The Governor of Kentucky signed a new executive order requiring Kentucki-ans to wear face coverings under several circumstances for the next 30 days

and closing all bars for two weeks. The order will be evaluated during that time to de-termine any additional steps or extension. As far as I understand, the bar closing order will not affect our bingo or line dance events.

There are several exemptions to the order, including children who are 5 or younger and any person with a disability, or a physical or mental impairment, that prevents them from safely wearing a face covering.

For the purposes of this order, a “face covering” is a material that covers the nose and mouth and is secured to the head with ties, straps, or loop of the ears, or is wrapped around the lower face. It can be made of a variety of materials, including cotton, silk, or linen, and ideally has two of more layers. The face coverings may be factory-made, homemade, or improvised from household items such as scarfs, bandanas, and t-shirts.

The executive order further states that people in Kentucky must cover their nose and mouth with a face covering when they are in the following situations the represent a high risk if COVID-19 transmissions.

While inside of waiting in line to enter, any retail establishment such as: grocery store, pharmacy, hair/salon/barbershop, nail salon/spa, tattoo parlor, child care facility, res-taurant or bar (when not seated and consuming food or beverage); or any other indoor public space in which it is difficult to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from all individuals who are not members of that person’s household.

I hope everyone is staying safe and wearing your mask and practice social distancing. If we all do our

part, the sooner we will get through this pandemic.

The lounge at the Post is closed for the next couple of weeks, but we will still have our regular Executive

Board and General Membership meetings. Hopefully, the lounge will be reopened by the middle of August.

CONGRATULATIONS go out to the following students:

Poppy Poster Winners: Angeline Wilson; Jada Ann Hudson; Bryson Brawner and Luke Wilson.

Americanism Essay Winners: Logan Grant; Isabella Smith and Cayla Rose Brzoska. Cayla’s essay also earned a

Distinguished Selection Entry to the Southern Division.

Scholarship Recipients: CHHS: Nicholas Najar; EHS: Bradley Lackey; FKHS: Renaecia Mae Deleon Guerrero;

NHHS: Cole Logsdon.

During these times of trying to get back to a normal routine, the Riders have been able to have events, get together for rides including overnighters. There two new riders that joined our chapter this month and we would like to welcome John Barnes and Angie Saunders into our ALR family. There have been quite a few rides this month going to London, Kentucky, an overnighter to Slade, KY (taking in the Nada Tunnel as well), and to Winchester, KY to visit the Lady Veterans Connect (LVC) and enjoy their Car and Bike show and to Paducah, KY to 4 Rivers Harley Davidson. During the visit to LVC, the Riders presented a check to the LVC Leadership from the first BBQ held in June.

On 22 July, the Riders Bingo started back up in a condensed form and will continue, as of now. The second BBQ and Yard Sale was held on 25 July was a success in many ways. We signed members up for the Legion, Auxiliary, Sons, and Riders. Thank you to all those that helped make this event a success!

The first in person ALR membership meeting convened on 23 July and was well attended. ALR membership meetings will be held monthly at the post as of now, as well as Legion, Auxiliary, and SAL meetings. Any changes on not holding meetings at the post will be emailed to members as well and will be posted on the ALR Facebook (FB) page. Donna Thurman was also made an Honorary Supporter of Post 113 ALR for all her support to the ALR over the years. Thank You Donna.

On 15 July we will host a Scavenger Hunt, Yard Sale and BBQ and will allow for not only bikers but cars to also participate in the hunt. It will take place within a 30 mile radius of Elizabethtown and has some unique places to find. The flyer is posted on the ALR Fb page.

Finally the ROMP replacement ride has been postponed until October, precise date to be determined, which looks to be a great ride and time with our out of state members. As soon as the plan is finalized, it will be pub-lished and put out to membership.

Stay safe and enjoy all the wind therapy you can get!

KICKSTANDS UP

Legion Family Devotion From God: To You:

I am always showing my love for you. I want you to remember, anything that annoys you, I am teaching you patience. Anyone who abandons you, I am teaching you how I will never leave or abandon you, lean on Me. Anything that angers you I am teaching you forgiveness and compassion. Anything that has power over you I am teaching you that I work all things together for the good of those who love Me. Anything you hate I am teaching you unconditional love. Anything you fear I am teaching you courage is found in Me and do not be led by fear. Anything you can’t control I am teaching you how to let go and let Me. For you see, I am your refuge and strength an ever present help in times of trouble. I’ve told you just this in Psalm 46:1. And my beloved, I can-not lie. Please pray: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you that Your ways are far greater than our ways and Your thoughts far deeper than our thoughts. Thank you that YOU make all things new. Thank you that Your face is towards the righteous. You are close to the brokenhearted. You hear our prayers, and know our hearts. Thank you for Your daily, powerful presence in our lives, that we can be assured, no matter what we are facing. Your heart is towards us. Your eyes are over us, and Your ears are open to our prayers. Thank you that You surround us with favor as with a shield, as we are safe in Your care. In Jesus name…..Amen. Please pray for those in our Legion Family who need healing and salvation. Pray that we all may know the full-ness of God’s love and the COVID-19 ends. Pray for our nation. Pray for His love to reign over evil. Please feel free to contact ALR Chaplain DeeDee for prayer needs and also to share our legion blessings. Contact her @ 270 272-6940 or send an email to: [email protected]

Continued from page 1:

What this means for our members entering the post is that each one of us must have a mask on in order to have our temperature and logged in. Once we set at a table, we can remove our mask, but we will have to put the mask back on if we get up to travel though any common area such as to the bar or restroom. This requirement will remain in place until the Governor determines that it is safe to reduce or eliminate the requirement.

As always, your Legion will be here to assist you in any way we can.
