    July Meeting

    Working Bee

On Saturday 13th of August, a working bee was held to affix the new shade material above the

pit area at our Gavial field. Members showed excellent support with a solid number attending

the working bee to lend a hand. The project involved replacing the cable and attaching each

strand of cable (5 in total) to the post structures on either end of the pit area. Once this was

completed, the process of attaching the shade material to the structure commenced. It was all

hands on deck with this process as the shade material had to be attached to the poststructures and clipped along the outer wires for the entire length. Continued Page 3...

The flood recovery assistance grant to the value of $5000 was received and has beendeposited into our club account. Thank you to our club president Nick Welburn forcompleting all the necessary documentation in order to receive the grant.

As per the previous meetings minutes, the $500 grant offered by the MAAQ has beenreceived by our club.

The proposal of a new shed for our club at our Gavial field was discussed. It is understoodthat grants are offered by Jupiters for building projects. Permission was granted that ourclub commence with quotes, etc. for this project. Laurie Chetter and Geoff Black are toinvestigate.

A report was delivered by the RMAC members who attended the Sarina old timer weekend.See report by Peter Cutler in this edition of Propwash.

Members were informed of our Annual General Meeting to be held after the August RMAC

    monthly meeting.

    Sarina Old Timer Competition 2011

    Continued from Page 3...

Last years event was cancelled due to wet weather, however this year was blessed with

beautiful sunny days with just a slight breeze. A short stop was spent at Waverley Creek for a

coffee break before continuing on to Sarina. Friday afternoon was spent setting up tents and

caravans while Paul and Heather Nightingale from Brisbane set up their camper trailer.

All up, there was about eighteen competitors who enjoyed two days of competition, good food

and interesting conversation. And of course the occasional drink. The event was very well run by

the Sarina club, with the club hosting Old Timer events of Texaco, Duration and Climb and

Glide. In addition to Old Timer, a chuck glider competition was held. The competition results

from the weekend are listed below. It is important to note that our own Garry deChastel has one

the Texaco event three times in the history of the Sarina club holding the event. Thank you to

all the Sarina club members for the all of the effort they put into running the event. It was

thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
