I hope you were blessed by the summer sermon series, Old Heroes
For A New Day.
Starting August 5th, the new series will be:
3:16-
The Numbers of Hope
(Max Lucado)
For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John
3:16
Timeless and powerful, these words proclaim a message of love, a source
of hope and a promise of life. One sentence, softly spoken nearly two
thousand years ago, is just as relevant today as when it was first uttered.
Sermon #1: The Most Famous Conversation In The BibleSermon #2: No One Like HimSermon #3: Hope For The Hard Heart
Sermon #4: When You Get Booted Out

Changing Heartsby Lori Odle My heart was changed
as I prepared and trustedGod's timing for my trip toTanzania with the STEMM
team. God continues to showme how much He loves Hispeople across the world andespecially 'little children.' Weare all made in the image ofGod, whether in a house inthe states or a mud and stickhut in Africa. I have beenmoved by the compassionand hospitality in Tanzania.God whispered to me while
serving plates of rice to thechi ldren of CompassionInternational. As I slid a plateacross the table, I heard himsay, "Feed my Sheep." As Ivisited orphanages and sawthe children who need to befed, my heart wept for thosewho get one meal a day anddon't go to school as there isno one to support them or to
buy them a school uniform. Aswe visited the hospice patientsand the widows who cannotwork and have no family tosupport them, I realized whenthey say they have no money
and no food, they literally meanthey do not eat that particularday. All of these experienceschallenge me to evaluate allthat I have and find ways to liveon less to free up funds tosupport those in need, bothhere and away. There were somany moments for me that Iknew were the work of God'smighty hand to make this trip
very personal for me. I cannotwait to see what God has instore for me helping in Tanzaniaor wherever He may lead menext. What a friend we have inJesus. Bwana Asifiwe! Amen! For more details of mytrip, please go to Lori's blog:http://odlemountain.blogspot.com.

Chapel History:
Ladies Cemetery Aid
ne of the organizationsin our church is the
LCA. Those lettersstand for Ladies Cemetery
Aid which was organized in1908 according to theminutes "for the purpose ofimproving and beautifying thegrounds of the cemetery."The original cemetery landwas donated along with thechurch land in 1873 by JohnYetley. The LCA purchased
two more acres in 1967 andan additional parcel in 1982.The Avenue of Flags to honordeceased veterans was firstflown in 1976, and theVeterans' Memorial Stonewas erected in 1986. Part of the minutesfrom June 11, 1908 stated,"It was decided to hold anice cream social June 17 atPete Cober's (next placenorth of Jim Svendsen's,west side), and also to buysupplies and the money to betaken from the treasury." The
August 13, 1908 minutes
reported that $39.91 was left inthe treasury from the social.Currently, research through allthe minutes is being done tosee if a social was held every
year. In 1943,because of thescarcity of sugar, membersdonated funds in lieu of anactual social. The last socialsponsored by LCA was in1990; since then LCA hasparticipated in the all-churchsocial. The LCA hires thecaretaker for the cemetery, arranges for the flags and
signs, flies the flags atappropriate times, arranges fort h e e n g r a v i n g s o nthe Veterans' Stone and otherprojects as needed. Recentlythe center drive was widened. The Avenue of Flags for theMemorial Day weekend is incharge of the Trustees assistedby the LCA. Thank you toevery one who helps in any
way to keep the cemeterybeautiful.
