Therefore Go…

August 2014

Hi there

Jaime, Kai and I have now been in Andahuaylillas for just over 6

weeks. In many ways it feels like a lot longer and our life in Lima feels

like a lifetime ago. Thankfully we are now feeling much more settled,

our bodies have adapted to the altitude and dryness and our house

really does feel like our home.

We were also exceptionally blessed to have my mom and dad here

with us for the last month. My parents have the most amazing servant hearts and they didn't stop

serving our family for one moment. It was such a treat being looked after, cooked for and having

all our washing done for us. I really pray that I can follow their example one day.

It was also wonderful for them to have the time to get to know Kai better. He felt comfortable with

them almost straight away and they had many very special moments together. God’s timing was

also perfect as Jaime had a kidney stone while they were here and we had to rush him to hospital

in Cusco. Had my parents not been here I don’t know how we would have managed with Kai. But

God knew and He provided and I am super thankful they were here at that time.

This week life is settling back down to normal again. This afternoon Kai and I went to play at the

Ludoteca. I am trusting that a space will open for me to serve and be a blessing with the children

there.

Thank you so much for your prayers for our family. We are really trusting that our lives can be a

blessing to the people here. We so appreciate you standing with us in faith!

Much love, Kim

Thank you so much for praying for our blueberry farming initiative in Yanaoca! We have had some

awesome news this month.

Two weeks ago Jaime was invited to attend the local community meeting in Marcaconga where

the local community president was going to present the project to the rest of the community to

see whether they would agree to allow us to use their land. Jaime had been told that the usual

attendance of these meetings is between 30 and 50 people. Much to his surprise there were more

than 200 people waiting to hear the proposal! After hearing a brief presentation about how our

blueberry farming project could bring long-term benefit to the community, the community was

given the opportunity to ask questions and then put it to a vote. The incredible thing is that the

entire community was in favour of the project! There was no opposition to it at all. This means that

as soon as we sign the contract with the community we are able to start building our greenhouse

and transfer some of our plants to the area.

On Thursday Jaime will be travelling to Marcaconga to meet with the president and sign the

contract. The photo bottom right is of Ronal, Eloy (the local president) and Jaime. Please trust with

us that all goes well on Thursday.

Apart from that we have also been given permission by our landlord to plant 10 blueberry plants in

the maize field that is within the property that we are renting here in Andahuaylillas. The climate

here is a lot more moderate than in Marcaconga, so there is a lot of potential for the blueberries to

grow here too. It is an experiment we trust will ultimately bring blessing to this community too.

On Thursday Jaime is travelling to Marcaconga to

sign the contract with the community. Please pray

that all goes well, that he will travel safely and that

the community president will sign without any problems.

As soon as the contract is signed we will be starting with the construction of our greenhouse.

Please trust with us that we will be able to get the materials at a fair price and that the building

will go well.

Jaime and I have managed to find a lovely church in Cusco. It has a very strong focus on the

family and seems to be healthy and growing. Now we are trusting God to help us make some

solid friendships here. Please trust with us that God will bring the right people alongside us to be

our new friends here in Cusco.

I also want to take the opportunity to thank God for Kai. He is an endless source of joy to us as a

family and has adapted so well to his new surroundings. He also absolutely loves people and opens

doors into people’s hearts. Thank you for the prayers you have prayed for him. He is such a

tremendous blessing to us.

Thank you also for standing with us in faith in this

new adventure. It might feel like a bit of a slow start

at times, but we are trusting that the foundational

work that we are doing now will enable us to be a

far bigger blessing later. Without your faithfulness,

prayers and support none of this would be

possible. Thank you!

Please keep us in your prayers….
