For exhibitors who are not familiar with BC Ferries, please note that reservations are recommended for all routes due to the ferry delays caused by the August long weekend in BC. Reservations are limited and include a one-way non-refundable fee. You must be at the ferry terminal no less than 30 minutes prior to and no more than 60 minutes prior to the reserved sailings scheduled departure time. Reservation costs are: $10 (over 7 days prior to sailing), $17 (under 7 days prior to sailing), $21 (day of sailing).

In payment of entry fees, the tendering of NSF cheques shall be considered non-payment of entry fees and is punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards. A collection fee of $25.00 will be added to the amount of any returned cheque. Fax entries and/or credit card payment will be accepted when accompanied by authorized VISA or MASTERCARD credit card number, expiry date and cardholder’s name. 10% of total fee will be added for Fax/Credit Card entries. Customers whose charges are declined by the Bank Card Authorization Department will be assessed a service charge of $25.00 for each transaction declined. Telephone entries are not accepted by the Show Secretary. Incomplete entries or entries received without fees, or entries received after the advertised closing date will not be accepted. There will be no refund on overpayments or duplicate entries. Please mail entries early to ensure that they are received before the closing date.

CLASSIFICATION - CONFORMATION

The following classes will be provided, divided by sex.

REGULAR CLASSES

JUNIOR PUPPY - 6 months & under 9 months on the day of the show. SENIOR PUPPY - 9 months & under 12 months on the day of the show. 12-18 MONTH CLASS - for dogs 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show. CANADIAN BRED - for dogs born in Canada, Champions in any country excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR - shall be for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder OPEN CLASS - shall be for all Dogs. SPECIALS ONLY – Dogs which have a recorded CKC registration, Event Registration Number (ERN) or Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) and have attained the required points for Championship status. All awards earned at the show will be cancelled if it is found that a dog is not registered or has not completed the requirements for a CKC Championship. Dogs entered in this class will compete for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy if eligible.

NON-REGULAR CLASSES

BABY PUPPY CLASS – Dogs 3 months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of the show. The award for this class are: Best Baby Male and Best Baby Female, Best Baby Puppy in Breed, Best Baby Puppy in Group, Best Baby Puppy in Show. These classes will be judged immediately after Best of Breed of the regular classes. EXHIBITION ONLY - Dogs entered in this class may not compete in the regular breed classes.

SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASSES - Eligibility for the Sexually Altered Dog Classes shall be limited to dogs over 6 months of age which have been sexually altered by veterinary procedure. Points MAY NOT be carried from the regular competition judging to the Altered Dog Class judging. These classes will be judged after Best Baby Puppy in Breed. Two classes will be offered: Altered Male & Altered Female. Classes will be placed first through fourth in both sexes, the first-place winner from each class will be declared Winners and the second-place winner will be declared Reserve Winners. The Altered Winners Male and the Altered Winners Female will then compete for Best of Breed Altered and Best of Opposite Sex Altered in breed.

UNOFFICIAL CLASSES BEST OWNER HANDLED- Eligibility for the Best Owner Handled competition shall be limited to dogs handled by the owner at all levels of judging. Dong entered in this class must be entered in an official class as well.

CLASSIFICATION - RALLY OBEDIENCE

RALLY NOVICE A - Dogs competing in this class may not have won a CKC Rally Novice (R. N.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructed dog training classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. A dog may continue to compete in this class after the owner has been notified by at least 2 different judges that the dog has won 3 qualifying scores in this class. However, a dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class in any rally trial after the owner has received official notification from the CKC that the Dog has won the title. No dog may be entered in both Rally Novice A and Rally Novice B at any one trial.

RALLY NOVICE B - Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced Class is earned. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.

RALLY INTERMEDIATE – The Rally Intermediate class is an elective class for exhibitors and earning the title is not a requirement for a dog to enter Rally Advanced classes. This class shall be for dogs that have earned the RN title. A dog completing the RI or any other obedience or rally titles may continue to complete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.

