Month of June marked as a great accomplishment for Sivantos, as we celebrated our 21st anniversary in India. With every passing year, we promise to rise and deliver more to our valued customers.

Our exclusive New Zealand bonanza influenced many customers to opt for our products and is continuing to generate maximum sales proficiently.

It was a proud moment for us to inaugurate the 200th BestSound Centre in Pune on 17th July 2019 and achieve a new landmark altogether. Mr. Paul Guthrie, VP Regional Sales APAC & MD ANZ, WS Audiology, was present to witness the grand occasion. BestSound Center initiative which started way back in 2012 has gained momentum with your support. We are looking forward to increase awareness of hearing loss and penetrating the Tier-III & IV cities in India through BestSound Centers soon.

We also organized a Meet and Greet evening at Bangalore on 16th July 2019. The event was filled with engaging conversations and experience sharing among customers, associates and Mr. Paul Guthrie.

As the future demands, Sivantos is planning to implement a pilot project with SHOEBOX, in order to create awareness and leads through screening. SHOEBOX Audiometry is reportedly the world’s first automated iPad audiometer that performs diagnostic hearing testing using a modified Hughson-Westlake protocol. Life with CROS in Single Sided Deafness (SSD) cases. I started dispensing CROS hearing aids since last year. It's very interesting that within a year CROS became my favorite prescription.

Until my first prescription of CROS to 72 year old senior citizen, I was quite skeptical about its practical implication as I had never prescribed it to any one because I heard mixed reviews from my fellow colleagues. This 72 year old patient came with a very positive feedback after a one week trial.

I remember one emotional event while giving a CROS trial to 13year old girl who had SSD. During the trial, her mother whispered a question to her on the profound hearing loss side and the young girl answered her immediately. Her mother jumped out of her chair and ran into tears.

This young girl's main complaint was that she had difficulty in classroom situations. In her feedback she mentioned that she can now listen to her teacher with confidence. A 69 year old retired IT professional gave up on his consultations to IT companies as he had difficulties in following meetings because of his dead ear on one side and moderate hearing loss on other side. He tried hearing aids in better ear but still wasn't getting satisfying results. I prescribed him a BICROS fitting.

Patient was satisfied with the technology. All this while I was dispensing only RIC, CROS & BICROS fitting but last year Signia came up with custom made fitting option. This opened the door for wider scope of CROS hearing aid prescription. A young 29 year old IT professional had mild hearing loss in better ear and severe hearing loss on the other side but poor word recognition. He had trouble in listening from distance and he was struggling in noisy situations. When I gave trial with RIC hearing aids however, he denied it though he liked the outcome. He was conscious about aesthetic appearance of RIC hearing aids.

I prescribed him BICROS in CIC fitting. In his feedback he mentioned that he is regularly using it and all his primary issues were resolved.

It is an excellent effort from Signia to come up with latest technology like rechargeability, Signia Nx platform and customs in CROS. Now individuals with SSD will have equal opportunity to select a CROS as per his needs.

The Launch of Charge and Go Products of Sivantos have been truly beneficial to the Hearing Impaired. As true to its name the efficiency straightaway gets pronounced. Clients at Shreya Hearing Clinic are thrilled to not have the hassle of frequent battery changes in their hearing aids. Batteries have been a source of concern for our clients due to two reasons. One is the cost and other the frequent change and the additional work and bother attached to it. With charge&Go products both these concerns have been truly addressed and have impressed our users profoundly.

Its also worthwhile to appreciate that our clients have embraced the charging technology due to the ease of operations also. The indicators at the Inductive charging stations are industry standards and also crystal clear to comprehend. The Colors used and the number of bars used to Indicate the status of charge is truly simple to comprehend which is what our clients demand. The charging cycle has been consistent and lasts the usage time demand of our clients this far. The auto off Feature of both Turning off the Hearing aids while charging and also turning off the charging when its fully charged is a double bonanza.

The built in Dehumidifying drying options is also a welcome feature of the product which makes it a hassle free maintenance and avoids doubling of effort on part of our clients.

