The gender of our sample was quite even in result, therefore our news broadcast will include news suitable for both genders and news that would interest both genders. Both our hard news and soft news is suitable for both genders as for example many people of different sexes may like rock bands etc.

Our sample mainly consists of ages from 15-50 therefore our plan is to mainly include news that would be suitable for these ages rather than news about the royal family which is usually preferred by the much older generations.

The results state that our sample would like to see news about a range of different topics such as politics, economics etc. This will allow us to shape our hard news and soft news to fit the chosen types.

Middle and working class people are the majority of our sample therefore our news story would be presented in a sophisticated manner with formal clothing, slow speech and in a professional setting. Also, animation may be used to help and aid some of the working class people to comprehend and understand the stories better.

Apart from the main white British ethnicity, there is a mix of different ethnicities therefore the news we portray will be aimed at all ethnicities and include/ be important to all ethnicities. We’re going to focus on all ethnicities as the west midlands is populated by a large mixture of different cultures and ethnicities. Therefore, by doing this we’ll maximise the audience viewing of our broadcast.

There is an equal split of people watching the news with their families and without. This shows that there is quite the number of people that would be affected by the news many of which would be kids therefore we plan to have a soft news story in order to diffuse the tension created by hard news story. Also, by having a soft news story we can engage the younger generation aging from 10-15 by showing news that are less severe.

Our sample mainly comes from the West Midlands rather than anywhere else. Although our broadcast aims to involve people in all of the midlands. Therefore we’ve removed the image of the bull in order to not disenfranchise the other locations and in order to not show favouritism to one location of the midlands.

The most wanted headlines are “increased drug possesion amongst young adults” and “Birmingham band signed by Masrecords”. These stories we can use as our hard news and soft news as they affect all ages especially parents and their children along with rock fans.
