Signed between France, Britain and Germany in a railway carriage in the Forest of Compiègne north of Paris, the Armistice implemented a ceasefire for WWI at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918.

PALLADIUM EMU 3 COIN SETFrom the Greek name 'Pallas', goddess of wisdom, Palladium was discovered by the British chemist William Hyde Wollaston in 1804. It took nearly two centuries for palladium’s significance to be recognized, and the fight against global pollution owes a lot to this unique metal.

Following the perfection of his technique to obtain pure samples of platinumin 1801, William Hyde Wollaston went on to isolate palladium from platinumtwo years later by dissolving native platinum in aqua regia (a mixture of hydrochloric and nitric acid). He named it after Pallas, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom whose name had also been recently lent to the second asteroid ever discovered.

The Palladium Emu series consists of a thematic progression of three proof $40 coins released by the Perth Mint over a three year period between 1995 and 1997. A small mintage of just 2500 of each coins were issued.
