AUSTRALIAN ONLINE & TRAVELLERS LIONS CLUB
CHARTER DATE: JANUARY 3RD, 2018
JUNE BULLETIN 2019
We provide a unique “Service” Club membership and our primary focus is to retain existing Lions whose Lions Clubs may have closed and would still like to remain Lions.
To welcome those Lions who would like to travel for extended periods of time within and outside Australia and still remain a Lions Family Member.
To provide an option for those Lions who are unable to attend a
mainstream Lions Club because they work away from home, who have
health problems, or the nearest Lions Club is just too far away for then to
remain Lions.
Our Lions Club goals are in keeping with the humanitarian, community
spirited, fun and service mindedness of Lions.
Our members are dedicated to assisting other Lions Clubs in helping to
make their communities a better place to live, work and grow.
We currently have members from Western Australia, Queensland,
Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and New
Zealand.

5. Lions Clubs International Code of Ethics
Lion Gwyneth Payne posted the Lions Clubs International Purposes.
To show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end
that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
To seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to
accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair
advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
To remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down
another’s; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards
others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
To hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not
on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship
demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my
community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give
them freely of my time, labor and means.
To aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my
substance to the needy.
To be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.

Dear Lions
My sincere apologies for not being able to attend last month’s meeting. Our NBN
was down when we came back after our trip to India and we went to Telstra to
resurrect our dongle and they muffed up the loading. Our local guy sorted it out
but it could not be done until after the meeting. The NBN technician was due on
the Thursday but we had to cancel him as there was a message on email when
we eventually got our dongle back that there was a shutdown for electricity line
changes for most of the day.
I attended the Convention at Geelong and met up with Bernie and Janice
Clifford. Bernie is our delegate this year and will be writing a report on the
convention including all motions and their results.
After the Convention I met up with N1 attendees for our annual dinner at the
Elephant & Castle in Geelong. Our District Governor, Lion David Emmanuel
presented Lion Bernie Clifford with his 50-year award and letters from our
International President and other organisations. Congratulations to Lion Bernie
on a marvellous achievement and for Lion Janice on her support for him.
Another glass of red wine Bernie?
I had the pleasure of receiving the DG’s banner on behalf of our members and
also worker awards for Lion Bernie Donchi and Lion Diane Hughes.
Congratulations Lions Bernie and Diane.
Our second full changeover will be in June and I hope to see everybody online
for 100% turnout.
Best wishes to all members and their partners.

Presidents Report June 2019
Dear Lions
I had the pleasant duty of awarding Lion Alan Large his 30 Year Monarch Award.
Lion Alan had been a member of Snowtown Lions until it folded and that is when he
joined our club as he wished to stay a member of The Lions Family.
Lion Ted and I, along with Lion Gwyneth and Lion Stewart travelled to Snowtown in
South Australia for the purpose of presenting this award. It was also the first time
that we had met Lion Alan and Lions Lady Ros and we succumb to a nice cup of tea
and some cake. We stayed at the Snowtown Caravan Park and on the following day
we journeyed to Ardrossan to meet up again with Angela & Rolly and again the cake
came to the forefront.
We all journeyed North with the intention of going to Kings Canyon but unfortunately
I got a very bad cold and have had to return home. So we parted company at Coober
Pedy.
Tonight is our changeover night. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to
sincerely thank all of our members for the support they have given me and my
Committee over the last 18 months. We have grown over this period by two
members, having been selective of new members as is our right. It has been very
interesting in starting a new club with all its trials and tribulations.
I would like to wish Ted H and his committee all the best for a successful year and
ask that all Members give him the support they have afforded me,
Best wishes to all members and their partners.
Yours in Lionism

President
Secretary Report June 2019
This is the last report for the 2018-2019 Lions Year. This has been a
very exciting and challenging year in many ways.
During this year, and the 6 months prior to this, President Hazel Pickwell
has done a wonderful job of moving this Club forward, making sure that
the Club had a stability that now see us looking forward to our future as
a Lions Club.
I would like to thank President Hazel for her guidance and friendship, my thanks to
Lion Arthur Leech our Treasurer for his humour and dedication, to Lion Ted Pickwell
our Membership Chairperson for his tenacity and sometime woeful jokes, to Lions
Ted Hughes, Jan Donchi and Lesley Petersen as vice presidents, they were always
there when needed, to Lion Bernie Donchi for his attention to detail and advise, and
to Lion Brenda Payne for making sure that the Clubs Paraphernalia is well looked
after. The most important thank you is to all the members for their support, we could
not have achieved so much in such a short space of time without that support.
Stewart and I decide that we wouldn’t travel to Western Australia this year because
of the problems with the F250 and also one of our nephews decided to get married
early August. This would have allowed us only 5-6 weeks before we would have had
to come back east. So, at the moment we are mooching around Queensland with no
real plans which is driving me crazy!
Having said that we were able to meet up with Hazel and Ted in Grenfell then travel
to Snowtown South Australia with them to catch up with Lion Alan Large and Ros.
President Hazel wanted to catch up with Lion Alan so that she could present him, in
person, with his 30year Monarch Certificate.
President Hazel presenting Lion Alan
Large with his 30year Monarch
Certificate.
President Hazel also presented Lion Alan
with a letter from the International President
recognising his 30 years of Service.
As well as having a celebratory morning tea with Lion Alan and Ros, Lion Stewart
Payne and President Hazel were presented with a Centennial Lion Pin in recognition
of their assistance is organising a New Lions Club.
Lion Alan was very pleased to be
asked to present the Centennial Lion
Pin to Lion Stewart Payne
Lion Alan also presented President Hazel with the Centennial Lion Pin. It was really
great catching up with Lion Alan and Ros again.
The next day we travelled with
Hazel and Ted to Ardrossan in
South Australia to catch up with
Lions Rolly and Angela Williams,
it was good to catch up with them
and see that they were starting to
recover from some of their recent
health problems.
Lions Rolly, Angela and Stewart.
Earlier on in May, Stewart and I were also able to catch up with Lions Brenda, Rod
and Andrew Payne to present them with their 10year Chevrons and a letter from the
International President recognising them for their 10year Service to Lions.
