Pew Packers will be taking a little break for the next several weeks. We will resume this time of singing, learning, and laughing on Sunday, October 13th following our evening worship service.

On Sunday, August 25th, following our evening worship service everyone who is celebrating a wedding anniversary (and their kids 18 and under) along with anyone who is single (never married, divorced, widow or widower and their kids 18 and under) who is celebrating a birthday this month are invited over to Blake, Rebekah, and David’s house for dinner. This dinner is for both July and August.

The evening is more about fellowship than food and if you can come, they would be honored by your presence. But if you can’t make it, they completely understand. Directions to the Jones’ are on the bookcase outside of the church office.

With the first of the month here, the land pledges are now due. You can put your check in the black box mounted on the wall between Norman and Dave’s office. Payments can be made weekly, monthly or in lump sums. The Elders ask that these be kept separate from your general contributions. Anyone that would like to donate toward the land can always drop a donation in the box as well. Thank you for your continued support of Rainbow’s Tomorrow!

The McCarver Visitation Group will meet on Sunday, August 18th after evening service at the home of Milton and Charlotte McArthur. These meetings are always so encouraging to be a part of! If you haven’t been coming, we encourage you to come on the 18th. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Friday, September 20th, Rainbow will be hosting its annu-al Gospel Singing! This is al-ways such an uplifting event as people come from all around to blend their voices together in song as we worship our God by singing praises to Him. The singing will begin at 7:00 p.m. and once again this year we are excited to

announce that Elbert Lewis of the Alder Springs church of Christ

will be our emcee for the evening. There will be refreshments fol-lowing the evening of singing which always allows for a great time of fellowship with one another. There will be a sign up list for the needed refreshments going up in the next week or so. If you have any questions about the evening see Mike Simmons. Mark your calendar, invite your friends, and let’s be praying for and planning on a wonderful evening of song!

The second quarter

financial report is

now available on

the bookshelf out-

side of the church

office.

You are invited to the wedding of Ashley Rae Keener and Devin Taylor Jones on Saturday, August 31st, at 4:00 p.m. at the Hay Barn. There will be a reception following the ceremony. For more information regarding directions, registries and the online R.S.V.P option, please visit their wedding website at: www.weddingwire.com/devinandashley

Our iDisciplettes next devotional will be on Saturday, August 31st at 6:30

p.m. at the home of Nikki Duncan. If you have any questions see Kelli East.

Elbert Lewis

Responses

Each month our Elders take a turn sharing the responsibility of “Elder of the Month”. During that month,

that Elder is the contact person for our flock for any needs that they might have. During the month of

August, Norman Flynn is the “Elder of the Month” you can reach him at (256) 413-1688 (James 5:14)

JUST A REMINDER: This month

(August), Mark Westcott is responsible for locking our building up following our worship services. Mike Bowdoin and Glenn Amber-son are responsible for taking care of the

lawn this upcoming week. We are so appreciative to you all for helping us keep our building secure and our grounds looking good. If you would be available to help with either of these needs in the future just see Charles Clifton.

You can stream our services online every Sunday for both morning and evening services! This is such a wonderful tool we have for those who aren’t able to make it to worship with us! Technology is a wonderful thing and can be used as a powerful tool to reach out into the world!

This past Sunday, August 11th, two very precious souls responded to the Lord’s invitation making power-

ful confessions, while requesting our prayers. On Sunday morning, Suzi Morgan, came forward stating

that she knows that she can be doing more for the Lord. On Sunday night, Lisa Cook came forward want-

ed to rededicate her life to the Lord. We are so blessed to have these two sisters in Christ and their families

here at Rainbow. Their desire to be who God wants them to be sets a wonderful example for all of us.

May we do all that we can to encourage them, as we continue to remember them in our prayers.

Our fantastic World Bible School teachers continue to do a wonderful job sharing the Gospel of Christ!

This past week we received a letter from one of Barbara Brown’s students in Raleigh, NC who had

come to realize that her baptism was incorrect. She now understands that her baptism, as a baby by

sprinkling was not what the Bible teaches. So she was immersed into Christ! She went on to write how

very happy she is and we share in her joy. Milton McArthur also had a student this past week express-

ing her desire to be baptized into Christ! We are so thankful for all of our WBS teachers as they contin-

ue to do a wonderful job fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). If you would like to join

the ranks of these tremendous evangelists and great work they are doing, see Milton McArthur and he can get you started right away!

It was great this past Sunday to see so many able to be with us who have been on our prayer list (Wanda Logan, Janice Dean,

Tina Quarles, Barbara Brown, Toni Sims) and let’s continue to remember them and all on our prayer list on the back of the

Beacon. Let’s also remember Sandra Lasseter, she had hand surgery recently and will be in a cast for the next five weeks and it has been causing her some pain. Lisa Cook was to have found out the results of her biopsy this past week. (As this was being

written, we do not yet know what those results are). The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much (James 5:16)

We were so excited to announce this past Sunday

morning our Greater Things Campaign set for June

22nd-29th, 2014. This campaign is going to be a great

evangelistic effort to reach out to the people of Etowah

County. The theme of our campaign comes from a

song, God of This City, where the message is that greater things are still to come, as a result

of the power of our God! You can see a very moving video that Dave Lasseter put

together for us using this song and familiar pictures from around Etowah County. (You can

watch the video on Facebook and feel free to share it on your page) There will be

something for everyone to be actively involved in throughout the campaign. It was

announced Sunday that our Vacation Bible School would be that week, along with a door

knocking campaign, and a Revival at night! What wonderful opportunities for us all to

truly be the light of the world. As different aspects of the campaign are finalized we will share them with you as well as make you aware

of the various needs that we will have leading up to and during the campaign week itself.

We ask that you make your plans now to be a part of this campaign...Rainbow, we ask that you begin praying diligently, every day, for

the success of this campaign. Our heart’s desire is that God will be glorified in all that we do and that lost souls will obediently surrender

to Him. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the

peck measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that

they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 6:14-16)