RALLY ADVANCED A - This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (R. N.) title but have not won the Rally Advanced (R. A.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructed dog training classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. A dog may continue to compete in this class after the owner has been notified by at least 2 different judges that the dog has won 3 qualifying scores in this class. However, a dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class in any rally trial after the owner has received official notification from the CKC that the dog has won the title. RALLY EXCELLENT A - This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (R.A.) title, but have not won the Rally Excellent (R. E.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructed dog training classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. A dog may continue to compete in this class after the owner has been notified by at least 2 different judges that the dog has won 3 qualifying scores in this class. However, a dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class in any rally trial after the owner has received official notification from the CKC that the dog has won the title. No dog may be entered in both Rally Excellent A and Rally Excellent B at any one trial.

RALLY EXCELLENT B - This class will be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (R.A.) title. A dog completing the Rally Excellent (R.E.) title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. RALLY MASTER -This class will be for dogs that have earned the RE title. A dog completing the RM title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.

CLASSIFICATION - OBEDIENCE PRE-NOVICE - The Pre-Novice class shall be for any dog that has not earned the title of PCD. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. The same handler must handle each dog in all five exercises unless he has two or more dogs entered. In such cases, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the group exercise. Only dogs that have not earned the title of CD may enter pre-novice. NOVICE A - The Novice A class shall be for any dog that has not earned the title of CD. Only one dog per handler is allowed in this class, and that person must handle the dog in all exercises. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or a member of their immediate families, and must be eligible to handle under Section 10.1.4. No person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a CDX title shall be allowed to handle a dog in this class. When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score awarded will be cancelled. NOVICE B - The Novice B class shall be for any dog that has not earned the title of CD. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. The same handler must handle each dog in all six exercises unless they have two or more dogs entered. In such cases, they must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the group exercises. No dog may be entered in both the Novice A and Novice B class at any one trial.

NOVICE C - The Novice C class shall be for any dog that has earned the title CD or any higher obedience titles. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. The same handler must handle each dog in all six exercises unless he has two or more dogs entered. In such cases, he must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the group exercises. Dogs may compete in the Novice C class indefinitely. Scores earned by dogs entered in the Novice C class are not eligible for High in Trial and do not qualify a dog for any title. Dogs may be entered in the Novice C class in addition to any other official or unofficial classes for which they are eligible. NOVICE INTERMEDIATE - The Novice Intermediate class is an elective class for exhibitors and earning the title is not a requirement for a dog to enter the Open classes. The Novice Intermediate class shall be for any dog that has earned a CD or any higher obedience trial titles. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. OPEN HA & OPEN 18A - The Open A classes shall be for any dog that has earned the title of CD but has not earned the title of CDX. The handler of any dog in these classes must be the owner, co-owner or a member of their immediate families. Only one dog per handler is allowed in these classes and that person must handle the dog in all exercises. Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a UD title may not handle a dog in these classes. When a dog is wrongfully entered in these classes, any score awarded will be cancelled. OPEN HB & OPEN 18B - The Open B classes shall be for any dog that has earned the title of CD. Dogs that have earned the title of CDX or any higher obedience titles may enter either of the Open B classes. A dog may also be entered in the Utility class in the same trial. Dogs in these classes may be handled by the owner or any other person. A person may enter or handle more than one dog in these classes. The same handler must handle each dog in all seven exercises unless he has two or more dogs entered. In such case, they must have an additional handler for each extra dog when they are judged together in the group exercise(s). UTILITY A - The Utility A class shall be for any dog that has earned the title of CDX but has not earned the title of UD. Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a MOTCH title may not handle dogs in this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or a member of their immediate families. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. The same person must handle the dog in all exercises. When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score awarded will be cancelled. UTILITY B - The Utility B class shall be for any dog that has earned the title of CDX or UD. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. The same person must handle the dog in all exercises. No dog may be entered in both the Utility A and Utility B classes at any one trial. Prior to the start of judging, the judge will choose which of the six numbered routines will be performed. This choice will not be disclosed to exhibitors until it is posted at ring side at least 30 minutes before the start of the class and never more than one hour before the start of the trial. EXHIBITION ONLY - This is an official class. A dog may be entered for Exhibition Only, which is an official class that must be specified on the entry form. All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as for a dog entered for competition. No dog so entered can compete in any regular class; however, it may be entered in and compete in any unofficial class or parade offered at the trial on payment of the prescribed fees.

