Cinderella, the beautiful and kind-hearted daughter, sees her world turn upside down when her beloved mother dies, and her pained father remarries another woman, the wicked Lady Tremaine, who has two equally cruel daughters, the jealous Grace and Joy. But, once more, things will go from bad to worse, When Cinderella’s father, too, dies, leaving her all alone in the Lady’s clutches to serve as her maid-of-all-work. Under those circumstances, a shabby and neglected Cinderella doesn’t stand much of a chance of attending the King’s royal ball - let alone, captivate the handsome Prince - unless she turns to her loving Fairy Godmother who has quite a few tricks up her sleeve. Nevertheless, will the wronged damsel ever find peace - and with it - her own Prince Charming?
Unassumingly nestled within Beenleigh showgrounds, Phoenix Ensemble has been producing award-winning theatre for nearly 30 years. From intimate small-cast shows to more elaborate Broad-way-style show stoppers ‘The Tin Shed’ has been a heart of the community for a quarter of a century and has no plans to stop any time soon!
Phoenix Ensemble presents a unique theatre experience in the Pavilion Theatre or what has affection-ately become known as “The Tin Shed”. This intimate theatre accommodates 99 people in comfortable raked seating giving every patron an up close and personal experience. Our shows both rehearse and perform at this theatre, which is located within the Beenleigh Showgrounds, James Street, Beenleigh, approximately 25 minutes south of Brisbane CBD and 25 minutes north of the Gold Coast.
Phoenix Ensemble’s aim is to produce an eclectic mix of shows from family favourites to shows that push the envelope of musical theatre. They have won countless awards and are regularly nominated in the Gold Coast Arts Palm Awards.
Upon accepting a role with Phoenix Ensemble you will be required to become a financial member on the first rehearsal ($24, payable only by Credit/Debit Card). At this same time a $25 Cash Deposit is re-quired for rehearsal materials which will be provided (this is returned during Bump Out). Membership ensures all participants are covered by our Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance. You will receive more information upon acceptance. You will be asked to provide very little else during your time with us as we prefer to let you enjoy your experience!

SALLYFAINT
Musical Director
Sally is in love with everything about musical theatre and has a range of
experience both on and off the stage. Some of her on stage credits include
performing in Phoenix Ensembles Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as Grandma Josephine and Kinky Books as a member of the ensem-
ble; Ipswich Orpheus Choral’s Jesus Christ Superstar as an Apostle; and Townsville Choral Society’s Sound of Music as Sister Sophia. She has
also played flute and/or reeds in the orchestra for shows such as Phoenix Ensemble’s Little Miss Sunshine and
Witches of Eastwick, 24 Hour Musical Projects Witches of Eastwick and
Kiss Me Kate and Ipswich Orpheus Choral’s Beauty and the Beast. Her creative team experience includes being assistant musical director for
Savoyards’ production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; 24 Hour Musical’s production of Sound of Mu-sic; and choreographer for Townsville Choral Society’s production of Sound
of Music.
Sally is very excited to bring the beautiful music of Rodgers and
Hammerstein to life in this production of Cinderella as musical director and is looking forward to woking this this
wonderful creative team.
ANGESCHOEMAKER
Co-Choreographer
Ange has been on the stage perform-ing since the tender age of 4, and it’s been one big love affair with musical
theatre since then! She has many stage credits to her name including: Phyllis in 42nd Street; Mrs Hopkins
in My Fair Lady; ‘Old Woman’ in Les Miserables (haha very appropriate
these days); Anne in Anne of Green Gables; Grace in Annie; and Ronette in Little Shop of Horrors. But two of
her most recent roles are her two favourites to date: Trish in Phoenix Ensemble’s Kinky Boots and June in Savoyards’ Production of Chica-
go. Ange moved from the stage to dip her toe in the ‘creatives’ side of
musical theatre when she was assistant choreographer for Savoyards’ Boy
From Oz. It is with much excitement that she continues on the produc-tion side and joins her close friend
Melanie Southall, partnering together to choreograph Cinderella. And with Julianne, Darcy and Sally too, Ange is more than ready to bring some
fairytale magic to life.
