Did you know you could set up automatic donations? The enrollment and set up process is straightforward. Just visit the parish website main page at: www.sspeterandpaul.net and select online giving. When using a plain white or temporary envelope (like the one pictured below), please remember to include your envelope number on either your check or on the envelope. This will help us give you proper credit for your donation. Thank you for your continued support.

PARISH SACRIFICIAL GIVING

We sincerely thank everyone for their generosity and support.

Please note the next parish sacrificial

giving update will appear in the August 11, 2019 bulletin.

About Contributions...

I wish to express my profound gratitude for your support of the 53rd Sunday Collection. This collection was a new initiative at Saints Peter and Paul, and our parish community responded in a most generous manner. This collection generated $53,115 in additional Sunday Offertory dollars. These funds were very much needed considering the large Offertory deficit we experienced in the 2018/19 fiscal year which concluded on June 30th. I also wish to communicate my appreciation for your gracious support of the Missionary Appeal which was offered at our parish the weekend of July 13-14. Fr. Varghese, CMI (a Seminary Classmate of Fr. Tomy), offered the homily at all of our Masses in which he spoke of the needs of the Church in India. Because of your generosity, we were able to forward a check for $15,000 in response to this Missionary Appeal. Thank you for responding to the needs of our brothers and sisters in another area of our world. As announced last weekend in our parish bulletin, I am very pleased that we are able to provide for the return of the "Light of My Life" Luminary Mass. This long-standing liturgical tradition is returning to our parish community after a three year absence. The Luminary Mass will be celebrated at 6:15PM on Sunday, October 13th at the Grotto in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. Volunteers are needed to assist in the organization of this Mass. Please contact 2019 Luminary Mass co-chairs, Ed Graham at 630-263-2354, or Linette Graham at 630-370-8201, to offer your assis-tance. Two weeks from now, on Sunday, August 18th, we will resume the weekly 9:30AM and 11AM Chapel Masses. One Mass not returning to our weekend Mass schedule is the 6:30PM Saturday Mass. The 6:30PM Saturday evening Mass has historically been our least attended Mass each weekend. With the resumption of the Chapel Masses, we offer a total of eleven Parish Masses from Saturday morning until Sunday night. In addition to those Masses, it is not uncommon for our community to have 1-2 funerals, and 1-2 weddings on a Saturday. Out of respect to this demanding liturgical schedule for our parish priests, we will not be resuming the 6:30PM Saturday Mass. With the Chapel Masses returning on August 18th, many of you will have the opportunity to use our "refreshed" restrooms on all three levels of the Parish Ministry Center. The restrooms have been painted, new sinks and countertops installed, along with new hands-free faucets, sanitizing devices, and dryers. Funding for this project was from monies set aside in prior years and on deposit at the Diocese for construction projects. In the Peace of Christ, Fr. Brad

FISHERS OF MEN

Don’t rock the boat? In today’s culture, men who call attention to problems are often called trouble makers. Jesus was put to death because he made trouble for the Pharisees. Jesus rocked their boats to save souls. How do we, as men, fix problems in our lives, save souls and lead families to heaven without getting killed for it?

Saturday August 10th

Come and hear faith stories from new and old friends about how God helped them grow in faith to find peace and joy through troubles, even though it rocked their boats.

“I look forward to it every week!” “Do not be afraid to be saints.” - St. Pope John Paul II

Have you been looking for a ministry to join?

Would you like to serve your church, but don’t have a lot of extra time on your hands? Do you wish you could get to know a few more members of the parish?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, consider becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucha-rist, Lector, or Altar Server. We need people to fill these roles at every Mass. With enough people on the schedule, your commitment would generally only be a couple of Masses each month. Training will be provided. For more information or to volunteer, contact Deacon Michael Crowell at: [email protected].

