But we can have comfort in knowing that God always wants us to reconnect with Him. 2 Peter 3:9 says “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” If we are truly dependent on God any sin that comes between God and us should cause us to act immediately to repent and be reconnected with God. Not Connected

This past Tuesday much of the cell phone service for Kentucky,

Tennessee and Northern Alabama suddenly ceased to function. People

everywhere were abruptly cut off from internet, texting and phone calls. At

first many of us assumed that it was just our device, but after a bit we learned

that the problem was much larger.

I’ve heard some stories about people getting really angry about the

lack of service. Others were concerned because they could no longer conduct

business, talk with clients or contact friends and family.

Have you considered just how dependent we are on technology today?

We rely on our devices for calling, texting and access to the internet and we

assume that these things will always be there for us. When they are not, we

feel a void and sometimes we panic.

What if we were just as dependent on God in our daily lives? God

provides for our daily needs. He loves, forgives, guides and surrounds us with

His family. We assume that God is always there for us and sometimes we take

Him for granted.

What if we were no longer connected with God? How large would

that void be in our lives? Would we feel an immediate desire to reconnect

with Him like we felt when our phone service was cut off?

Of course God loves us and wants to be connected with us. But our

sin will separate us from God. Romans 3:23 says that sin will lead to death or

eternal separation from God. But we can have comfort in knowing that God

always wants us to reconnect with Him. 2 Peter 3:9 says “The Lord is not

slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering

toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to

repentance.”

If we are truly dependent on God any sin that comes between God and

us should cause us to act immediately to repent and be reconnected with God.

HOLDING GRUDGES

One day a visitor leaned on the old fence around

a farm, while he watched an old farmer plowing

with a mule. After awhile, the visitor said,

“I don’t like to tell you how to run your business,

but you could save yourself a lot of work by

saying ‘Gee’ and ‘Haw’ to that mule instead of just

tugging on those lines.”

The farmer pulled a big handkerchief from his

pocket and wiped his face, and said, “Reckon

you’re right, but this mule kicked me five years

ago and I ain’t spoke to him since.”

The moral is obvious. A grudge is harder on the

one who holds it than the one against whom it is

held.

The apostle Paul said that we are to forgive one

another if any man has a quarrel against any. Just

like Christ forgave us, we are to forgive each other

(Colossians 3:13).

If God and Christ can extend mercy to you for

your sins, surely you can be merciful to those who

offend you. copied

A HOME ISN’T A HOUSE

A home isn’t a house and it isn’t a place,

It’s a feeling of love and a smile on a face.

It isn’t four walls or a roof overhead,

It’s laughter and tears and sharing instead.

It isn’t the things you buy at the store,

It’s the welcome you get, when you walk through

the door.

It isn’t the rooms, or the curve of the stair,

It’s knowing you’re loved and loving those there.

A home isn’t a house and it isn’t a place,

It’s a table where dad thanks God for His grace.

It isn’t four walls or a roof overhead,

It’s the memories you make while there instead.

Home isn’t a town and it isn’t a street,

It’s the friends we make out of strangers we meet.

Thank God for homes where families are smart,

Who live in a home made with the heart. (copied)

Dear Church Family,

Many thanks for all the cards, calls, and prayers

when my mother passed away. The throw that was delivered to her memorial service was beautiful,

and it was such an honor for a book in her

remembrance to be placed in the church library. Thank you for caring.

In Christian love, Dozie Moseley & Family

My mother, Vera Smith, was a patient in the Palliative Care Unit at ECM Hospital on July 16-

17, 2015. We were brought a box of toilet articles and other useful items, and were told they were

from Florence Blvd Church of Christ. This is such

a thoughtful, caring gesture and we wanted to thank you for your kindness.

Sincerely,

Jerry & Carolyn McFall Paul & Martha Scott

Wayne & Kathy Smith

We have a Coupon Bulletin Board if you would

like to bring your unused coupons for restaurants, groceries, etc. Place the coupons in the white box

located outside the church office. Also, remember

to check the board to see if there are any coupons

you would like to pull.
