    Farmers Market Technology Update

We hope you all are enjoying your long weekend. We cant believe we are already half way through the

    summer!

Last Saturdays annual Yellow Ribbon Day was wonderful. It was great to see a large number of vendors

decorate their booth and wear the pin to show their support for our troops. We raised almost $415.00 from last

Saturdays market, a significant increase from last year! We would like to thank all of you who gave gener-ously to support the Military Family Resource Center!

Next Saturday we will be celebrating Rockn August! This international car show and music festival takes place

in St. Albert from August 6th - 10th. Last year's event saw 723 classic car entries into the event and more than

50,000 people attending altogether, making Rock'n August one of the largest events to take place in the

    province of Alberta.

Visitors to Rock'n August not only come from our home province of Alberta, but also British Columbia and Sas-

katchewan, and even Washington, Idaho and Montana - truly making Rock'n August an international car

show. We encourage all vendors to dress the part in 1950s attire as well as decorate their booth 50s style. For

    more information, please visit, www.rocknaugust.com!

LOCALIZE: The Story of Your Food

Angela Komarnicki, a Henna Tattoo Artist in our Farmers Market, is a 4th year nutrition student

at the University of Alberta and volunteer forLocalize, a service that works closely with grocers

to help highlight local and regional products on their store shelves.

Angela will be submitting short blogs on local food from the St. Albert Farmers Market. Each

week she will choose a food, ask for basic information about the local product, and then

complete her blog post. In the middle of August, she will share her entries with the Localize

team and post all entries on their website. This is an incredible opportunity to gain exposure for

your local products. For more information, you can visit Angela in Stall #35.www.localizeyourfood.com

2013 Rockn AugustRock'n August is a summer-time tradition in St. Albert! With this event attract-

ing enthusiasts from across Western Canada and the United States, St Albert is

grateful for the enormous support that the citizens of St. Albert give to this

fundraiser for the Alberta Diabetes Foundation.

Rock'n August 2013 will celebrate its 17th year of operation as the finest festi-val of Cars and Music in Western Canada and the City of St. Albert's third

largest annual event. With the support of the St. Albert & District Chamber of

Commerce, this fun-filled event has turned into an international classic car

display showcasing over 600 extraordinary automobiles.

The primary goal of Rock'n August is to continue to be a significant contribu-

tor to diabetes research and education at the University of Alberta. This year,

Rock'n August will make every effort to raise $150,000 for diabetes research.

Shopping for the public begins only at 10:00AM

when the horn signals the open of the market.

Please do not sell anything to the general

    public before this time.

From 9:30-10:00AM vendors can do their shopping,

though they must be wearing theirpurple vendors

button in order to make a purchase during this

time. Please do not sell anything to customers not

wearing a vendor button prior to 10:00AM.

NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED. Your pet

will have to be removed from the Mar-ket area. Failure to comply will bedeemed in contravention of the

Trespass to Premise Act, and may re-

    sult in a $230.00 fine.

The Market is a NON-SMOKINGenvironment at all times.

    VENDING HOURS

St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce

Remember to stop by the Chamber booth before

market start to get this years vendor buttons and

    stall numbers.

Numbers must be displayed prominently in your

    booth at all times.

On the back of every number is an emergency

zone number. This is extremely important because

in the case of an emergency you must tell the

emergency services which zone you are located in.

They have different entries into the market depend-

    ing on the zone.

    STALL NUMBERS

    CANCELLATIONS

The market is every Saturday, rain or shine, and we

would like everyone to show up every week to make

    the market complete.

However, we understand that there are some dire

emergencies where a cancellation must be made. As

stated in the contract, there are no refunds for missed

days, and we require a notice of at least 48 hours so

that we can find someone to fill your stall and keep it

    warm in your absence.

The St. Albert Chamber of Commerce Farmers Market is

classified by Alberta Health Services as a

    Food Establishment.

    PARKING STALL LAYOUT

    STALL NUMBERS BYLAWS

For any new vendors, or those that arent

aware, there are some stalls that do not have

    parking.

We recommend that you park in the lot be-

hind the Hemingway Centre (formerly old

RCMP Station), northwest of the market or inthe St. Albert Curling Club Parking Lot. There

are a large number of stalls reserved just for us.

If you have parking with your booth, please do

not forget to bring lattice or a similar material

to place under your tires. This helps protect the

beautiful St. Albert grass, and it saves us all

money as the City of St. Albert must be reim-

    bursed for any damages.

    T h e r e i s N O V E N D O R P A R K I N G

allowed in the big city parking lot. This area is reserved for shoppers

    and will be monitored closely.

A minor but important detail is to ensure that booths

are flush with the curb. This guarantees that you take

advantage of the MAXIMUM 10-foot distance from

the curb. Please note, that everything must be inside

your tent at all times. For example, no signs can be

    outside of your tent.

Many of the vendors who have been here in previous

years may remember that the weather is unpredict-

able. We are subject to not only rain, but also wind.

We have learned that in extreme winds, tents can

    turn into kites!

Please bring some sort of weight to hold your tent

down in the event of extreme winds.

If winds do become severe enough that you feel

safety is a concern, please put as much of your prod-uct in bins as possible, keeping just what is needed to

continue selling on the tables. Dropping your tent

    may be the best option.
