There are many things in my life that I am grateful for, and if I could I would write a whole novel on all the things that I have in my life and why I am grateful. One of the things that I have been blessed with is my job. I am

surrounded by people who are kind and loving, Not only that, but all those around me within this community care for me and it is a really special feeling. I enjoy coming to work where I can freely be myself, have good conversations with many parishioners, and meeting new people. The phrase, “It’s the little things that matter” I really take to heart because it truly is the little things that matter most to me. Recently I got gifted a card, an angel, and a candy bar for my work. It was something that I was not expecting. It made me realize how much your actions really do affect those around you no matter how big or how small of an impact you made. I advise you to think twice before you take any action. Think about how your actions might affect those around you, and how much of an impact you can make in other people’s lives as well as your own. Most importantly, do not forget to give thanks always to God. Everything you have in your life is because of Him. Hay muchas cosas en mi vida que agradezco, y si pudiera escribiría una novela completa sobre todas las cosas que tengo en mi vida y por qué estoy agradecida, lo haría. Una de las cosas con las que he sido bendecida es mi trabajo. Estoy rodeada de gente amable y cariñosa. No solo eso, sino que todos los que me rodean dentro de esta comunidad se preocupan por mí y es una sensación realmente especial. Me gusta venir a trabajar donde puedo ser libremente yo misma, tener buenas conversaciones con muchos feligreses y conocer gente nueva. La frase, "Son las pequeñas cosas las que importan" Realmente lo tomo en serio porque realmente son las pequeñas cosas que más me importan. Recientemente recibí una tarjeta, un ángel y una barra de chocolate para mi trabajo. Era algo que no esperaba. Me hizo darme cuenta de lo mucho que realmente afectan tus acciones a quienes te rodean, sin importar qué tan grande o cuán pequeño fue el impacto que hiciste. Te aconsejo que pienses dos veces antes de tomar alguna medida. Piensa en cómo tus acciones pueden afectar a quienes te rodean, y qué impacto puedes tener tanto en la vida de otras personas como en la tuya. Lo más importante, no olvides de dar gracias siempre a Dios. Todo lo que tienes en tu vida es por Él.

GIVING BOOK On September 1 and 2 after each mass we will be passing out a booklet title “Giving”. To give you a little insight into the book, I will read a short introduction message from the author, Ben Scott. The sub-title of the book asks the question; “Why and How Much Money Should I Be Giving to The Church To the poor.” Now, I know this is a sanative subject, but a very important subject, and every Christian should understand how giving effects their lives’ and the lives of the people around them. A number of years ago, the pastor in my parish asked me, to head up the annual sacrificial giving program. As unqualified as I felt I was, I studied all the information and scripture that was provided. The information I received working on this project opened my heart and there was no doubt, my wife and I were not giving what God was asking and realized we needed to follow the path our Lord was guiding us on and made a commitment to tithe, Giving 10% of our gross income to the church and to the poor. Next, our Lord placed on my heart, to write a book about our giving experience. I started researching and reading books that led me to more scripture and information that gave me more depth and scope. There were 3 things, that really captured my attention and convinced me that this books information would be very important for all Christians. First, there was the overwhelming amount of scripture on the subject of loving our neighbor and giving to those in need. The second was the fact that in 1300 B.C. God gave to Moses the command to tithe. This is pre-ce-dent in the Bible and church history and remains relevant today. The third was that less than 10% of all Christians tithe. That means, out of 100 Christians, only about 6, are tithing. The Catholic Church is even less. Here we have this tradition of tithing for more than 3000 years and 94 percent of Christians today are not following this tradition. I believe this is a serious problem. I say this because of the emphasis our Lord Himself placed on Giving, plus the vast amount of scripture on the subject. I share much of this scripture with you in my book. You see, after Moses received the commandment of tithing from God, he instructed his people, it became part of their culture. The many generations after Moses who were born into this culture of tithing, complied with it. Unfortunately, it has lost its way and is not happening in our society today. There is no longer that culture of giving and both the church and the poor are suffering because of it. God gave the law of tithing to the Israelites to support the Levite priest and their missions. Our Church and the poor need the same support today but cannot achieve it properly when less than 6% of the church are tithing and many are not giving at all. Remember, Giving becomes a blessing, not a burden, and I pray that you will read this book and that it will touches your heart and changes your lives as it has ours.