BREEDER SWEEPSTAKES Judge (all classes): Karen Phippen

Breeder sweepstakes is a forum for breeders to exhibit the dogs they have bred.

• Entrants must be 6 months of age or older.

• Entrants will be divided by sex only - males vs. females.

• Every entrant MUST be handled by the breeder of record. No exceptions.

• Breeders do not have to be an owner of record

• Champions are eligible to compete

• Each division will be placed 1st through 4th. A rosette for 1st and flats for 2-4

• Rosette for Best in Breeder Sweepstakes

• Altered dogs are not eligible.

• Class winners will receive 20% of total entry fees collected. Best in Sweepstakes will receive 20% of

total entry fees collected, Runner-up 15% of total fees collected. Best in Sweepstakes and Runner-up will

be chosen from the Class winners. Remainder 25% will be retained by the Club to defray costs.

Classes will be divided by Sex and Age:

3-6 months of age/ 6–9 months of age / 9–12 months of age / 12–18 months of age Rosettes will be awarded to First in each class, Best in Sweepstakes and Runner-up. Flat ribbons will be awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th in each class. Class winners will also receive 5% of total entry fee. Best in Sweepstakes will receive a 20% of total entry fees collected, Runner-up 15% of total fees collected. Best in Sweepstakes and Runner-up will be chosen from the Class winners. Remainder 25% will be retained by the Club to defray costs. To enter sweepstakes, the dog must be entered in one of the regular/non-regular classes or in Exhibition Only on Saturday, August 4, 2018.

There will be a $2.00 fee which will be collected at the show. Any dog entered in Junior Handling must be entered in one of the regular classes or for exhibition only in the show that day. The dog need not be owned by the Junior Handler or any of his immediate family.

SEWAGE OR GRAY WATER DUMPING

Due to environmental concerns, it is not permitted to dump sewage or gray water at any time on the show grounds. RVs found doing so may be requested to leave and/or may be denied exhibiting in future years. There are sanitation dumps available in the area. Check out the dumps available in Campbell River at http://www.sanidumps.com/sanidumpscdnbc.php. The closest one to Nunns Creek Park is Mohawk Station 984 South Island Hwy. Hwy.19A costs $5.00 or $2.00 with fuel fill up. For those heading down the bypass there is the Shell Service Station corner of Highway 19 and Willis Road. Cost is $2.00.

GENERAL RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS

1. The Club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The Show Superintendent shall have full control of the above shows and trials, which will be governed by CKC rules.

2. Any dog excused by the Show Superintendent or the Show Veterinarian for any reason shall not, after being excused, compete in any class for any award for the balance of the show. Any female excused because of being in season shall not be allowed to compete in any class for any award.

3. The show committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident, or other misfortune, to either dogs, exhibitors or patrons.

4. A Judge or any person participating in any capacity at a Dog Show held under CKC Rules shall not be subjected to any indignity of any kind during the progress of the show and it shall be the duty and obligation of the Club holding the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out.

5. Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct or actions of their animals while they are on the show grounds.

6. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The Club will not be responsible for and is not obligated to provide any service for notifying owners or agents of breed or class judging. No ring shall be held up waiting for exhibitors or handlers. Exhibitors & Handlers with more than one dog shall have substitute handlers available so the judging will not be delayed.

