Rhona Morton ScholarshipThis year’s recipient of the Rhona Morton Scholarship was awarded to Jessica Paton (ATCL) from Rockhampton.

The prize was announced at the recent Queensland Awards event held at Anglican Church Grammar School in East Brisbane. It was kindly donated by the Morton family as a memorial to the late Rhona Morton (HonTCL), who was a significant teacher of piano, and supporter of Trinity College London.

The prize is intended for the most successful piano diploma candidate in Queensland from the previous year, who intends to pursue a career in instrumental teaching.

We thank Dr Ralph Morton and the family for their continued generosity in providing this scholarship.

Coat of ArmsTrinity has been awarding qualifications for over 135 years. Up until 1992, examinations were delivered through Trinity College of Music, London - the internationally renowned music conservatoire.

In 1992, the external examinations department was set up as a separate not-for-profit organisation and registered charity, Trinity College London, which

now delivers in excess of half a million assessments worldwide each year in the performing arts and the English language.

In 2007, Trinity submitted a formal application for a Coat of Arms to the College of Arms (a branch of the Royal Household). This crest (below) contains a Lyre, Pegasus, the Staff of Mnemosyne, Dramatic Masks and a Fleur de lis, each giving much meaning to the design.

Trinity examinations have always been designed to motivate learners towards greater success and to recognise achievement at all stages of the learning journey. Our new motto ‘Honouring Achievement’ continues this tradition, and stresses the positive nature of our examinations.
