For our specialist makeup diploma level courses, we offer 4 intakes per year. Usually commencing January, April, July and October. However, dates may vary each year and not every intake may be available at each campus. For our certificate level courses we offer a flexible “start any time” delivery option, where you can get access to their online learning resources straight away and attend practical classes shortly after as timetabled.

You should have completed Year 10 (or equivalent) with a minimum age requirement of 16 for entry into this course.You are encouraged to attend an interview and tour of the academy.
At AACM we recommend our students complete the Basic Makeup short course prior to undertaking the Diploma of Screen and Media or at a minimum have some experience as a makeup artist. This will ensure you have developed an understanding of makeup application and techniques before you commence your diploma level studies.

Start any time with our flexible delivery options. The flexible mode of delivery maximises practical skill development in an operational beauty salon. Students will attend the campus for practical workshops, which will include demonstrations by industry experts, hands on practical experience and undertaking the assessable practical observations. WHY STUDY RETAIL COSMETICS?
The Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is the entry level qualification to the makeup industry. You will learn a range of skills to start your career within the dynamic and exciting retail cosmetics environment.
This course has been designed for those wanting to develop the skills and knowledge to sell, demonstrate and apply cosmetic products to an industry standard. You will learn to master the foundations of makeup application and a wide range of techniques including how to perform makeup consultations and correctly analyse face shapes and features, how to use social media tools and manage stock.
You’ll also be taught a variety of evening makeup looks, including the classics like a smokey eye, winged liner, and red lips. Day makeup looks cover nude tones and natural colours to softly enhance the features.
You will also receive a professional makeup brush kit to ensure you are ready for the makeup industry.

BLENDED ONLINE DELIVERY
Start any time with our blended online delivery option. Theory elements of each unit will be completed online under the guidance of our expert trainers. You must complete a minimum of 75 training salon hours to meet the practical component of this course.
The AACM Retail Training Salon will open on set days each week for practical skills development and practical assessments. You will be provided with a training calendar of dates to choose when you attend. The retail training salon will also be open for block training sessions for those required to travel or have employment opportunities and commitments.
QLD CERTIFICATE 3 GUARANTEE PROGRAM
The Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is for students aiming to enter the beauty services industry and is funded by the Queensland Governments under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program available for eligible applicants. You may be eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee if you:
● Are 15 years or older and no longer in school● Living in Queensland full time● Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or

This course runs over a 4 week period and comprises a combination of online learning and 3 practical on-campus workshops days lead by our expert trainer. WHY STUDY BASIC MAKEUP?
The Basic Makeup short course is perfect for those wanting to master the foundations of makeup application. This is a hands on course where you will be taught face-to-face by one of our expert makeup artists. Small class sizes make for an exciting and fun learning environment, where you can practice what you learn straight away, doing what you love!
You will learn a wide range of techniques including how to: perform makeup consultations, correctly analyse face shapes and features, colour theory, as well as skin types and cleansing. You’ll also be taught a variety of evening makeup looks, including the classics like a smokey eye, winged liner, and red lips. Day makeup looks cover nude tones and natural colours to softly enhance the features.
Students also receive a professional makeup brush kit to ensure they are ready for the makeup industry.

Introduction to Prosthetics is a short workshop designed to teach you the skills and techniques to apply basic prosthetic makeup. This course is perfect for those interested in special effects makeup, but with no prior experience. This is a hands on course where you will be taught face-to-face by one of our expert special effects makeup artists. Small class sizes make for an exciting and fun learning environment.
You will learn how to apply prosthetics for use in cosplay, costume, film and television. This course is available for anyone 14+ and will help develop your skills and prepare you to enter one of our Diploma courses.

Christina Stoddart
Christina Stoddart is an international Makeup Artist and
Beauty Therapist with over 15 years of experience in
Bridal, Pageant, Event, Fashion & Editorial Styles and has
specialised in Airbrush Makeup.
Along with owning her business Diamond Diversity,
Christina has a passion for beauty and makeup education
and has been teaching for over 4 years as an educator
for vocational colleges throughout Brisbane before
joining AACM.

