main character types similar to a couple stated in Vladimir Propp’s theory of characters (the hero and

villain), though we did not adhere to this theory completely.

8. Were the fonts used appropriate (opening and closing sequence)?

100% believed that the fonts used were appropriate in the opening and closing sequence, and therefore fitting with the film. This is especially important in the closing

sequence where the majority of text appears.

9. Did the sound effects of the production match the actions?

100% said that the sound effects of the production matched the action, which slightly contradict the results

for question 5, thus possibly proving that the majority only chose the sound as a weakness as it was mentioned by

some people previously in the discussion.

10. On a scale of 1 – 10, how funny did you find the short film?

Three people gave our film and 8 out of 10 for humour, whilst two gave it a 10. This shows that our target audience found our film funny, which is very important as our film is

an action-comedy. 1 person gave our film a 6, however, which means some find our film funnier than others.

11. As a whole, did the video production look professional?

Everybody thought our film looked professional.

12. Would you recommend the video to others?

All of our focus group would recommend our video to others. This is easy to do using the internet, where people can share our video at the click of a button using via popular sites such as Youtube and Facebook etc... This is key because it means

that our video is likely to be watched widely.

13. Do you think the rating of the film is appropriate?

Everyone agreed that the BBFC rating of ‘PG’ was appropriate for our film, which therefore coincides with

the research done into the PG film classification.
