Beach Clean-up
What happened?
On the cool morning of Wednesday, August 14th, Key Clubbers from Divisions
10 and 11 all met at Old Bridge Waterfront Park to clean up the litter filled beach.
Eric Gehring, the coordinator, gave everyone an informative run down of what to
clean up on the beach and what to look out for to keep safe. Gloves and garbage
bags were provided and the team set out to clean the beach for two hours before
breaking for lunch. After lunch, the rest of the park was cleaned and approximately
400 pounds of garbage was removed from the beach to make a noticeable differ-
ence. During the entire event, all the volunteers from different schools and divisions
met key clubbers with the same passion as them and hopefully made some new
friends. Locals that were visiting the beach for the day even complimented the team
for their hard work and contribution.
I am extremely proud of the success of the event and have no one
to thank but everyone that attended! Also, I hope that this event al-
lowed our division to meet Key Clubbers from Division 11 because anoth-
er event is coming up very soon. This time, with even 3 divisions! Thank
you again to everyone who attended!
Also, Thank you to everyone who could make it to the Divisional Dinner, I
hope you had a great time!

The International Programs Committee is in charge of bringing in-
formation about service partners to the Lieutenant Governors of
our division, so they can bring it back to their clubs. Our service
partners include March of Dimes, UNICEF and the Children’s Mir-
acle Network. The International Programs Committee also works
to promote Key Leader and the Youth Opportunities Fund. The
Youth Opportunity Fund is a way for clubs to get money and pre-
form large scale service projects. Clubs can fill out an application
online and get between $100-$2000 to facilitate their service pro-
ject. Applications are due on October 15th. Service projects can
range from reading books at the nursing home to building an en-
tire playground. Involve your K-family and make the project as
big as you want.
