KANGAROO
- Usually live in groups- Very fast runners
- Gives birth to baby joey who stays in mothers pouch for 5-11 months
DINGO
- Found everywhere in Australia apart from Tasmania- Wild form of the domestic dog
- Live and hunt alone or in pairs or as a small family group
WALLABY
- Smaller member of the macropod family,- Looks like a small Kangaroo
- Australian Rugby Union team are called the ‘wallabies’
KOALA
- Found in South Eastern Australia in trees- Survives only on Eucalypt leaves
- Sleeps 18-20 hours each day
TASMANIAN DEVIL
- Only found in Tasmania- Largest meat eating animal- Nocturnal and lives alone
- Very loud creatures with screaming and growling common
PLATYPUS
- Duck-billed platypuses live 10-17 years and lay eggs- Found in Eastern Australia
- Live by rivers and freshwater lakes where burrows can be dug
- Excellent at diving and swimming
WOMBAT
- Found in South Eastern Australia- Baby wombat remains in mother’s pouch for 5 months
- Only three species of wombat
COCKATOO
- They eat fruit, nuts and insects
- Noisiest of all Parrots-They can live up to 60 years
