Casa de EvilThe Casa de Evil is a health spa for comic style bad guys. This clip is a spoof for a television commercial. The decaying film stock, self consciously low budget costumes, and faux Spanish phrases like ‘super villanos’ provide the comedic flavour.
The advertisement promises that super villains can get into shape while on vacation and use the ‘mucho equipmente’ at the site.
Animalia: Media TricksTyrannicus is making a public announcement about his miraculous bottled mineral water. He is trying to convince the Animalians that his water is the very best on the market and they should buy it.

Animalia: Signing the PetitionAllegra and Alex oppose the campaign to drain the swamp. They decide to battle Tyrannicus and Zoe on their own terms by drafting their own petition and gathering the support of the swamp inhabitants.

Worst Best Friends: Needy PeopleIt’s ‘Help a Needy Person’ Week at Millicent’s school and she has decided to help a local woman, Esme Lander. The other girls aren’t sure why Esme needs charity but they go to her house and offer their services anyway.
Winners: There’ll Be No Santa Claus This ChristmasThe clip shows Joe listening to a ‘soap box speaker’ about the reasons why Australia should not enter the war. But it seems few are listening except Joe. When Joe is at home, his father doesn’t agree with the speaker’s logic and rebuts the reasons.

Text Types: InformativeCalendars, instruction manuals, newspaper articles, and dictionaries all have something in common – they are all informative texts. Informative texts are used to provide facts and information, and this purpose is illustrated through the example of a research project on honey bees. Students will learn about the distinctive features of informative texts through creative animations and amusing examples.
2016 | 4 min | CC | ARJnr Primary - Mid Primary
Text Types: Imaginative With popular examples such as Cinderella, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland used to illustrate the concept, young students will discover the purpose of imaginative texts and the features that distinguish them from other text types. Students will discover how language contributes to the readers experience and learn some techniques they can use to produce more engaging stories.

Biological Sciences: AdaptationsThese experiments and investigations provide opportunities for students to investigate the special features of plants which enable water to travel from the roots to the leaves. Students work both independently and collaboratively to explore the behaviour of water, test different weather conditions that affect how fast water travels up the stem and examine features that influence the loss of water from plants.

Backyard Science 2This popular television series introduces dedicated Science units that combine clips with innovative activities, allowing students to develop insight and learn how to work scientifically using household materials in fun and creative experiments.

Chemical Sciences: Material MadnessThese experiments and investigations provide opportunities for students to examine, explore and evaluate the properties of different materials and their uses. Students will identify the material/s that make up an object and investigate properties of paper and plastic, and relate the properties to how the materials are used. They will predict how wetting paper affects its strength and conduct tests to investigate their hypotheses.
Biological Sciences: Life CyclesThese experiments and investigations provide opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of life cycles. Students investigate and record the stages of mushroom growth, conduct their own experiment by placing the same type of seed (broad bean) in four different orientations to see if the leaves still grow up and roots grow down, and discover how decomposition occurs, learning how component nutrients allow them to be reused to continue the life cycle.

Chemical Sciences: Reversible and Irreversible ChangesThese experiments and investigations provide opportunities for students to analyse and compare the changes substances undergo, and classify them as reversible or irreversible. Students will revise the states of matter and the terms used to describe these changes. They will be introduced to the processes of dissolving and crystallising, make their own super bouncing ball and compare properties to those explored throughout the unit.

Physical Sciences: Circulating ChargesThese experiments and investigations provide opportunities for students to investigate the movement of electricity through electrical circuits. Students explore different ways to form a closed circuit to light a bulb, and classify materials as conductors or non-conductors (insulators) of electricity. Students research the acidity of fruit and vegetables and design an investigation involving one of these to light an LED.
Chemical Sciences: States of MatterThese experiments and investigations provide opportunities for students to observe the behaviour of solids, liquids and gases and compare their properties. Students will be introduced to the terms which describe different changes of state. They will design and conduct an investigation to determine how temperature affects the rate of evaporation, examine a substance that can be both a liquid and a solid, and will learn about colloids, which are mixtures of two different states of matter.