“Why, it’s like a dream. A wonderful dream come true! – Cinderella”
MELANIESOUTHALL
Co-Choreographer
Mel is excited to be sharing the role of choreographer with Ang Schoemaker.
A creative partnership we hope will bring the fairytale of a Cinderella alive on stage at Phoenix. Mel has
a long history of dance experience including teaching, choreographing and performing. She has performed
onstage in a range of shows including 42nd Street, Anything Goes, Thor-
oughly Modern Millie, Savoyards 50th Anniversary Show, Nice Work and recently Kinky Boots. Mel enjoyed
the role of Assistant choreographer for Savoyards Chicago and also a tap choreo for QMT’s production of Cats. She looks forward to the journey with an amazing Production team who aim to bring an enchanting theatrical ex-perience to the stage, in the fairytale
of, Cinderella.
DARCYMORRISAssistant Director
JULIANNECLINCH
DirectorJulianne began dancing more than 30 years ago and has performed in
over 50 productions in a wide range of styles from children’s theatre to
Burlesque and almost everything in between. She completed a Bachelor of
Music Theatre at Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2003. Since then Julianne has performed in many shows both in Australia and overseas. She has been teaching music, dance, and drama to children and adults for
the past 12 years and currently works as a primary school arts specialist teacher.
Julianne was lucky enough to meet her husband while performing in Sven
Swenson’s The Truth About Kooka-burras (Pentimento Productions/La
Boite) in 2012. Julianne has been dance captain on a number of productions
including The Little Mermaid and The Witches of Eastwick for Phoenix Ensem-ble. Her choreographic credits include
Scissors, Paper, Rock : The Musical (Underground Productions), as well as
numerous cabaret shows and children’s theatre productions.
Though Julianne has directed many student productions, she is excited
for Cinderella to be her first full scale musical in this role. A long-time fairytale
fanatic, Julianne can’t wait to explore the enchantment and wonder of this
classic tale.

CinderellaRange: Soprano
A kind young woman. She is mild mannered at first glance, but burns with a fiery passion for more in her life. Although,
Cinderella comes from sad beginnings, she continues to make the best of every situation. Her caring, good-natured
personality and strong opinions are what catches the Prince’s attention.
Fairy GodmotherRange: Mezzo-Soprano
An unexpected ally for Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother is a mysterious, wise and caring mentor who delivers her advice
with wit and sass. She helps Cinderella realise her true potential. The panel is accepting auditions from any gender for this role.
StepmotherRange: Alto / Mezzo
Cinderella’s stepmother. A stern, narcissistic upper class lady. She is proud of her children and resents being burdened
with Cinderella. There is always vile intent behind her words.
Prince ChristopherRange: Tenor
A bright young man. He is searching for his independence within his royal role. He is expected to marry for the good
of the kingdom but wants it to be for true love. He hopes to understand the needs of his people.
LionelRange: Bari-tenor
The prince’s Royal Steward; and his one true ally and friend.
Grace & JoyRange: Alto / Mezzo
Cinderella’s two stepsisters. We seldom see true, genuine
smiles across their faces, preferring to take more pleasure in
the continual putting-down of Cinderella. Feel entitled to
marry the Prince and certainly do not deserve it.
Queen ConstantinaRange: Alto / Mezzo
She wears the pants in her marriage and (silently) runs the
kingdom. She is a vibrant, caring mother to her only child,
Prince Christopher. She thinks her husband is daft, but loves
him completely anyway. A very genuine person.
King MaximillianRange: Baritone
A boisterous, head-slightly-filled-with-saw-dust, naive
and comical king. Blissfully unaware of his wife and son’s
emotions, he means well and his heart is in the right place.
EnsembleVarious Ensemble Roles, many with solos.
Roles include: Merchants, Villagers, Ball, Wedding Guests,
Mice, Cats and Doves.
