CIRRUS OWNERS & PILOTS ASSOCIATION (COPA)

MIGRATION 16 October 11-14, 2018

Over 200 Cirrus aircraft are expected to arrive at Henderson Executive Airport for the 16th Annual COPA Migration event, that will take place October 11-14, 2018. A static aircraft display that is scheduled to include aircraft from Honda Jet, Cirrus Vision Jet, Pilatus, TBM, and Cessna to name a few. The COPA annual meeting, trade show, educational seminars, and social events will be held at the Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino. GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY October 13, 2018

Girls in Aviation Day is an initiative for girls (ages 8-17) promoted by Women in Aviation International (WAI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests. We are pleased that Henderson Executive Airport was selected as the site for this years October 13, 2018 Nevada event, hosted by WAI through its global chapter network and participating members, sponsors, and partners around the world. WELCOME HND MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Mr. David Hardy to the position of Maintenance Supervisor at Henderson Executive Airport. David brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from the private sector and the Clark County Department of Aviation. He has held several different skilled trade worker and facility maintenance positions. He most recently held the position of Facility Maintenance Technician at HND. Please join us in congratulating David on his promotion!

NEW WASH RACK

FAA SAFETY BRIEFING

The July/August 2018 issue of FAA Safety Briefing focuses on safety enhancement topics like ”Fly the Aircraft First” and “Maneuvering Flight” and addresses the serious and potentially deadly causes of GA safety mishaps. Feature articles in this issue focus on safety topics like loss of control, weather, runway safety, and fuel management. HND STAKEHOLDER BRIEFING

The June, 2018 Stakeholders Meeting agenda topics included current and future upcoming events and projects, activity statistics and a roundtable discussion. HND shade hangar and waitlist policies were discussed. Following up, we would like to invite our Stakeholders to an “Online Waitlist” workshop on September 20, 2018, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Ideas surrounding an electronic version of the waitlist will be discussed with an objective of building an online sign-up procedure that is user friendly, informative, and transparent. Final reminder! HND vehicle decals and access cards should have been reissued or revalidated, respectively, prior to March, 2018. For those tenants that have yet to do so, please visit the HND Administration Offices immediately to avoid being denied vehicular access to the airfield. New decals and cards carry an expiration date of June 30, 2022.

A friendly reminder to all pilots: It is important to clearly state your intentions to Air Traffic Control (ATC). Example: If you are departing the Las Vegas area with final destinations of southern California or Phoenix, simply stating "south" does not provide adequate information for ATC to accurately and safely provide guidance. A stated destination is much more beneficial in helping us determine your position in the traffic flow.

The HND “Fly Safely and Quietly” guidance brochure is intended to be used

as guidance for pilots operating when the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) is closed. These procedures NEVER supersede instructions you receive from the ATCT.