7. The owner of a dog entered in these shows is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog, regardless of how or by whom the entry was made.

8. A dog once disqualifiedor any reason at a championship show held under these rules cannot again be shown at a show held under these rules until the dog has been examined by an official committee appointed by the CKC and the committee finds the dog is free from the condition which prompted the disqualification. Application for reinstatement must be accompanied by a fee which shall be forfeited to the CKC if the examining committee is satisfied that the dog should remain disqualified. All awards earned at a dog show in violation of this rule shall be canceled by the CKC and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action.

9. Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for their dogs and for their equipment left at the Show Grounds.

10. For the benefit of the health of animals and the pleasure of the exhibitors and spectators we insist upon keeping our grounds and buildings as clean as possible. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Please exercise your dog BEFORE taking it to the Judging ring. Dogs are to be exercised in the designated areas only, not in the vicinity of the ring areas.

11. No entry fee will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, and Act of God, public emergency, act of public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club.

12. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.

CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded

To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite, Best of Breed. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further Section 15.1.12{C} has been added and states the dog must: “have earned at least one 2-point win either at the breed level or group level. “The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed below.

A class Dog awarded Best in Show at an all-breed championship show will be credited with five points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show.

15.2 Grand Champion (GCh) (47-06-12)

15.2.1 The title of Grand Champion may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Conformation Championship.

15.2.2 Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Conformation Championship and do not include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship. All required points are to be earned at the breed level.

15.2.3 To be awarded a Grand Champion title, a dog must attain a minimum of 20 points which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two points each. Points may be gained at breed, group or Best in Show/Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.

a) Grand Champion Point System

Points towards the Grand Champion title, at breed level, are awarded to the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch. Points are calculated based on the number of animals competing at the breed level for the Best of Breed winner and the number of similar-sex dogs competing for the other three (Best of Opposite, Select Dog, Select Bitch). The following schedule shall be employed in the determination of points awarded at breed level:

Best in Show (5 points) (b) In order to obtain a Grand Champion title, a dog must obtain at least two (2) points after 12 months of age. In counting the

number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for Grand Champion points.

15.3 Grand Champion Excellent (GChEx) (48-06-12)

15.3.1 The title of Grand Champion Excellent may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Grand Championship title.

15.3.2 Points for this title may be accumulated at any time after the completion of the CKC grand championship but does not include the points earned in attaining the conformation championship or the grand championship.

15.3.3 A minimum of 100 points which must include one Best in Show or a Best of Breed at a Breed National Specialty (where a minimum of ten dogs have competed) or a Best in Multiple Breed Specialty with at least three breeds represented plus three group firsts or three Breed Specialty wins.

a) Grand Champion Excellent point system

1st in Group or Best in Specialty Show 5 Points

2nd in Group or Best of Opposite Single breed Specialty Show 4 Points

3rd in Group 3 Points

4th in Group 2 Points (Note: no points are acquired if no other dog is present in the group)

Best of Breed 1 Point (To earn the breed point, at least 5 dogs must be shown at breed level)

Best in Show or Best in National Specialty Show or Best in Multi Breed Specialty Show 10 Points

15.3.4 Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward. For example, a dog that wins First in Group and then wins Best in Show, earns 10 points, not 15.

15.3.5 The title of Grand Champion Excellent shall not be awarded retroactively. However, dogs that have been awarded the Grand Champion title prior to January 1, 2013, will be awarded the Grand Champion Excellent title on application to the CKC. 15.3.6 The title of Grand Champion Excellent shall not be awarded retroactively. However, dogs that have been awarded the Grand Champion title prior to January 1, 2013 will be awarded the Grand Champion Excellent Title on application to the CKC.”

15.3.7 Additional Requirements: To attain a Grand Champion Excellent title a dog must have been awarded a CKC performance title from any CKC event. A CGN, Herding Tested Certificate or Chase Ability Programs title are not considered performance titles for the awarding of this title.
