Karen Smith on the loss of her sister, Sue Hume
Dear Church Family & Staff
Thank you so much for your prayers
during the loss of my sister, Martha Drake.
The Lord really lifted me up during this time
and I know it was due to your prayers!
May God bless each of you for your
faithfulness.
In Christ’s Love, Kenneth And Ann Daniel
“Do You Have God’s Smile”
We often find the word “favor” in Proverbs.
The Hebrew word literally referred to a King
or ruler smiling upon one of their subjects.
I ask myself, “Do I invoke God’s smile upon my
life?”
May I share with you some ways we can
experience God’s favor?
#1) By Knowing God’s Word (Pr. 3:1-4) In (2
Tim. 2:15) we read, “Study to show thyself
approved unto God…”
#2) By being wise (Pr. 8:32-35) If knowledge
is knowing God’s Word, wisdom is knowing
how to apply it.
#3) By being good (Pr. 12:2) This refers to the
daily application of God’s Word to our lives.
So, to gain the favor (smile) of God, we should
know His word, know how to apply it, and
apply it.
May God smile upon you, Bro. Jack
A CHANGE IS IN THE AIR
As I write this, it is 93 degrees and expected to
make it to 99 today. But, change is in the air. By
the end of August, the cooling begins and Fall tem-
peratures will begin. I have always seen August as
a month of transition. It is the beginning of our Sun-
day School year, when children are promoted from
class to class and the beginning of a new school
year. High school graduates begin their college
career and college grads have had their last
“college summer.”
In our study of First Samuel, we have seen God’s
hand in the incredible transition of Israel from a trib-
al confederacy to a monarchy; and from Saul to
David, “a man after God’s own heart.” We have
seen that we can rest assured that the Sovereign
God of the Universe, the One who knows each of us
intimately and loves us infinitely, knows and cares
about whatever transitions are coming. He will be
there when your young child starts school, when your
high school grad goes away to college, when the
new job starts, or the old one ends. And, yes, even
in an election year, we can hold fast to an unchang-
ing God.
Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands,
having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are
His.” (2 Tim. 2:19(a))
Bro. Gary
Dear Pastor Moore,
Thank you for the leadership that you are providing
at Fisherville First Baptist Church. Thank you for lead-
ing your church to give through the Cooperative Pro-
gram and Golden Offering. Your support has helped
spread the Gospel in Tennessee and around the
globe. I am praying that God will continue to use
you and your church for Gospel advance.
Many Blessings, Willie McLaurin; Tennessee Baptist
