About the First Christian Craft Fair By Charlene LincolnThis year will be our 22nd Annual Craft Fair. It is the major fund raiser for our church. Relying on the spirit and story of the gospels, First Christian Church is supported primarily by donations. There is no charge for any event. We rely on freely given offerings to support our various minis-tries and opportunities.

Your contributions and gifts allow us to continue to be a radically inclusive, justice-driven community of faith every day of the week. Thank you in advance for your gifts.

Thank You for the Venue! Pastor Matt Gordon and the mem-bers of First Christian Church, The volunteer committee organiz-ing the recent CDDC-BBQ want to say Thank you for providing the venue for the July 23, 2016 BBQ. You are such a God send in allow-ing this to happen. We fed around 125 mouths, I believe? May this check be a token of our thanks. For the volunteers and committee, your friend in Christ, Oscar Gutbrod

It happens every single year. No matter how much I resist it, it happens. No mat-ter how much I deny its existence and try and run away, it still happens. School. The beginning of another school year is dangerously close and no one in my house is ready, especially me. I have enjoyed late summer nights, sleeping in until 7, weekend trips to the coast, and the relaxed rhythm of family life. I know that soon all that will be over. Once again, I will be getting up early, making school lunches, arguing with people about getting out the door on time, helping with homework and reminding people to breathe through the stresses of school. The truth is, we have it pretty easy. Although I lament, the rhythm will work itself out by October. We have the resources to do all that we need, to buy the new clothes and replace worn out backpacks. We have a great support system that helps us transport to and from school. We have great teachers who work with us in the good and the bad. We have a roof over our heads, a washer and dryer in the garage and a shower that always works. This is why we are motivated to contribute where we can to help families in need. Not everyone can afford new school clothes, new backpacks and the long list of school supplies required for each student. This is why I hope you will join me in our Back to School Supply Drive. You can donate from the list below or give money in the offering plate and I will go by the items. Please bring your dona-tions this Sunday. Let’s fill up the front of the sanctuary with school supplies! Thank you in advance.Peace, Matt

Aleita’s Ascent of Mt. Hood Photos from Aleita Haas-Holcomb

Aleita, her son, and others on the way to the top of Mt. Hood.

You’ve come a long way, baby! (Both literally and figuratively.)

A year and a half ago Aleita was having surgery to mend her broken left tibia and fibula, and her right heel and look where she is now... on the top of Mt. Hood! Thanks to the all the help from

surgeons, physical therapists and mas-sage therapists, she is back on her feet again. Aleita could cross out climbing Mt. Hood on her list but she’d like to do it again. Way to go Aleita!

Our VisionThe First Christian Church of Corvallis is a diverse inclusive community providing a living witness to the compassionate Christ. From our central location in the heart of Corvallis, we seek out, develop, and support ministries to meet the human needs for physical and spiritual wholeness. On the basis of our Disciple heritage, we embrace the ecumenical movement, develop lay leadership, and promote intellectual freedom in the pursuit of truth. All are welcome to participate. Inclusivity is one of our most important values.
