Dear Parishioners et al,
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the
SWALLOW a nest for herself, where she may have her
young - a place near your altar LORD. Psalm 84:3a.
We don’t know how many swallows maketh the summer
this year, but it sure felt like God was in His Heaven for a
decent spell wiping away the memories and feelings of
some miserable summers of late.
Just the sort of energy infusion that leads one to look
forward to the Parish & School Fete on the 8th
September.
Big Boots to fill as some of the head honchos retire from
Fete leadership. But be assured that the ‘New’ fete
committee under the baton of David Simmons has turbo
energy and is perfectly seasoned by the innate wisdom of
those who have served on the fete committee over the
years and who thankfully continue to serve thus. This year
will be the ole Rector’s twenty-eighth year gate crashing
the committee meetings and cheerily smiling on the day!
Maybe.
Adding up the income from all of those years is jaw
dropping.
Putting one’s shoulder to the wheel at the fete and during
the week before is to guarantee meeting some special
people and form rewarding friendships. The community
spirit is infectious around the fete.
Oh may we get our deposit back on the beautiful weather
on the 8th September. Pretty please.

NEWSLETTER

When my faith is under strain and unravels a tad, I
look to nature and its designs to haul me back to
reality and the comfort of having a faith. Visiting and
working in some rather undeveloped areas of the
world, I observed peoples going to bed when daylight
faded and getting up when dawn broke. Of course
nearer the Equator there is much less of a variation
between night and day as in our latitudes. But such
natural sleep seems to sustain a healthy balance on
life even amidst relative poverty.
Shakespeare who tortured some of us during school
days, now seems so wise!
O sleep! O gentle sleep! Nature's soft nurse, how
have I frighted thee, That thou no more wilt weigh
my eyelids down And steep my senses in forgetful-
ness? ……………………………..
Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleeve of care, The
death of each day's life, sore labour's bath,
Balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course,
Chief nourisher in life's feast...
To God given homemade sleep, and our hearts go
out to those for whom rest evades them.
Fred

RATHMICHAEL PARISH & SCHOOL FETE
SATURDAY 8th SEPTEMBER 2018
12 noon - 4.00 p.m.
Dear Parishioners, It is getting closer to Fete 2018 and hopefully the fantastic weather will continue!
Remember the date the 8th
September. Here’s what we need to make our Fete successful: -
Donations of goods of all types – new and used but only in good condition please as it costs the Parish money to dispose of broken items
Offers of help before, during and after the Fete
Raffle prizes & bottles
Sponsorship of some of our ever-growing costs
Offers of locations where we can display some signs to publicise the Fete
Some dry, calm sunny weather. We are especially appealing to new members of the Parish to get involved and to join in this team effort. I have often said that the Fete is hard work but it is also a most enjoyable, social event that you will find very satisfying and rewarding. I can truly say that from personal experience. So please, please get involved, - don’t be shy – please give any Fete Committee member or stall
manager a call with offers of help.

rd September and Thursday 6

On Friday 7
th September the Committee will be “setting up” Fete 2018 from 9.00 a.m. until
dark and we would greatly welcome your assistance at any time during this busy day. Also on Saturday after the Fete closes at 4.00 pm. we would really appreciate help with the clearing up part of our venture and again on Sunday morning immediately after the 11.00 service. So please help us if you can during these times. It really is a case of many hands etc…..!
We are looking forward to providing an enjoyable and successful Fete with bargains, fun and entertain-ment for all and we hope to see you there on September 8th. Finally, in advance of the Fete itself I would like to thank you for your support which I know will be forthcoming once more in 2018. David Simmons
