The Uluru is a large sand stone rock located in the southern part of the northern territory, of central Australia. It has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. The Uluru is 348 meters tall. Its also known as Ayers Rock. The local Pitjantjatjara people call the landmark Uluru, but on the 19th of July 1873, the surveyor William Gosse found it and called it Ayers Rock after Sir Henry Ayers, the Chief of security of south Australia.
