As President, I am delighted once again to welcome

visitors and locals alike to the Epworth and District

Agricultural Show. 2010 provides the 64th show and,

far from it about to be pensioned off, our annual event

seems to go from strength to strength.

My hope is for similar weather to last year which

brought one of the largest turnouts for many years to

witness a well prepared showground and experience a

day of superbly organised events.

For the past couple of years, my contribution to this page has

been a narrative of gloom and doom on events at national and

international level; and so it continues. For a single August day, let’s put behind us raised taxes,

reduced public services, travel uncertainty and Icelandic volcanoes, BP and it’s environmental

disaster and even blank out the football World Cup.

For a day, I urge you today to celebrate our heritage, to support the traditional features of the show

and demonstrate to our children and grand-children that food is grown, husbanded and nurtured

before being inserted into packaging. Let’s get behind our country traditions and enjoy the farming

values that make our show so very special.

As always, my appreciation is extended to our sponsors, advertisers, partner organisations who have

again contributed generously to the 2010 Show. I’m sure that their commitment to the show is

recognised by the local community and all who attend.

My very special thanks are reserved for the organising committee and all those associated with the

meticulous planning and preparation of our show and for the many freely given time and dedication

to make it happen.

It is my pleasure to welcome you here today. My Committee have

worked hard to try and better last years record show.

We have a selection of usual attractions Show Jumping, Other horse

classes and for a second year a Polo demonstration, a dog (mutt) show

for your pet. What is becoming a popular area is the horticultural tent

where entries increase year on year.

There is also a selection of great entertainment for the children.

The Beer tent has an array of acts all through the day and a good selection of Beers

The Bonny Baby competition is also held in this tent is proving to be very popular increased entries

every year.

There are two major items of interest this year. Jez Avery who is a Stunt Motorcyclist he has been

booked for three years now. The return of Titan the Robot who unfortunately blew a fuse last year

but has come back to us in order to recharge his batteries.

We have the usual animal classes with extra entries in the goat tent. Also Trade stands for all of you

that enjoy a bit of Retail Therapy and Fast Food outlets to suit all tastes.

Jez Avery is born from the original era of two-wheeled stunt riding.

World class PRO BMX, Trials & Mountain bike rider turned/ Stunt-Show performer, Jez is extremely experienced and a well rounded stuntman.

With numerous Guinness World Records under his belt through-out his inspiring

career and endless TV &

Magazine appearances, Jez Avery will amaze any audience

As well as mastering a multitude of leaps, jumps and tricks on anything with two

wheels, Jez also has a long

and illustrious Mountain-biking career

spanning more than a decade - a very long time in the fast moving world of

today’s Mountain-biking fraternity. Before the Mountain-bike, Jez honed his skills in BMX throughout the early eighties when BMX gained great recognition in the UK, entering local

competitions from the age of 11. Jez has worked alongside the world's leading

bike manufacturers, including Muddy Fox, Saracen and GT, for 2008 Jez has joined force with the Spanish manufactured BH Bikes, a HUGE name in Mountain biking

(see our SPONSORS page for more info!). Jez is also an experienced mechanic when it comes to anything with wheels, even converting his Mercedes van into a motor home for life on the road.
