It provides alarm and voice evacuation messaging to building occupants, while facilitating an emergency intercom system for fire wardens to co-ordinate and carry out evacuation procedures. GE’s EWIS has recently been tested and approved to AS2220.1 - 2004 and to comply with AS1670.4 - 2004 Australian standards as a fully functioning networked EWIS system. GE’s EWIS is simple to operate. With user-friendly colour coded membrane keypads, it can provide dedicated controls for each audio and WIP (Warden Intercom Phone) zone on the system. The EWIS provides an automatic staged sequencing of alert and evacuation tones that can prioritize zones in close proximity to the alarm. Programming of these sequences is flexible enough to suit any building type from a high rise to a multi-building facility to evacuate the most dangerous areas first in a well-staged and orderly manner. The evacuation sequence can be initiated manually from an EWIS panel, from a manual call point (break glass), or automatically by the fire alarm system. EWIS configurations range from a simple SECP (Secondary Emergency Control Panel) with audio and WIP controls, to combination EWIS and EST3 , to powerful EWIS system with large capacity for zone amplifiers and batteries. Flexible and ModularGE’s EWIS is modular and flexible and comes in a range of configurations and cabinets to support any project requirement. All amplifiers, power supplies and controls now come preassembled in individual 19” rackmounted modules. This design allows ease in installation, upgrade, servicing and maintenance of your EWIS system.

Background Music Areas Every audio zone on the panel comes standard with individual Background music (BGM) inputs. Utilising an AU-EPCBGMC field module, zones can be further subdivided for different BGM areas and still act as a single zone during emergency evacuation.

Flexible Manual Call Point ActivationsGE’s EWIS supports 3 wire WIP/Manual call point connections. The manual call points can be programmed to trigger individual or multiple audio zones across the EWIS network.

Battery Capacity& Monitoring GE’s EWIS can support up to 200AH batteries in one cabinet and can monitor and detect battery failure even when multiple battery sets are operating in parallel.

ScalableGE’s EWIS can network up to 8 EWIS panels with capacity to network up to 128 audio zones and 128 WIP zones.

Crystal Clear Digital AudioGE’s unique EWIS network supports true digital audio transmission throughout your EWIS system via an ISDN network. This ensures crystal clear audio that eliminates the risk of interference or signal attenuation when communicating over a PA or WIP.

RedundancyThe EWIS network provides full redundancy in both voice and data communications, allowing high quality audio with outstanding reliability.

More High Powered Amplifiers GE’s EWIS can support large numbers of high powered amplifiers. The ASSY-AU-EWISDEEP for example can house up to 16 X 100/200W amplifiers in the one cabinet.

High Level Fire System InterfaceGE’s EWIS can provide the option of high-level integration (HLI) to GE’s EST3 and certain other fire detection systems. This allows the EWIS and fire detection system to communicate seamlessly, eliminating costly and cumbersome wiring of output modules to individual zones. GE’s EWIS still comes standard with individual zone inputs for systems without HLI capability.