The pouch packaging also makes it elegant for our clients to carry it easily and ergonomically wherever they go. The USB charger is an all too familiar technology for all our clients and hence contributes to their successful acceptance and usage of the product.

As an Audiologist to have the benefit of the product at all NX Platforms and Price Points makes it a justifiable presentation of the product to a wide economic group. The CROS and BICROS product options are getting one or two infrequent nods. All in All we have had good number of successful Charge and Go fittings and feedback of clients at Shreya Hearing Clinic has been encouraging and we are recording a good satisfaction index.

Sivantos India inaugurated the 200th BestSound Center with Aanvii Hearing Solutions Pvt. Ltd. on 17th July 2019 in Pune, Maharashtra.

BestSound Center initiative which started way back in 2012 has gained momentum and it is a proud moment for all of us to achieve a new landmark together.

Employee Journey - 21 Years of Experience

It was an early morning call that completely changed my world on New Year Day of the Malayalam Calendar (Vishu) of 1998. Mr. S.K. Sharma, the then Managing Director called me to inform me that I had been selected for the position of Manager – Commercial in Siemens Hearing Instruments Pvt. Ltd.

My first day in office was that of awe as I had a huge image of the Giant Company Siemens. We started as a tiny organization with a handful of employees and customers, each of whom I remember with fond memories. We were greeted by Mr. Sharma in a completely bare office which had no furniture or office equipment. All the infrastructure was developed after we joined. Being a small part of a giant organization gave us many advantages. We had the best of practices and policies in the world and yet the close-knit bond of a small organization. This bond was demonstrated in the year 2002, when I met with a terrible accident, during which I received total and unconditional support from the organization as well as my colleagues to whom I shall remain indebted and grateful as long as I live.

Sivantos India today, has grown into a mighty organization having its footprints all over the country. The company today has about 100 employees and more than 1000 customers and is recognized as the market leader in the country. This has been possible only out of dedicated efforts of the employees, most of who have worked for the organization for more than a decade with some of them completing more than 20 years of service.

The year 2011 was the turning point in my career in the company. A new business initiative – BestSound Concept Shops was launched in India and I was given the responsibility of setting up and establishing this from the scratch. Though I was skeptical about my new role due to total lack of experience either in sales or marketing, my strong relationship with customers and my communication skills sailed me through the initial days in this role. Today the BestSound initiative is a force to reckon with and contributes to a major share of the company’s business. The concept is unique to India and is being appreciated by other entities worldwide. My immense thankfulness and gratitude to Mr. Bernd Wagner for having placed his trust and confidence in me.

With only a few more months for my retirement, I want to share some thoughts on happiness and success. Defocus from yourself, focus on creating happiness in others. Be committed to making life comfortable for everyone around you. Give credit wherever it is due and have a great deal of gratitude for whatever you have. You are unique and hence don’t compare yourself with anyone else.

I joined Sivantos (then Siemens Hearing Instruments) in 1997 in Sales. We were a very small team with limited resources. As an organisation we were new to this business in India and we had the task of establishing Siemens instruments in the Indian market. Over the ensuing 21 years I acquired many new skills, responsibilities and held several positions within the organization. As a result of this mobilty I have been exposed to different areas and challenging assignments. My first big leap was in 2002 when I got an opportunity to head the Sales team. Some of the Marketing responsibilities were also added to my role. This gave me the opportunity to closely interact with customers from different parts of the country, from different cultural backgrounds, build strong professional relationships and drive business. In 2014 Customer service management was added new role.

When Siemens transitioned to Sivantos there was a sea change in organizational culture. Along with came my change in role. I was offered the new role to lead the operations team in India in 2016. This was a complete shift from Sales & Marketing. I had to acquire new skills to handle this function. Operations team today is the single largest team in India and comprises Manufacturing, Repair, Distribution supported by customer service. Our operations team today is one of the most efficient teams in the country vis-à-vis competition.

The journey has been quite interesting and got several opportunities to learn a great deal from my job. I remain thankful to all my mentors and colleagues who continue to support and guide me. Sivantos today remains a market leader in India with over 50% market share.

With the new merged organization (WS Audiology) we are on a journey to take our organization to the next level in hearing healthcare and I am excited to be part of it.