BLENDED DELIVERY
This course has been designed to offer a combination of face to face and online learning.
This is to maximise the practical skills development whilst attending the campus. Face to
face classroom learning aims to support the development of practical skills required to
meet industry relevant outcomes.
School based students will attend 1 day per week 9am - 4pm. During this time will cover
the underpinning knowledge, watch trainer demonstrations and apply practical skills in
an operational retail training environment. Students can expect an additional 7.5 hours
per week structured at home study to work through the online learning materials and to
complete assessments.
COURSE DELIVERY
DURATION:
22 weeks. Two terms of 10 weeks duration with a 2 week mid term break. Term dates will
align with school terms.

PRE-REQUISITES
There is a minimum age requirement of 15 years of age for entry into this course.
Prospective students are encouraged to attend a tour of the Academy.
QLD STATE FUNDING
VETiS funding by the VET Investment budget
The Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is for students aiming to enter the beauty services and
makeup industry and is funded by the Queensland Governments under the VETiS (VET in
Schools) program available for eligible applicants. You may be eligible if you:
● Are aged 15 years or older.
● Are currently enrolled in Year 10, 11 or 12 and attending school.
● Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or on a pathway to
permanent residency.
● And have not completed a funded qualification yet or are not currently enrolled into a
funded qualification.
If you are eligible, you will be able to access the Certificate II in Retail Cosmetic fee-free. Your
fees will be covered by the VETiS funding arrangement and funding will be paid directly to us
to cover your tuition.

The roots of The Australian Academy of Cinemagraphic Makeup go back over 20 years
when passionate makeup artists and educators came together to create a unique training
institution.
Since opening our doors in 2009, we have established ourselves as one of the leading

The highly specialised Certificate III in Hairdressing:
● Will teach you the fundamentals of hairdressing under the guidance of our industry
experts.
● Consists of 24 core subject areas providing students with the skills and knowledge
to operate in a commercial salon with well developed sales, consultation and

Design and create haircut structuresLearn to develop visual representations and plans for solid form, graduated and increased,
and uniform layered haircut structures. This enables hairdressers to visualise the
components of finished haircut structures as aids to planning and completing haircuts.
Learn how to consult with clients and analyse hair and facial characteristics to design and
recommend complementary haircuts.
Mens stylingLearn how to create traditional and classic haircuts for men that align with current industry
trends.
Shampoo and basin servicesLearn how to complete a range of hair services provided at the basin area including
pre-service shampoos and treatments, and post treatment removal of residual colour and
lightening products. Advise on and provide remedial treatments for minor conditions and to
advise clients to seek further advice for abnormal or contagious conditions.
Classic long hair styling Complete a range of complementary up-styles for long hair suitable for a range of special
occasions. AACM collaborate with the best in the business to bring you the latest
techniques, products and skill set.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Colour and lighten hairLearn how to consult with clients, analyse existing hair colour and condition and
provide a range of hair colour and lightening treatments. This will include on scalp full
head and retouch bleach treatments, full and partial head highlighting treatments
using foil techniques. You will learn to consult with clients, analyse unwanted natural or
artificial hair colour and tone, and to select and apply colour correction products to
neutralise or change existing base colour and tone.
Creative cutting techniquesLearn innovative techniques to perform creative styles and finishes. Learn how to cut
hair using scissor-over-comb and clipper-over-comb techniques, to remove bulk, to
blend different structures within haircuts and to outline or blend perimeters of
haircuts.
Create finished hair designsLearn to design, recommend and complete a range of complementary classic and
current hair designs.
Straighten and relax hairLearn to complete chemical treatments to reduce curl or wave in the hair. Treatments
can be for untreated naturally curly or wavy hair or for chemically treated hair.

workplace rights and responsibilities and organisational policies and procedures.
Learn to use effective team and individual work practices to plan and organise daily

equipment, handle cash, complete sales and reconcile takings.

