Beginning of School Year Prayer
Another school year has dawned and with it comes unexpected
invitations for graces and blessings. We pray that Jesus in our midst
will keep our hearts and minds open to new understandings and
fresh ways of living out the Gospel message of justice and peace.
At the beginning of this new school year we are filled with the
breath of God that is our life and inspiration. Acknowledging that
we are nothing without the presence of Jesus among us, we pray this
day for an increase of God’s inspiring love in our lives. We ask that
we may be open to the movements of the Holy Spirit.
Amen

A Note From the Director
As some of you are probably aware, the Department of Living Justice is undergoing several staffing changes. Peg VandeHey, former
diocesan Family and Married Life Coordinator retired on July 15th after almost five years of service in the diocesan offices. Then, on
August 1st, we welcomed Elisa Tremblay, full time Marriage Ministries Coordinator, and Dianne Vadney, part time Family Life Ministries
Coordinator to the Department of Living Justice. Both Elisa and Dianne are featured in this month’s edition of Micah 6:8, so please read
more about them here, and feel free to reach out and welcome them!
Additionally, it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that I will be leaving my position as the Diocesan Director of Living Justice.
After much prayerful discernment, my husband, son and I have decided to relocate to northeastern Ohio in order to be closer to our
extended family. My last day of employment with the diocese will be on August 16, 2016, at which time Ted Phernetton, Executive
Director of Catholic Charities, will serve as interim administrator of the department until a new person can be hired.
It has been a great blessing to minister in our diocese, and I am extremely grateful to have worked alongside such a dedicated team within
the Department of Living Justice.
To Celia, Eric, and Theresa: thank you for sharing all of the laughter, the joys, and the struggles. I have loved getting to know each and
every one of you, and I will miss you all!
To Elisa and Dianne: you are both joining a wonderful, talented, dedicated and prayerful team. You will be great additions to an already
great department!
Finally, please pray for the diocese, the department and my family during this transition. The staff is working to ensure a smooth
transition, and we thank you for your patience during this process.
May God continue to bless you, your families and your ministries!

Elisa Tremblay
Marriage Ministries Coordinator
920-272-8315
I am very excited to continue the good work done by
Peg VandeHey during her tenure here as the Family and Married
Life Coordinator and to also be working with Dianne Vadney in
her new role as Family Life Ministries Coordinator.
I’ve come to the Diocese after having previously worked at
St. Pius X Parish in Appleton and being involved in parish
ministry and education for over 20 years both here in Wisconsin
and in Washington, D.C. I have been passionate about working
with couples and families since getting my MA in Theology from
Franciscan University where I also specialized in marriage and
family ministry.
My husband, Joseph Tremblay, who also works at the Diocese in
the Department of New Evangelization, and I have been married
for over 20 years. We have six children ranging in age from 21
months to 19 years.
This is a fantastic time to be involved in marriage as we continue
to live out the call to be a disciple and to form disciples through
the Sacrament of Marriage.
Elisa
Dianne Vadney
Family Life Ministries Coordinator
920-272-8345
Dianne will serve in her part time role as Family Life Ministries
while continuing to also work part time as Family Ministry
Coordinator at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc. “It will
be a nice way of getting to work at both the levels and
implementing a lot of what we talk about at the diocesan level.”
“Part of my job is going to be cultivating a culture of natural
family planning. “ Dianne is trained in the Creighton Method
System of Fertility Care for Natural Family Planning.
Dianne believes family ministry has two parts: One to teach the
ideal vision that God has for families and the other to address all
the various needs or crisis situations that families might find
themselves in.
Dianne attended Creighton University in Omaha for one year and
then transferred to Catholic University of American where she
earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, pre-med. She earned her
Master’s degree in theological studies of marriage and family
from the John Paul II Institute in Washington, D.C.
Dianne is a native of Manitowoc where she lives with her
husband, Greg, and their 4 children.
WELCOME!
Elisa Tremblay, Marriage Ministries Coordinator
Dianne Vadney, Family Life Ministries Coordinator
Elisa and Dianne both started their ministries in the Living Justice Department on August 1st. The previous Family
and Married Life Office has been redesigned to now be Marriage Ministries and Family Life Ministries.
Read more about Elisa and Dianne in the August 12th edition of The Compass.