Golf is $250 per person and includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, use of driving range, drinks on the course, a two-hour cocktail hour, dinner, and various on-course contests. Hole sponsors are available for $200 for one hole or $300 for two holes. NEWS FROM THE KNIGHTS

Saint Vincent de Paul Vincentian spirituality is rooted in the words of Jesus and exemplified in the lives and ministry of St Vincent de Paul, St Louise de

Marillac, Blessed Frederic Ozanam and Blessed Rosalie Rendu. Vincentian spirituality was created in the friendship and mutuality of these holy men and women who com-bined their masculine and feminine gifts. Vincentian spirit-uality is gentle and strong, nurturing and guiding, loving and creative, compassionate and merciful. Vincentian spirit-uality is indeed rooted in charity and justice. Vincentian spirituality is validated in the lives and ministry of the countless men and women who have pursued the spirit and spirituality of Vincent and Frederic as members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Vincentian spirituality works; it help make us holy. Men and women of varying vocations and professions, social and economic status, and talent and skills have found great spiritual riches in the work they do within the Society.

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to

join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, Saint Vincent de Paul. Please call 630-718-2127 to

learn more or to request assistance.

Transitional Housing Ministry

The Transitional Housing Ministry (THM) is tremendously thankful to all who have continued to support our homeless families through your prayers and financial support. As a reminder, the parish provides the “pink” envelopes for direct giving to our ministry. All funds are used to provide tempo-rary housing and other support to our four “client” families.

For more information on the Transitional Housing Ministry, please contact Tom Dorn at 630-270-7303.

*Names that are bolded are newly added this week*

We wish to offer our sympathy and a promise of our prayers to the family and friends of

the recently departed.

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen

Pray With Us

St. Francis Chapel of Eucharistic Adoration Flame of Faith Candles

Six candles burn perpetually around the Blessed Sacrament in our St. Francis Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The burning candles serve as a constant prayer before the Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament. Envelopes for you to have your intention remembered with one of these candles and prayed for ONE WEEK (Sunday to Sunday) are available in the Adoration Chapel. The intentions will be published in the bulletin.

Flame of Faith Intentions for This Week The seven-day Devotional Candles at the altar of our Lord in the Saint Francis Adoration Chapel are being offered for: 1. For the healing of Frank P. 2. For a successful transplant surgery and full recovery from

Leukemia for Dorota M. 3. For the intentions of T. Nemo. 4. In thanksgiving for our Lord being with us in this Chapel. 5. For the protection of the unborn. 6. For the holy souls in purgatory.

Sunday 9am Thursday 1am Sunday 10am Thursday 1pm Monday 1am Friday 6am Tuesday 2am Friday 6pm

Please consider making a commitment to visit with our Lord for one hour each week. Call Barb at 630-885-1726

or [email protected]. Open hours are below.

COME AND ADORE HIM IN THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT...

Visit our Saint Francis Adoration Chapel - Open 24/7

Sit quietly and just “be” in the presence of God. Think of a visit to the Blessed Sacrament as coming to see your best friend. Instead of talking to the Lord, try listening to what He wants to tell you.

EVENING PRAYER AND BENEDICTION

Please join us for Evening Prayer (Vespers) and Benediction, held every Thursday at 6:00pm in the St. Francis Adoration Chapel.

Rosary

Come pray with us on Tuesday evenings

in the Church beginning at 7:30pm.

With our Rosaries, we will ask Our Lady to intercede for our Holy Father’s special intention of the month, as well as for our own intentions, and for world peace without the threat of terrorism. If there is a special intention that you would like to have remembered during the weekly Rosary, please email [email protected] or come to the Tuesday Rosary to add your intention.

Legion of Mary

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE Become acquainted with the Legion of Mary by joining us each Tuesday morning at 10:30am in Room 227 in

the Ministry Center in the spirit of faith and in union with our Blessed Virgin Mary. The Legion of Mary is the largest lay apostolic association of Catholics worldwide who serve the Church by visiting the sick and homebound and by performing many works of promoting our Catholic faith. We pray to Jesus through Mary. Contact Paulette Shea at 630-718-2127 with any questions.