Receive and handle stockIn this unit, you will learn how to receive and store retail stock. It requires the ability
to check stock quality and quantity against order requirements; store or present
stock correctly; and maintain cleanliness of stock-handling areas.
Produce visual merchandise displaysLearn how to display retail merchandise with the ability to prepare, produce and
maintain merchandise displays in accordance with visual merchandising
requirements.

working in the industry for over 25 years. She won her first
award when she was still an apprentice.
Melissa’s purpose and passion lies in education. As the
director of Locks Paper Scissors, she has been developing the

business mentoring to salon owners for the past 12 years.
Having close family and friends working in the film &
television industry for more than 15 years, Melissa brings a

Danielle Fisher
With 30 years experience in the hair and makeup industry,
Danielle has built a solid reputation as successful hairdresser
and salon owner with proven expertise as precision stylist and
colourist. She has specialised as a bridal and special events
hair and make-up artist.
Danielle has worked for over 20 years as an educator in
vocational education, coaching, mentoring and developing the
skills of many successful hairdressing, beauty and make-up
artist graduates. Danielle has a strong background in
leadership and management and is committed to ensuring
quality outcomes to meet industry standards.
As the Director of Education at the Australian Academy of
Cinemagraphic Makeup, Danielle is dedicated to meeting the
needs of the film, TV and performances industry to ensure
highly skilled graduates with the appropriate hairdressing and
makeup artist capabilities.
PROFESSIONAL KIT
AACM will provide each student with a professionally equipped hairdressing starter kit with
reputable industry brands providing you with tools of the trade to undertake practical
activities. All learning materials and resources will be provided during attendance at the
training salon.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are three units embedded in this qualification that must be completed in the
first study period of the course. These will provide the skills and knowledge to
successfully complete the remaining units. There is a minimum age requirement of
15 years of age for entry into this course. Prospective students are encouraged to
attend a tour of the Academy.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
FLEXIBLE BLENDED DELIVERY
Start any time with our flexible blended delivery option. Theory elements of each unit will
be completed online under the guidance of our expert trainers. The AACM Hairdressing
Training Salon will open on set days each week for practical skills development and
practical assessments. You will choose when you attend and how often. You must
complete a minimum of 600 salon hours to meet the practical component of this course.
The salon will also be open for block training sessions for those required to travel or have
employment opportunities and commitments.

DURATION

Charlotte Ravet, Head Educator (Melbourne)
French-originated Charlotte has worked for major European television
stations and on celebrities like Robbie Williams, the Glee cast and
presenters of major events like Paris fashion week. She has worked for
Prada, L’Oreal Paris and MiuMiu, has been granted a Distinguished Talent
Visa and earned permanent residency in Australia.
After becoming a finalist at the Face2Face awards, Charlotte began to
share her expertise, designing and running her own master classes and
working as an educator. In 2018, Charlotte has been awarded best
makeup educator of the year at the Australian Industry Makeup Awards.
Professionalism, vibrancy and above all, outstanding skill has seen
Charlotte Ravet sought out in this industry by professionals and students
alike.

Students should have completed Year 10 (or equivalent) with a minimum age
requirement of 16 for entry into this course. Prospective students are
encouraged to attend an interview and tour of the Academy.
We highly recommend our students complete the Basic Makeup short course
prior to undertaking the Diploma of Screen and Media, or at a minimum have
some experience as a makeup artist. This will ensure you have developed an
understanding of makeup application, techniques and workplace practices.

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge required to apply makeup, hairstyling and specialised makeup services for performers and talent appearing in screen and entertainment industry productions. This includes units focusing on prosthetics, historical makeup, hair and wig styling, avant garde, editorial makeup, wounds and injuries etc.
It applies to individuals who use their creative skills, working alone or as part of a team, to design makeup that meets production requirements and brings out the subject's best features. Good communication skills are essential since they need to create an environment where others feel at ease.
● 2 years duration.● 1 full day per week on campus studies for practical skills development.● Up to 6 hours per week at home studies for completing online learning
activities, research and assessment preparation.● Costs of $19,200 including all learning materials, an extensive resource kit
