This recommendation has also been affirmed by the Deacons, Trustees, and Finance Committee. It is now ready for church discussion and vote. We will have a Called Business Meeting on Sunday night, August 28, at 6:15 in the Fellowship Hall. The following motion will be explained, discussed, and then a written ballot vote will be taken. The votes will be counted right away and the results announced at the conclusion of the meeting. The Leadership Council recommends that the church move forward with a building program that has a total project cost of $9,356,500. This represents a $600,000 increase in the amount previously approved by the church. The church will select Woodward Construction as the general contractor and will enter into a fixed price bonded contract. The Leadership Council is committed to the long-term debt limit of $3.5 million. The $600,000 increase will be covered by voluntary additional Faith Steps contributions during the giving period and/or extending the pledge period an additional year. In the event funds are received or pledged to the building program in excess of $5.8 million ($5.2 million currently pledged plus $600,000), the scope of the building project may be increased by the Leadership Council upon the recommendation of the Building Committee. This increase in building cost is not to exceed the approved long-term debt limit of $3.5 million. What can you expect to hear at the meeting? You will hear . . . An explanation from the Leadership Council concerning why this motion is being recommended. You will hear the reasons why an increase in cost (rather than continuing to scale down the project scope) was determined to be the better option to present to the church. Some wonderful news about recent increases in pledges and gifts that already account for over $400,000 of the proposed increase in the project cost. An update from the Building Committee on their work with the architects and the new contractor. I hope that you will be able to join us for this important meeting on Sunday night. We are very close to being able to move ahead. Come hear the proposal, enter the discussion, and cast your vote. If you are not able to be present for the meeting, you may vote by absentee ballot in the church office or by contacting our Deacon Chair, Paul Allison, at [email protected] for a link to an electronic ballot.

“…Rejoice. Change your ways. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace.

Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11 NLT

The boomerang generation refers to adult children who move back into their parent’s

home after time away. This might be from an inability to find a job after college, a loss of a job, a divorce, a temporary relocation for job/military, or economic reasons. Practice good communication to eliminate any surprises.

Set boundaries, rules, and limits for expectations and responsibilities so no one feels mistreated. If small children are part of the move, be sure to understand who is

responsible for certain needs and finances. It is a challenge because of expectations, lack of privacy, and sharing control but it can work

and be successful with careful planning.
